During the weekend condition The TM4 spark at 30KV without vacuum response. It is confirmed the spark is from the top TM4 this morning. The flexible cables in a  black wire sleeve which is used for febiad X pin connection drooped too close to the TM4 surface plate, and caused the sparking. The problem is fixed by Anders and David. The cables is put back where it should stay.  After test, no sparking on the top.

  • Ta#68 was loaded into pail# 300
  • PEEK seal parasitic assemblies loaded (PEEK seals were removed in ID: 2724)
  • Farran had some old samples that also went in (More details to come when Farran sends the info)

Lid/latching:

  • This went smoothly

Bail attachment:

  • Some difficulty in attaching the Lifting Bail, but went on smoothly with the help of Chad

Notes:

  • One of the PEEK seal parasitic Target assembly lids was missed in the loading. This will have to be loaded next time.
  • All parasitic type targets remain in the yellow container shown in photos below.

24/Noc/2020

USB was discovered to be in the reverse direction and will need to be change around to become operational

01/Dec/2020

USB was pulled from conduit

While attempting to re-pull the USB in the correction direction, the ethernet cable was damaged and need to be replaced,

(thanks to the Hubert's team for the wire help)

It was decided that it was too problematic to re-pull the wires with all other wires in the way. Therefore all the wires were removed from the operator control panel, and pulled so that the USB, USB power cord, and ethernet could be re-pulled all together.

However, even once all the wires were re-pulled and reconnected it was discovered that the USB had become damaged, and was removed again.

23/Dec/2020

- A new conduit was added through to the NHC, for only the USB

- USB was fed through, reconnected, and tested

- Putty will need to be added around the conduit to ensure a good seal into NHC

Today (2025-01-20), six flasks were loaded in preparation for shipment with the following targets: C#4, TiC#5, Ta#64,Ta#62, Nb#10, SiC#44

Some of the pails (256, 273, 279, 277) required replacement of the wire rope cable with new style, 30 ft length, as requested by CNL. A lifting label was also applied to these pails. Some of the pails (295, 298) already had the appropriate cable and lifter label.

At the time of writing this log:

  • The second crimped lifting loop has not yet been applied to each pail.
  • The locks have not yet been applied to the flasks.

The mini-storage vault is now EMPTY. The mini-storage vault has been swiped and checked for contamination.

The target index spreadsheet has been updated (attached).

Today (2024-07-05), five flasks were loaded in preparation for shipment with the following targets: SiC#43 (Pail 272), SiC#44 (Pail 275), Ta#63 (Pail 266), UC#40 (Pail 278), UC#38 (Pail 274).

The crimped lifting loop has been applied to each pail. The locks have not yet been applied to the flasks at the time of writing this log, but will be done next week.

The mini-storage vault is now EMPTY. Because some of the pails had contamination (200 - 1500 CPM), it is highly recommended that the mini-storage vault be cleaned or at least swiped for contamination.

The target index spreadsheet has been updated (attached).

Entry  Wednesday, July 10, 2024, 09:55, Adam Newsome, Safe Module Parking, Maintenance, , , Annual electrical and mechanical inspection of Safe Module Parking  PXL_20240710_160636341.jpgPXL_20240710_160506424.jpg

An annual electrical and mechanical inspection was performed on the SMP today by Adam Newsome, Travis Cave, Riley Sykes, Maico Dalla Valle, and Jason Zhang as per Work Permit  I2024-07-10-1. The following items were checked:

  • Check condition of wiring for physical/radiation/UV damage
    • OK, no signs of significant damage
  • Check for cable tray debris or damage
    • There were multiple items in the cable tray which do not belong there - misc. pieces of wood and metal... these items were not disposed of but should be in the near future
  • Check inside control panel: components and wiring, labeling
    • Labeling intact, components in good condition
    • Misc. random wires pulled to check... OK
  • Verify camera views
    • This was not inspected in detail as it is something that would be done prior to remote operation
  • Check connectors for damage
    • All connectors OK
  • Check pendant for damage and verify labeling intact
    • Pendant OK
  • Lid open/close test
    • Lid was opened and close multiple times - smooth operation, no concern
    • Lid close logic was checked - OK
  • Vessel rotation and limit switch check
    • Both CW and CCW limits were checked, functioning
    • No concern on rotation - chain drive, rotary limit switch, and cable reel all functioning normally
  • Lubricate chains
    • Not done - should be done next year
  • Inspect tensioners
    • Done - OK
  • Tighten fasteners
    • Not all fasteners were checked - washers will be replaced soon so this was not deemed necessary
    • Approximately 50 washers are missing for socket head screws in slotted parts. Not safety critical but they should be replaced soon.
  • Visual inspection
    • All OK

Overall the inspection was successful.

Entry  Tuesday, June 18, 2024, 15:04, Adam Newsome, Spent Target Vault, Maintenance, , , Annual Inspection of Main and Mini Storage Vaults  PXL_20240618_213819000.jpgPXL_20240618_213905146.jpg

The annual inspection of the main storage vault will be skipped this year since extensive inspection and testing was performed during the re-alignment job in May (see this e-log for details: e-log 2584). This included successful testing of the emergency close mechanism.

The mini storage vault was informally inspected by Adam Newsome on 2024-06-18. The following was checked:

  • Cabling and cable management
  • Connectors (note: the strain relief for the remote control input cable was loose - it was tightened)
  • Controls box - external connectors and wiring
  • Limit switches - wiring, mounting
  • Motor visual check
  • Drive wheels visual check
  • Drive track visual check (note: the track had small pieces of metal shavings on it which were wiped off)
  • Bearings visual check
  • Miscellaneous fasteners visual check

Photos can be found in G:\remote handling\Facilities and Projects\ISAC\Mini Storage Vault\Inspections

The inspection was generally successful. No areas of concern. Regular inspection will resume next year.

Entry  Tuesday, June 06, 2023, 15:10, Antoniette Yap, Spent Target Vault, Maintenance, , , Annual Inspection of Main and Mini Storage Vaults

The annual inspection of the mini-storage vault and main storage vault was completed June 23, 2023. The following items were checked:

  • Cabling and cable management
  • Connectors
  • Controls box - internal wiring and components, functionality
  • Limit switches - functionality, wiring, mounting
  • Motor
  • Bearings
  • Set screws
  • Miscellaneous fasteners

The inspection was generally successful. A couple of minor findings were:

  • Bearings for both the main and mini storage vaults must be greased. This is planned for a different day as it involves removing the mini vault's door.
  • There was a small piece of metal on the track for the mini storage vault which was causing the door to "bump" over it as it passed over. This piece was removed and the door behaved normally.
  • The wheel track for the main storage vault was dirty - it was cleaned
  • It was suggested that the 120 VAC power cable for the mini storage vault controls box should be connectorized - this will be added to the "to-do list" for the future
