Entry  Wednesday, April 17, 2013, 15:17, Bevan Moss, Conditioning Station, Standard Operation, TM3, N/A, Turbo Pumps Failed

Both Turbo pumps on TM3 have failed. They were both attempted to start in soft mode. TP2 could only achieve ~19kpm and TP1 ~10kpm. I have turned off the scroll pump and vented through the turbo pumps.

Turbo Pump 2 has been replaced on TM3. I got a count of 350 on the sleeve of my tank suit.

Entry  Tuesday, October 25, 2011, 16:57, Bevan Moss, Conditioning Station, Standard Operation, TM4, , Turbo Pump 1 issues

Roughing on TM1 started at ~15:00 today by ~16:30 the module had reached a pressure of ~200 mTorr and the turbo pumps were turned on. TP1 failed to achieve normal operation and we running at approximately 4KRPM and 50W with 6.1 A of current draw. TP2 was able to achieve normal operation. The controller for TP1 was then powered off and back on but that failed to resolve the issue. The controllers for TP1 & 2 were then switched at which point TP1 again failed normal operation and TP2 achieved it, thus eliminating the controller as the issue. The turbo pumps have been turned off and the roughing pump left on for overnight in case Vacuum group wishes to do any additional diagnosis.

Entry  Monday, March 18, 2013, 12:03, Bevan Moss, Conditioning Station, Repair, TM4, CS Test Target #1, Turbo Pump 1 Failure and Venting

Over the weekend Turbo pump one failed. It was attempted to restart the turbo in soft start but that also failed. Although the Vacuum was good enough to operate both Turbos are required to pass commissioning. As such the pumps were turned off at ~10:00 today. Venting started at 12:00.

Entry  Tuesday, March 19, 2013, 13:49, Bevan Moss, Conditioning Station, Standard Operation, TM4, CS Test Target #1, Tubros Started

Turbo Pumps have been started and are in normal operation. TP1 which has recently been replaced was started in soft start and had no issues. TP2 was started normally and tripped prior to reaching speed. It was left for a while and restarted. When restarted it was still at 17KRPM, it reached normal operation.

Base Pressure: 0.0x10-4

Stable Leak Rate: 0.0x10-9

Leak check of tube heater circuit, containment box side was performed.

Initail check at tube heater block on source tray yeilded a response 60 sec after the 2 second spray of helium. The response was very small and recovered immediately.

This area was checked twice more but the reponse could not be recreated.

Joint at the waterblocks was tested with an intial 2 sec spray. No response after 60 sec.

Waterblock joint was tested again with a 4 second spray. No response after 60 sec.

TCS:IG1S is reporting vacuum levels that seem to be too low (1E-10 to 1E-8 Torr). The gauge was connected to the controller for IG1, which showed the same value. A degas was performed for ~5 min.

This morning new water block fasteners and gas line capture nut fasteners were inserted into the hot cell. Window waterline blank off was removed from TM2, surfaces inspected and given a polish with Veltex (30 seconds, 70 psi) as there was a small bit of c seal residue. Transfer try with new source tray has been latched to the module.

Repair of the tray transfer fixture is complete (minus testing).

A distorted ball nut lock plate was replaced and thread loc added. to the ball nut/plate assembly. Testing will take place tomorrow once the thread lock has a chance to cure.

Bevan and I transferred five shielding blocks from ITW to ITE. ITE is ready for taking proton beam.

Transfer fixture has been remotely disassembled to the point where the ball nut lock plate assembly can be inserted into the tool port and the plate replaced by hand in the tool port without having to enter the hot cell. Straight head screws will be replaced with SHCS to facilitate easier re-assembly and future disassembly.

Entry  Monday, January 22, 2024, 10:16, David Wang, ITE, Standard Operation, TM4, UCx#, Tm4 waterlines helium pressure test and TM service cap helium leak check.

Tm4 waterlines helium pressure test and TM service cap helium leak check was done last Friday. All water lines were pressurized with 70psi helium for 3 minutes each. The 3 minutes stable leak rate on all lines are less than 4.0 X E-9atm.cc/sec. some of lines had surging leak rate to 2xE-8 atm.cc/sec at the first 10 seconds of pressurization which should be a gas hammer result at the beginning. Based on the numbers, I would say all water lines are leak free still.  I did helium spray on TM4 service cap. There could be a small leak in high E-9 atm. cc/sec on ion gauge and steer service panel o-ring.  I will replace this o-ring when module is moved out of ITE. Other seals are leak free or less than 2.5X E-9 atm.cc/sec leak rate which are good. I am pretty confirm there is a small leak on ITE entrance module top. The leak rate and location will be confirmed when the rest of leak checks in ITE pit are done.

Entry  Tuesday, May 15, 2018, 10:21, David Wang, Conditioning Station, Standard Operation, TM4, , Tm4 water circles helium pressur test result

Helium pressure test on TM4  water lines is done this morning. 70 psi helim , 1 minutes time to each circle. The result:

A(oven+): 0.00xE-9 atm.cc/sec

B(Oven -): 8.1Xe-7 atm.cc/sec

C(tube -): 0.00xE-9 atm.cc/sec

D(tube+): 1.0xE-5 atm.cc/sec

PQ(coil 2): capped on top. water lines were removed because of leak

RU(Coil1): 0.00xE-9 atm.cc/sec

EE: 0.00xE-9 atm.cc/sec

MSP: 0.00xE-9 atm.cc/sec

HS: No target, capped on top. It was fine on last target check in 2017 Oct.

window: Capped on top. Containment box is not installed.

The leak check on D line caused the IG1 small response during test.

B and D circle are double checked. The reasults are same.

D line leak is in E-5 atm.cc/sec range. It is possible to locate it by using helium spray method in SHC. The containment box is not on so it should be easy to do it.

Switch on IGA gauge at TCS and apply helium and water at certain psi to check the IGA response may give us more information on these leaks.

All lines were test in last year shut down. They were good.
