Turbo Pumps have been started and are in normal operation. TP1 which has recently been replaced was started in soft start and had no issues. TP2 was started normally and tripped prior to reaching speed. It was left for a while and restarted. When restarted it was still at 17KRPM, it reached normal operation.

Entry  Wednesday, March 20, 2013, 08:19, David Wang, Conditioning Station, Repair, TM4, , Leak check new installed TM4 TP1 at conditioning station.

I leak checked new installed TM4 TP1 at conditioning station. The CS vacuum gauges reading were at 1.0-1.5xE-6 torr . Leak detector base leak rate 0.0xe-9atm.cc/sec, base pressure 0.0xe-4torr. I sprayed helium around the pump  inlet flange and KF 25 pump outlet flange to pump joint. There is no response on leak detector. The new installed TP1 is leak tight.

Today, the commissioning of the TCS went well. The water/vacuum interlocks were checked OK. Then, the TCS was HV conditioned up to 33kV.

Tomorrow, the heaters will be ramped up.

Entry  Saturday, March 23, 2013, 18:14, Aurelia Laxdal, Conditioning Station, Development, TM4, FEBIAD HP with Dummy Target, Commissioning TCS - Part 2 Completed

After few hickups the TCS was successfuly commissioned.

In the morning, in the middle of the heaters conditioning: 360A/250A for the TGHT/TBHT, the target heater PS tripped and it didn't recover immediately.  I cannot tell if the card is still OK. Before this even, there were few bias current sparks created when the ionized tube was raised above 250A; this also tripped the Einzel lens. Re-started the Heaters, and did the conditioning with the rest (HV, Optics) Off. After the heaters were at nominal values, raised the rest: HV to 30kV and the Optics. And everything held fine. The current on the FC was 3micro-Amperes. The water temperature levels stayed below 25 deg Celsius.

The problems that need to be fixed:

1. The biggest problem was created by the target power supply: the new card is not calibrated, the voltage is not regulating, but the main problem is the grounding of the output of power supply. Friedhelm measured 0.2V across the return and the cage (200mili-ohms resistance) .  This was probably overlooked.

2. The Auto-ramping routine didn't work. Controls would need to fix this.

3. The RGA didn't want to connect from the account Don created for me. So, we have only a RGA scan taken on Friday by Don, when the target was cold.

The cooling package and vacuum was stopped today at 9:26 so the module can be move.

 Response to item 1.

This morning I investigated the output of the TGHT power supply. The negative output of the power supply is tied to common as per ISK4574D Rev 7 (attached) and the released drawing IRH1511 Rev A (PDF attached but officially located in the SW vault). If this is not the intent of the IRH1511 should be released to Rev C reflecting the desired configuration.

In regards to the calibration of the card I will inform the PS group.

TM#4 with the CS Test target has been moved from the conditioning station to the south hot cell. Move went well.

Entry  Tuesday, March 26, 2013, 14:17, Travis Cave, South Hot-Cell, Standard Operation, TM4, SiC#28 (RFQ Target), Electrical check TM4_SiC28_RFQ_SHC_ELEC_CHK.PDF

Electrical check of TM#4 SiC#28 (RFQ Target) has been completed. It passed the standard electrical checks for the target part, but the electrical check for the RFQ part is suspect, see the attached PDF for the details.

Entry  Wednesday, March 27, 2013, 10:44, Travis Cave, ITE, Standard Operation, TM4, SiC#28 (RFQ Target), module move

TM#4 with SiC#28 has been moved from the south hot cell to the east target station move went well.

Entry  Wednesday, March 27, 2013, 11:49, David Wang, ITE, Standard Operation, TM4, Sic LIS-RFQ , Connected TM4 in ITE

TM4 has been reconnected to ITE after the module moving. The roughing is started . The water will be supplied to ITE after  testing  the water  pumps . The water interlock check will be done on next week also.

Entry  Wednesday, March 27, 2013, 12:08, David Wang, South Hot-Cell, Standard Operation, TM4, Sic LIS-RFQ, TM4 heat shield circuit leak check with SiC LIS-RFQ target

Chad and I did the TM4 heat shield leak check yesterday at SHC. The leak detector was pumped to 4.6 xE-9atm.cc/sec, and 0.0xE-4 torr after 1.5 hours pumping. Chad sprayed helium twice on both VCR fittings. There is no response had been found during each 45 seconds waiting time. Since the module moved to ITE directly,we didnt have helium pressure test this time. I  would say thee heat shield circuit is leak tight. so far.

Entry  Wednesday, April 03, 2013, 12:26, David Wang, ITE, Maintenance, TM4, Sic LIS/RFQ, Leak check on ITE TM4.

TM 4 had been leak check in ITE due to   relatively high PNG1 and IG1 readings. All TM4 primary and secondary  vessel air to vacuum seals had been leak checked. All water lines in TM4 had been helium pressured . There is no leak had been found so far.

Entry  Wednesday, April 17, 2013, 10:35, David Wang, ITE, Standard Operation, TM4, , I moved 5 shielding blocks back to ITE.
