After few hickups the TCS was successfuly commissioned.

In the morning, in the middle of the heaters conditioning: 360A/250A for the TGHT/TBHT, the target heater PS tripped and it didn't recover immediately.  I cannot tell if the card is still OK. Before this even, there were few bias current sparks created when the ionized tube was raised above 250A; this also tripped the Einzel lens. Re-started the Heaters, and did the conditioning with the rest (HV, Optics) Off. After the heaters were at nominal values, raised the rest: HV to 30kV and the Optics. And everything held fine. The current on the FC was 3micro-Amperes. The water temperature levels stayed below 25 deg Celsius.

The problems that need to be fixed:

1. The biggest problem was created by the target power supply: the new card is not calibrated, the voltage is not regulating, but the main problem is the grounding of the output of power supply. Friedhelm measured 0.2V across the return and the cage (200mili-ohms resistance) .  This was probably overlooked.

2. The Auto-ramping routine didn't work. Controls would need to fix this.

3. The RGA didn't want to connect from the account Don created for me. So, we have only a RGA scan taken on Friday by Don, when the target was cold.

 Response to item 1.

This morning I investigated the output of the TGHT power supply. The negative output of the power supply is tied to common as per ISK4574D Rev 7 (attached) and the released drawing IRH1511 Rev A (PDF attached but officially located in the SW vault). If this is not the intent of the IRH1511 should be released to Rev C reflecting the desired configuration.

In regards to the calibration of the card I will inform the PS group.

Today, the commissioning of the TCS went well. The water/vacuum interlocks were checked OK. Then, the TCS was HV conditioned up to 33kV.

Tomorrow, the heaters will be ramped up.

coil line has been removed from the hot cell. Initial decon was performed...after it still appears to have approximately 200 counts. It will now be transfered to the rad waste decon facility for further decon.

David and I checked circuits p and q (the water cooled coil ciruit) for flow this morning as, with the source tray still in the module, there was both a leak and a leak tight blockage. Both p and q allowed air flow through them confirming that the blockage was in the surce tray side of the system.

The heat shield circuit was also tested for flow and it passed.

Coil line has been in RPG's ultrasonic decon over night. Initial swipes this morning picked up 5000 counts. It has been decontaminated to the point no more contamination is being found and nothing can be found with the frisker...so...it's ready for Maico and Dan?

The cleanup of the ISAC Target Hall crane and installation of the new SICK laser which replaced the IBEO laser for the EW crane position was completed on Aug 03 2023.

The clean up tasks which were completed: (Removal of tape viewing camera, Removal of tape, Installation of extension cord, Consolidation of power supplies for the lasers and removal of old laser)

Currently power bar is still present to act as an extension cable. This will be removed when 2m extension cord is made and put in next target exchange cycle.

The installation and testing of new SICK Laser:

1. Calibration points were taken at the 4 corner limits of the crane. North South and East West positions were recorded.

2. Crane was parked at the ladder access position and mounting bracket was machined and installed.

3. A new cable was made and installed for the SICK laser. Continuity test was performed from the control room and crane to ensure pinout of the laser worked with existing serial communication setup in the control room PC.

4. The feedback values from the new SICK laser and old IBEO laser were compared to determine that a calibration offset of 0.06m was needed in the Laser Position Feedback program.

5. Laser Position Feedback program was re-compiled to communicate with 2x SICK lasers with the calibration offset value included in the EW feedback position. (Laser Crane PositionDlg.cpp)

6. Calibration points were taken at the 4 corner limits of the crane again with the new Laser. North South and East West positions were recorded.

There was less than 0.1% variance between the new laser and old laser which is well within the tolerance of the lasers themselves. It can be determined that it was properly calibrated.

NOTE: If there is a problem with the chiller unit (ie Fault 1 or Fault 2), a power cycle may reset the VFDs for the fans and clear the problem. To do so it is necessary to wait long enough for the VFDs to power off completely. The display will first start to flash before going dark. Wait another few seconds before powering the system back up. The chiller unit is located on the ISAC I Penthouse Roof.

A service tech from Daikine was on site today and has cleaned the chiller unit. In the process he also cycled the power which returned the operation back to normal. The tech provided us with manuals for the VFDs. These can be consulted on DocuSharefor looking up error codes.

Fault 1 refers to unit 1 and Fault 2 to unit 2.

ESC came today and "repaired" the chiller. There was something wrong with the VFD controller. The were able to get it to start and run correctly again but were not able to recreate the problem. At this point it appears that it has magically disappeared.

Entry  Tuesday, April 23, 2013, 16:11, Bevan Moss, Conditioning Station, Maintenance, TM3, N/A, Chiller Fault 2

During Testing it was noticed that Fault 2 was indicated and one of the compressors would not run. Fault 2 does not indicate what the issue was and during inspection nothing could be detected. It had something to do with TCS:CHILCP3 and possibly CP2. CP1 could still be operated and was controlled manually to keep the temperature in the correct range. This was not required but it does affect the conductivity. The main power switch on the chiller unit was turned on and off and the fault was cleared. As far as I know this indicated either a freeze protect, flow, or refrigerant pressure fault. I will ask for TCS:TS6 and TCS:DIF2 to be added to the archiver so this can be further investigated in the future.

Entry  Tuesday, August 06, 2019, 01:13, Carla Babcock, Conditioning Station, Repair, TM4, Dummy HP SIS target, Checks on EE line leak fix and window line leak (not fixed)

TM4 has developed 4 leaks so far:

  1. Line B - seems to be solved with an indium gasket (some testing already done)
  2. Line D - seems to be solved with an indium gasket (some testing already done)
  3. EE - indium gasket installed, preliminary tests are good
  4. Window cooling line - David found with 70 psi helium, leak detector response went from 3E-7 atm.cc/sec to 4E-4torr atm.cc/sec in 1 min and stayed there. When water was put through the circuit, there was an initial vacuum increase to about 1E-6, then a couple hours later it began to fall and has been falling for ~14hrs, now in the 7E-7 range for IG1.

Testing indium seals on lines B, D, EE. No repair has been done for window line. Ramping heaters to TGHT=450A, TBHT=200A. Everything behaving normally.

Wednesday, ramped up BIAS, EZL and EE to 36kV, 17kV, 1.5kV. Sparking at about 1 spark per 20 - 30 mins. Bias current somewhere between 66uA and 78uA, varying with the chiller ON/OFF.

Thursday morning around 2am everything tripped off. No spark visible on strip tool, seems this is from an increase in the window water leak. Vacuum recovered on its own and heaters were ramped back up.
