435   Thursday, August 29, 2013, 09:08 chad fisherSouth Hot-CellRepairTM3 Heat Shield Circuit Leak

The heat shield circuit was pressurized with air (15-20 psi) and snoop applied to the water block joint and brazes. Bubbles formed at the joint between the two water blocks indicating that the leak is a c seal problem. Pictures attached but also on docushare Collection-11285.

  506   Thursday, October 17, 2013, 10:24 chad fisherSouth Hot-CellRepairTM4 Coil Line Removal

The containment box was removed from TM4 earlier this morning in preparation for removal of the C2 circuit water lines, their respective water blocks and conductor block.

  509   Friday, October 18, 2013, 13:43 chad fisherSouth Hot-CellRepairTM4 C2 Circuit Removal

The C2 circuit (coil 2) water lines and blocks have been revoed from TM4.

Water block jig could not be used as the window water block connection was nowhere near fitting into the jig (IMG_1224 image below) and therefore caused an interference causing the rest of the blocks to not mate with the jig. A different tool that has never been used was implimented and sucessful (IMG_1227 below).

Sorry about the picture numbering format...new format will be implimented next time.

  534   Monday, November 04, 2013, 10:46 chad fisherSouth Hot-CellRepairTM2 TM2 Exploration

TM2 is now in the hot cell with the containment box off for inspection and eventual blank off off the water blocks.

Upon initail inspection the status (fron a hot cell point of view) is:

-Water block jig is equipped/on

-There is a thermocouple line that will need to be removed

-TM2 requires a new front containment box cover - already manufactured and waiting for installation

The old thermocouple wire has been sucessfully removed from the module.

Thanks Bevan, Travis and David.

543   Thursday, November 14, 2013, 08:08 chad fisherSouth Hot-CellRepairTM2 TM2 Blank off and jig removal

Firday, November 8 all water blocks (excluding I and K) were blanked off and vacuum leak checked. No responses were found. (First Picture)

I and K could not be blanked off without removal of the water block jig. Also, I dropped one of the blank offs onto the table, so one line could not be blanked off until a new clean blank off was inserted into the cell. In addition, there was still reminace of a bolt in block Ias it aslo could not be removed until the water block jig was removed.

Tuesday, November 12 a new blank off was put into the cell. The water block jig was removed, which was very easy, confirming documentation from installation (in 2008?) that it fit very well / the blocks were bent and soldered to the jig very carefully.

Screw was removed from I and both I and K were blanked off and vacuum leak checked. No response. (Second Piccture)

Containment box was re-installed and module ready to move to the conditioning station by noon.

  560   Friday, November 29, 2013, 11:54 chad fisherSouth Hot-CellRepairTM3 Steerer short investegation

Using in cell camera and transit the suspect line on the steerers was inspected as best as possible. An existing photo of the complete steerers before installation was used for comparison. The wiring and beading inspected today showed no obvious problems, breaks or spots where there may be a short. In comparison to the photo from construction, what we could see of the steerers looked identical to the original installation.

  569   Wednesday, December 04, 2013, 13:57 chad fisherSouth Hot-CellStandard OperationTM4Ta #47Ta #47 Removed - broken bolt

Ta #47 has been removed from TM4.

One containment box cover bolt would not come out. Upon attempted removal with the stud remover the bolt sheared...which is not uncommon...just hasn't happened in many years...CBB being stuck or shearing.

Nine pin connector shows the typical "arcing" mark.

  579   Thursday, January 09, 2014, 11:07 chad fisherSouth Hot-CellMaintenance  Field Level

I have managed to reduce the field at the broken manipulator from 12 mSv/h to 400 uSv/h.

  580   Thursday, January 16, 2014, 10:36 chad fisherSouth Hot-CellRepair  East Manipulator Repair

The repair/cable replacement on the east manipulator is now complete.

Yesterday's initail cable replacement went very well however, due to a minor glich, we were unable to test the tong movement until I was out of the hot cell. Tong did not fully close and felt like there was a "hard stop" at a repeatable spot in the  closing of the tong. Upon further investagation, I determined that the problem was definelty on the slave side.

I conducted a troublshooting exercise this morning to narrow down the problem. I quickly found that the new tong came from the manufacture with two incorrect fasteners (socket head cap screws) instead of set screws. As a result the tong was being kept from closing as the head of the socket head cap screws was interfering.

I replaced the SHCS was the set screws from the old tong. The tong now functions with full range of motion.

Jan. 16, 16 minutes in cell (as I did some clean up of compressable waste) .05 mSv

Also, the inital repair utilized a prototype tool I designed (and with assistance from Maico, built). This tool made the repair much easier. I will be making small improvements to the design and issuing drawings to the vault and shop.

  595   Friday, February 07, 2014, 10:29 chad fisherSouth Hot-CellRepairTM2 TM2 C.B. and circuit D

Containment box has been removed and the blank off from circuit D has been removed for inspection of both the blank off and water block sealing surface.

  596   Tuesday, February 11, 2014, 13:56 chad fisherSouth Hot-CellRepairTM2 waterblock cleaning

New cleaning and polishing pads have been inserted onto the hot cell as well as rubber bungs and a new blank off.

The inital waterblock cleaning with the "scotch bright" pads has been completed. See attached pictures...the first picture being before and the second after.

Tommorow the water block will have bungs put in and a leak check to check the block will take place. After that, the new blank off will be installed and tested.

Ta#42 has been installed onto TM4. The "new" 9 pin connector was not an issue...attually went on better than any other previous one. Leaving the mounting screws loose on the target half allowed use of the manipulator to center the pins and insert them with ease.
