  2789   Friday, April 11, 2025, 13:34 chad fisherNorth Hot-CellRepair  remote end 9342 installed

On March 27 remote end 9342 was installed on the west position (right hand as viewed by operator) and arm 9**4 removed and moved to anteroom.

Previous to this installation, arm 9342 received tensioning of the elevation twist pulley block and tightening of the tong cable opening via the tong cable drum. Tong opening was reduced to roughly 2" to achieve tension in the tong cable such that slack upon release of the system was reduced and tong cable didn't hop pulley in elevation/twist pulley block (this 2"opening is not enough to grasp the air ratchet but is suff. for holding a target...right manip will have to hold the air tool for now. It is also notable when dealing with the tong cable system that slack can cause the tong cable to hop off the secondary pulley in the wrist joint (where two cables run through a secondary pulley that has no retention feature).

Notable during this repair was the fact the the lock-down set screws on the elevation/twist pulley block were missing. These lock down the tensioning screws once the block has been tensioned. New set screws were installed after elevation twist cables were tensioned to their nominal value of 15 in lbs.

It is my recommendation that, when the spare remote arm is fixed and there is a window that this arm come back out and the tong cable be replaced (we have 6 on hand).

592   Tuesday, February 04, 2014, 09:42 David WangSouth Hot-CellRepairTM2 pressure test on TM2 tube heater +(D) water line.

Chad and I did a pressure test on TM2 tube Heater+(D) water line.I pressurized the D line with shop air from quick connectors(both ends) on service cap.chad applied bubble soap onto the D water block in SHC. The test started from 5psi,and increased 5psi each time to 40 psi. From 5 to 35 psi, no bubble has been found on water block. At 40 psi , bubble appeared from blind blank off seal , but not from soldering joints. Since the o-ring seal for the blank off is  vacuum seal , but not for pressurizing, It is understandable the seal could not hold 40 psi pressure air. No bubble had been found on the D water block soldering joints .See attachment pictures.

I would like to correct this E-LOG. There is no real  leaking bubble had been found during the whole test according to the information supplied by Chad  Fisher during  this afternoon meeting. I would like to attach some pictures took from TH during this test.

  1793   Tuesday, September 25, 2018, 08:01 chad fisherSouth Hot-CellStandard OperationTM2nSiC#1nSiC#1 install

On September 18th installation of nSiC#1 was attempted on TM2. As usual, new fasteners were tested previous to insertion into hot cell and employed during installation. the last fastener to be installed was for the circuit D block. The fastener/air ratchet stalled immediately indicating a problem. The fastener was removed and a an attempt was made trying a new spare fastener. That fastener also jammed right away but could not be removed or installed any further.

A breaker bar was employed to achieve more torque and the fastener was able to be loosened, although it would not come completely out, dangling and wobbling like it was free. A claw type bar was used to add slight pressure to the fastener while it was loosened allowing the fastener to undo the rest of the way.

Target was removed and discovered that that insulator supporting circuit c and d blocks was quite broken and that a few chunks had fallen off. It was also notice that boefore the breaker bar had been employed that a piece of ceramic was on the table suggesting that the ceramic had been at least partially broken at the time of removal of the previous target. Also, the threads of the insert for circuit d showed damage an swarf.

Swarf was vacuum claned out of the circuit d thread insert and a machine tap ran through the insert twice.

nSiC#1 was reinstalled with new waterline gaskets and new c and d circuit fasteners with a little bit of the first 2-3 threads lightly coated with vacuum grease.

High current fasteners torqued to 130 in lbs.

  2332   Tuesday, June 21, 2022, 15:36 Matthew GareauNorth Hot-CellRepairTM2SiC#42, SiC#43multipin guide pin issues

While removing the SiC#42 it became apparent that the multipin guide pin had become loose again and was not allowing the target to dismount from the module.

The multipin shoulder bolts were removed and then the multipin was able to be pried off.

However the NHC manipulator were not able to reach the guide pin to remove it, which would be required before the SiC#43 could be installed.

The target module was then moved to the SHC where the guide pin could be removed and the installation of SiC#43 took place, along with the transfer of the parasitic attachment onto the SiC#43.

This problem seems to suggest that the multipin could use some redesign to ensure smoother target exchanges.
