Dan and I stopped the CS and TM4 pumps. We are venting the CS with argon for UCX13 target. |
Tuesday, September 15, 2015, 08:24, David Wang, South Hot-Cell, Repair, TM1, UCx 13, Leak check on TM1 window circuit soldering stems in service cap.
|
I did a leak check on TM1 window circuit 2 soldering stems in service cap.The round side panel was opened for the job. I sprayed helium on the stems for 10 seconds. The leak detector got a tiny response(from 0.0xE-9 atm.cc/sec to 2.0xE-9 atm.cc/sec). The test repeated again. The second time, LD climbed to 1.2xE-9atm.cc/sec. It looks like there is a very tiny leak on the stems soldering spots. But , this is not the same leak we found from SHC helium spray which LD climbed to 1.4xE-8atm.cc/sec with only one click helium spray by Chad.
Because of the high air flow at SHC when the round panel is removed, The result is not conclusive. The same test is done at silo without airflow. We found a big leak on this soldering stems . See later e-log. |

Tuesday, January 07, 2025, 12:05, David Wang, ITE, Standard Operation, TM3, UCx #47, ITE primary and secondary vacuum vessel leak check for 2025 shut down
|
ITE primary and secondary vacuum vessel leak check for 2025 shut down have been done. No leak. The TM3 waterlines helium pressure test will be done at TCS when module is there.
TM3 water lines helium pressure test are done. 70 psi helium 3 minutes to each line( except HS which has no target on it ) . leak detector base leak rate :0.0Xe-9 atm.cc/sec. No leak on all tested water lines.Helium were purged out after test. and 60 psi nitrogen were filled in lines for storage. |
Thursday, February 17, 2022, 13:24, David Wang, Spent Target Vault, Maintenance, , UCx #34, Repackage of UCx #34in NHC.
|
UCX34# in pail 258(Vault lot 7C) has been repacked today. It is an investigation to find a possible leak source of radioactive Iodine in vault. The new pail number is 268. It is back to vault 7c . I wrote down the information in log book. The job is smooth today. I retrieved UCx 34 old pail and liner to TH. The liner from UCx#34 only has 3000 counts. I bagged it. It could be used later. However, the pail has 500K counts contamination on bottom outside rim. It may accidently be slided out of plastic bag and touched the NHC table during the repackage. I bagged it and store it in silo area. When we do drum clean up, I will throw it in the drum. |
Tuesday, November 22, 2011, 15:07, Bevan Moss, Conditioning Station, Standard Operation, TM1, UCx #3, HV testing
|
High Voltage (HV) testing was completed on TM1 today. Vacuum was very good 1.9 x 10^-7 T in the service cap, 3.2 x 10^-7 in the containment box, and 2.0 x 10^-6 in the secondary. The voltage was successfully brought up to 27kV with a current draw of 0.12mA and o sparking. At the next step, 30 kV, the current draw was above 0.3mA and sparking was beyond 20 sparks per minute. The module should not be taken above 27kV. There is the possibility this voltage can be increased with conditioning but it is very unlikely. See attached for a graph of the testing. These results are comparable to the results without the source tray (see previous elog) |
Thursday, August 18, 2011, 13:12, chad fisher, South Hot-Cell, Standard Operation, TM1, UCx #2, UCx #2 Installation
|
UCx #2 has been installed onto TM1.
Installation went well except the left leg got bent slightly sometime between testing on the jig and installation onto the module (probably during removal for the argon filled bag). Leg was gentle offered into place and its clearance with the heat shield double checked with both a mirror and goose neck camera. Leg was close to ther heat shield but appeared to have clearance. Anders and John Wong viewed this and deemed it ok. Video images of this clearance were recorded.
Leak checking was also completed successfully:
Base pressure on the leak detector was a constant 0.0 x 10-4, Stable leak rate was an unwavering 0.0 x 10-9.
Both heat sheild circuits were checked twice (starting with the highest gland) and sprayed with a 2 second burst of helium into the test hole in the nut. No reponses were seen after 1 minute an any of the circuits.
Bevan Moss and David Wang performed an electrical check which they relayed to me that the module with target installed had passed.

Isaac and I leak checked TM4 HS line with new UCX target. The leak detector base LR 0.0xE-9 atm.cc/sec, base pressure0.0xE-4torr. Isaac sprayed helium on both VCR connections(5 seconds each) and flushed helium around the target for 6 seconds. No response on leak detector. |

Connected leak detector to TM1 and CS vacuum system. The vacuum readings on TM1 and CS:PNG4 3.6 xE-6 Torr, IG1 1.1xE-6torr, IG4(diagnostic box) 3.4xE-6 Torr. Leak detector base pressure:0.0xE-4 torr, base leak rate: 0.0xE-9 atm.cc/sec. Applied 80 psi helium to heat shield circuit for 4 mins . There is no response on leak detector. The heat shield circuit is leak tight. |

Wednesday, September 12, 2012, 11:59, David Wang, ITW, Standard Operation, TM1, UCx, TM1 disconnected in ITW
|
I removed 5 shielding blocks from ITW to block storage area, and disconnected TM1 in ITW. After UCx run, the radioactive level around the turbo pumps and primary vacuum lines are pretty high. This affect the general field inside the ITW pit around working area.i took 15 minuts to finish the job and i got 0.1msvr dose. the general field around my working area is about 350 usv/h. |
