RU( coil 1), F (anode), and 60kv bias(HS, Gasline, and MSP) are shorted together. Other lines are good. They are measured between individual line each other @500V. The megga showed OL. All of them to ground are OL @500V as well. EL is grounded during check. |
Tuesday, May 02, 2017, 18:33, Aurelia Laxdal, South Hot-Cell, Repair, TM3, no target, TM3 HV tests at atmosphere for Each Line(s) after the Fiber Glass removal May 2, 2017
|
Today a HV test at atmosphere was performed for Each Line(s), while floating the other lines. THIS TEST AT ATMOSPHERE IS THE FIRST ONE AFTER THE FIBER GLASS WAS REMOVED.
Please note:
a). the Einzel Lens line (Y) was grounded.
b). after the fiber glass was removed the "R-U COIL" line and the "(F) Plasma" (which is the Anode line) were shorted to the BIAS voltage.
Tests performed:
1. Applied up to 32kV to "(A) OVEN -"
Sparks occurred at 32kV between the Extraction Electrode holder and the Ground Electrode.
2. Applied up to 33kV to "(B) OVEN +"
Sparks occurred at 33kV but we could not identify the spark location.
3. Applied up to 31kV to "(C) TUBE -"
Sparks occurred at 31kV between the Extraction Electrode holder and the Ground Electrode, at the top and the bottom.
4. Applied up to 30kV to "(D) TUBE +"
Sparks occurred at 30kV between the Extraction Electrode holder and the Ground Electrode, 2 spots at the bottom.
5. Applied up to 30kV to "(P-Q) COIL +"
Sparks occurred at 30kV between the Extraction Electrode holder and the Ground Electrode, all around.
6. Applied up to 30kV to "(R-U) COIL -", to "(F) Plasma" the Anode, to "(E) Cavity" or MSP, "(G) Gas", and "(J) Heat Shield" - all these are "connected" together at the BIAS voltage.
Sparks occurred around 29-30kV at the Extraction Electrode holder and the Ground Electrode, at the bottom.
8. Applied up to 23kV to "(I) EE" - this is for the Extraction Electrode.
Sparks occurred at 23kV again at the same spot near the bottom, between the Extraction Electrode holder and the Ground Electrode.

|
Chad and Anders inspected the test target in the hot cell today. The lid had been previously removed.
- The EE looked to have performed well.
- A piece of Ta foil was found inside the heat shield. It is not clear if this has been there during operation or if it entered the heat shield while in the hot cell. The foil has markings which indicate that it has seen heat.
- Travis measured 40 MOhm at 500V between heat shield and anode after the target was removed.

UCx#19 has been removed from TM4 and UCx#20 installed.
UCx#19 still had water in it at pressure and sprayed when the VCR was undone. It was quickly re-tightened but not before significant water pooled beside the main Mykroy standoff and table. Contacted Anders would suggested to soak it up with some wipes and continue, which I did.
New target fasteners including high current. High current fasteners torqued to 130 in lbs. |

Chad and I finished leak check on HS line with UCx target installed on it. Base Leak rate:0.0X 10^-9 atm.cc/sec, Base pressure 0.0X 10 ^-4 torr. Sprayed helium to VCR joints. No leak has been found . The line will be pressurized with helium at TCS.
Helium pressure test on TM4 HS line is done at TCS. BLR 0.0XE-9 atm.cc/sec. 70psi helium , 2 minutes. No response. The line is leak free. |

The target was inspected by Chad and Anders. Photos are available on DocuShare. It was noticed that the target tube heater terminals had lifted up from the insulator on the target assembly as seen in this Photo. This has later been detemined to be from the assembly, where additional clearance was required and achieved by installing washers. |

HS line is leak checked at SHC this afternoon by helium spay. Leak detector base LR 0.0 XE-9atm.cc/sec. Base pressure 0.0Xe-4 torr. No leak has been found. This line will be helium pressured at TCS. It had a 1.7XE-7 atm.cc/sec leak rate on 70 psi helium at TCS during last two target checks.
2017-08-03. Helium pressure test on TM2 HS line at TCS is done. 70psi helium, 3 minutes. base leak rate 0.0xE-7 atm.cc/sec. Result: 1.8XE-7atm.cc/sec leak which is almost same as before. This line has a very small leak on water block seal under helium pressure test which we knew already. |

Entered hot cell to preform replacement of slave tong cable. Existing cable shows no signs of wear so it has been re-installed. A spare tong cable has been loaded into a spare tong while in the hot cell in preparation for next time this cable needs to be replaced. |
