Thursday, April 18, 2019, 10:04, Travis Cave, South Hot-Cell, Maintenance, , Ta#50, SiC#34, Ta#46, Ta#47, and Ta#45, Target transfer from old pail to new pail.
|
Targets Ta#50 and SiC#34 have been transferred from their old pails to new ones. Ta#50 was done on April 12th 2019 it was moved from pail #148 to pail #200 and a new field measurement was done and found to be 3.57mSv/hr. SiC#34 was done on April 18th 2019 it was moved from pail #143 to pail # 206 and a new field measurement was done and found to be 2.20mSv/hr. Both measurements were done by the RAM that is mounted at the south hot cell.
April 24 2019
Target Ta#46 has now been transferred to a new pail with a number 207 from pail 143 it was 3.62 mSv/hr when removed from the south hot cell.
April 25 2019
Target Ta#47 has now been transferred to a new pail with a number 201 from pail 137 it was 2.25mSv/hr when removed from the south hot cell. The bag that the target was in has shown signs of degradation.
Target Ta#45 has now been transferred to a new pail with a number 202 from pail 124 it was 1.45mSv/hr when removed from the south hot cell. The bag that the target was in was destroyed. Also in the pail was a shutter, IMG Gauge, some altem parts, wire and bolts.
The extraction electrode from Ta#47 was added to this pail as it was left behind from last transfer. |
Tuesday, October 08, 2013, 14:58, Anders Mjos, South Hot-Cell, Standard Operation, , SiC#29, Target to Heat Shield electrical short
|
The SiC#29 CTL target has been taken apart with the help of Isaac and Chad. Electrical measurements were done between Target and Heat Shield as the target was disassembled. Work was done on October 2nd, 4th, 7th and 8th.
The megger showed about 30kOhm at 50V with the following changes
- Bolts for CTL block loosened
- Above bolts removed
- CTL block pulled away from Heat Shield
- CTL block removed
- Heat Shield lid removed
- Bolts for target removed
- Shims between target and insulators
The megger showed about 50kOhm at 100V with the following changes
- Target removed. Measured between cathode restraint and HS.
The megger showed OL at 540V with No 3 insulator removed. A measurement on No 3 insulator while it was sitting on the HS showed 70kOhm at 120V confirming that the insulator can no longer hold voltage.
While taking off the coil retainer plate, Chad noticed that all bolts were not tight.

Looks like the UC target s #1 and #2 were found invalidprize winners for their all inclusive trip to Chalk River and have thus been placed back in to storage for the next draw. In their place a pair of lucky Ta targets won, seems to be Ta lucky draw this year, Ta#28 and #29 have been placed in the mini storage for several fabulous day and wondrous nights, before being whisked away on their all inclusive one way trip to Chalk River. See attachments for the status of both vaults. |

Two shielding blocks above vacuum station at TH west end were opened for inspection. Checked ITH:MP1, MP2 lubricant color and level through sight gauge on pumps. They are still ok. Restored the shielding blocks. Checked ITM:MP1 by decay tank (Mirror checked sight gauge by north wall). Added lubricant to ITM:MP1 to middle level on sight gauge. |

|
On October 22 2024 the spent SIC#44 returned from CNL was repacked in a new pail it was in pail 275 and repacked into pail 298 it was 2.34mSv/hr when removed from the south hot cell.
It was placed in the very back of the mini vault. |

Wednesday, August 01, 2018, 15:12, Anders Mjos, South Hot-Cell, Standard Operation, TM2, UC#23, Target mounted - water leak on HS line
|
The heat shield water lines were not purged ahead of target exchange in the hot cell. This resulted in water leaking onto the new target assembly (heat shield) when the cooling lines were opened at top and bottom (for connecting leak detector). Excess water was wiped up with paper towels. |
Thursday, February 09, 2017, 09:24, David Wang, Conditioning Station, Development, , , Target module window cooling lines at TCS.
|
Target module window cooling lines at TCS has been modified to use spare 2 channel in TCS: WFB1. The old cooling lines used a spare channel in TCS WFB2(HVC channel) are removed and capped. After change, TCS window cooling lines will be interlocked with heaters. The test run on new lines are good. No leak on all fittings, and signals on flow and temperature are good. Control people will be noticed on this change for their following up job. |

Frank and Anders disconnected the water and electrical connections this afternoon after the target was conditioned over the weekend. The heater ramping program ran with the wrong gauge selected, causing the vacuum to go higher than planned. The module will be moved to ITW tomorrow. |
Wednesday, December 05, 2012, 15:53, Anders Mjos, South Hot-Cell, Standard Operation, , UCx#5, Target inspection - target tube broken
|
The target was inspected today.
It was found that the target tube had broken on both sides of the centre block in the region that contain target material. The Ta-foil heat shield was removed from the let side tube to allow inspection.
