Conditioning by ISAC operations

Saturday, September 24, 2016, 11:15: RGA on for heater conditioning. (kept off during HV conditioning)

Sunday, September 25, 2016, 07:44: TGHT and TBHT voltage jumps during heater ramping. Likely contact between target and heat shield. Contacted ISAC operations and asked to abort ramping at current values. TGHT/TBHT 500 /270 A

Monday, September 26, 2016, 08:22: ISAC operations resuming ramping to 550 A. Corrected TGHT voltage at ISAC TS was ~6.2 V at 580 A. Expected voltage at TCS would then be 6.2 + (3.4+2.9)E-3*580 = 9.9 V. Limit set at 9.5 V.

Monday, September 26, 2016, 09:09: Increased TGHT voltage limit to 9.6 V to allow it to reach 550 A.

Monday, September 26, 2016, 10:17: Voltage limit increased to 10.2 V which allowed the current to go to 575 A

Tuesday, September 27, 2016, 08:08: Conditioning complete. Ran at 575 / 270 A and 47 kV for about 1 hour. Conditioned cold to 49 kV.

The bundle of electrical checks, first one is the Iglis that failed, the second is the everything passed at the hot cell and the third is a the conditioning station under vacuum.

Entry  Friday, September 23, 2016, 07:49, David Wang, Conditioning Station, Standard Operation, TM4, , TM4 has been moved and connected at TCS

All TCS and TM4 turbo-pumps were started yesterday. Overnight pumping down is good so far.

Entry  Thursday, September 22, 2016, 13:04, David Wang, South Hot-Cell, Standard Operation, TM4, , SHC, TM4 leak check on HS line.

Chad and I leak checked the TM4 HS line after new target installation. base leak rate:0.0Xe-9 atm.cc/sec.  No response on LD during the leak check. The line is leak free so far. It will be helium pressurized at TCS  late.

Entry  Tuesday, September 20, 2016, 11:48, David Wang, Assembly/Bench Test, Development, , , A silo and blue steel frame are removed out of TH

A silo and blue steel frame are removed out of TH this morning. They are transferred  through ante room, and moved to experimental hall TM assembly area for a long term storage. Swipes are done on the silo and frame before and during move. No contamination has been found .

Entry  Tuesday, September 20, 2016, 11:41, David Wang, ITE, Standard Operation, TM4, , TM4 has been disconnected in ITE.

TM4 has been disconnected in ITE. No water line purge on HS and 3 water circuits are looped after disconnection. The HALCW system resistivity is stable before and after this disconnection.

Entry  Thursday, September 15, 2016, 11:05, Isaac Earle, North Hot-Cell, Development, , , NHC / SHC feedthrough panel removed original_panel.JPGpanel_removed.JPGtemp_panel.JPG

The sheet metal panel covering the NHC/SHC feedthrough port was removed today using a slide-hammer to pull out the concrete anchors (this oversized panel would have interfered with the NHC partition wall).  50cpm was found on the inside of the panel, 100cpm on the NHC side lip of the feedthrough, and 350cpm on the face of the shielding bricks in the feedthrough.  Various dimensional measurements of the feedthrough were taken which will be added to the partition wall Solidworks model (IRH1609).  The panel was bagged for disposal and a temporary 20"x20" panel was put over the feedthrough and secured with duct tape.  A permanent panel with anchored supports that is compatible with the NHC partition wall will be designed and installed at a later date.  A swipe of the NHC walls and floor picked up 30cpm after completion of the job.
