The September Mini-Shutdown is now a memory. The few days available to OLIS were used for MCIS Development on 197Au. Productive. A 197Au34+ beam sat on FC6 overnight. The program ended Friday, at which point a 20Ne1+ beam from the MWS was established, and line tuning commenced.

A source switchover day was negotiated, with a goal to provide 12C2+ beam. As a practical matter, it's been an OLIS Maintenance Day, at least for the morning. Controls installed a cable to provide remote reset capability for the OLIS Enable interlock panel. However, it did not perform as expected first time, so Controls has elected to pursue this another time. Meanwhile, the remote cable is at the rear of the OLIS Enable panel, ready to be connected next time.

This morning, Keerthi started the Supernanogan, and established (evidence of) initial 12C2+ and 74Gen+ beams from it. Maintenance concluded around noon, and beam development resumed. Goals: Find clear 74Ge and 12C2+ peaks.

Maintenance Day for OLIS started late yesterday afternoon. Source up at end of the day. See attached Stripchart and in particular how the source (blue trace is beam at FC6) came back to its nominal state within a reasonable time. Maintenance TBC after lunch.

Later... Hardware maintenance complete. Source HV and source gas tests followed by source startup around 16:30. Next up: magstab development.

Later... Magstab development done for this set. System up and ready for accelerator commissioning and development in the morning. Attached: starting mag field plus a Stripchart of the day.

Source pulled down for Mg removal and cleanup. Done. Supernanogan refurbishing of MCIS optics complete, plus a comple of other items. Opened joints leackchecked and okay. MCISIOC was in a partial state, where devices worked but not interlocks. It turns out that Controls knows about this. Msg to investigate in the morning. Meanwhile, MWS is up with a 16O1+ beam on FC6 presently. FYI, the vacuum pumpdown curve during leakcheck and startup operations.

Our work permit to leakcheck the Supernanogan and IOS was signed this morning. The source is off presently, and work is underway. The 12C2+ beam was not used overnight.

Today we switch from 74Ge1+ to 4He1+, about as wide a switch as we've done at OLIS. We will use the MWS for the 4He.

Later... sources lit. First mass scan attached. Intensity is pretty low for now.

Later... MWS optimized better. Optimal He gas pressure is somewhere between zero and the leakthrough rate on the flow controller set at zero. Stripchart attached. ICR will play with source and beam as it is for now.

Later... ICR has found a few enA in there, and vested parties are happy with the beam.

I updated the electrical Diagram  for OLIS Faraday Cage with 3 Ion Source, ref: ISK4586D rev. 2

PS:  Make sure that you do not connect both Bias P/S on same Ion Source ...

Entry  Wed Aug 13 15:04:05 2014, Raymond Dubé, , , OLIS Bender Magnet PS (0-500 amps)

Arthur and Derek had a look at the OLIS Bender Magnet P/S and found a problem with the Polarity Switch, it was set up upside down, they fixed that.

Note: We do not need a Polarity Switch for OLIS may be we should remove or bypass it, at the moment when the PS goes OFF we need to use the reverse Polarity to Bend the Beam the right way.

Entry  Wed Aug 13 15:09:42 2014, Raymond Dubé, Routine, General, OLIS Attenuators #2 fixed, #1 gone!

Today Probe group (Scott K.) installed the OLIS Attenuator, they fixed the vacuum leak on Attenuator #2,  Marco M. asked them to remove Attenuator #1 because it is not needed and confusing for Ops;

Attenuator #1 was an experiment that Marco M. asked for, it was the same as Attenuator #2 but with 45 degrees offset, the results were not good and he decided to remove it.

Entry  Wed Nov 12 13:32:47 2014, Raymond Dube, Routine, General, New in-line resistors for IOS:PE ISK4583D-rev10.pdf

Today we replace the in-line resistors for the Plasma Electrode (PE) it was a 25 ohm 200W (2 x 50 Ohm 100W) with a 50 Ohm 200W (2 x 100 Ohm / 100W) also added the inductance coil.

This is R5 on drawing: ISK4583D rev. 10

This was done to reduce the power on R5

Note: We still need to make sure the the FAN is running to cool the resistors when the PE P/S is ON.

Entry  Wed Jul 8 16:12:51 2009, Damien Gallop, Routine, General, Mass scan in progress grab.rh2790.pngPicture_16.pngPicture_17.png

A mass scan from A/q of zero to 25 is in progress. Data file (large): masscorr_mcis_090708.txt. The source is optimized for 18O4+. Fishing for 18On+ states and their emittance scans to follow. Attached is one screenshot of the Gabe's Calibrate interface. I ran it several times with different peak selections from the same data. I entered into the EPICS mass correlation program a best average of the calibrations for the two constants.
