Raymond Dube | Routine | General | New in-line resistors for IOS:PE |
Today we replace the in-line resistors for the Plasma Electrode (PE) it was a 25 ohm 200W (2 x 50 Ohm 100W) with a 50 Ohm 200W (2 x 100 Ohm / 100W) also added the inductance coil.
This is R5 on drawing: ISK4583D rev. 10
This was done to reduce the power on R5
Note: We still need to make sure the the FAN is running to cool the resistors when the PE P/S is ON. |

Last January 17th 2014 we removed an in-line resistor (100K 10W) from IOS:YCB1A because we do not think that it is needed.

I updated an old drawing ISK4478D (MS & MCIS Optics) and created 2 new ones: ISK4583D (Electrical Diagram for SS & MS) and ISK4585D (SS & MS Optics)
If you see any errors please let me know. |

Raymond Dubé | | | OLIS Skimmers BOP & Labels |
I updated 2 drawings that show the OLIS skimmers.
A. ISK4363D for the OLIS Skimmers BOP connections, we have 7 skimmers cables (6 wires per cable) going in and 16 skimmers channel going out to Controls.
B. ISK4365D that shows the skimmers cables location along the OLIS beamline.

Raymond Dubé | Routine | General | OLIS Surface Source broken Ionizer Coil |
We spent most of the day looking at OLIS to find out why the "Ionizer Coil" keeps breaking down, we found the following:
1. The FAN to cool R5 (ref: ISK4583D rev.7) a 25 Ohm 200W Resistor (2x50 ohm/100W ea.) was not ON, the nylon insulator (also the plastic tube across to the HV Terminal) was burnt and not holding the R5 resistor properly, I replaced the plastic insulator with a ceramic insulator.
Note that if the PE electrode is open it will charge up to the beam energy and start sparking. Also I used a red heatshrink tubing to prevent the BNC connector (it sits at Common) to touch the Cu pipe for the Plasma electrode water cooling.
2. Drawing for PE Polarity Switch: ISK4386D rev. 5
3. Drawing for EE:SS BOP (resistors & spark gap): ISK4584D rev. 1
4. Drawing for OLIS Surface & McroWave Source electrical diagram: ISK4583D rev. 7 |

Raymond Dubé | | | OLIS Bender Magnet PS (0-500 amps) |
Arthur and Derek had a look at the OLIS Bender Magnet P/S and found a problem with the Polarity Switch, it was set up upside down, they fixed that.
Note: We do not need a Polarity Switch for OLIS may be we should remove or bypass it, at the moment when the PS goes OFF we need to use the reverse Polarity to Bend the Beam the right way. |

Raymond Dubé | Routine | General | OLIS Attenuators #2 fixed, #1 gone! |
Today Probe group (Scott K.) installed the OLIS Attenuator, they fixed the vacuum leak on Attenuator #2, Marco M. asked them to remove Attenuator #1 because it is not needed and confusing for Ops;
Attenuator #1 was an experiment that Marco M. asked for, it was the same as Attenuator #2 but with 45 degrees offset, the results were not good and he decided to remove it. |
