TM#3 has been moved from the south west silo to the south hot cell for the start of its second refurb/repair. The fields of the module when it was lowed in was 2msv/hr.

  131   Thursday, June 21, 2012, 14:30 chad fisherSouth Hot-CellRepairTM3N/ATM3 Refurbishment Start

Started refurb of TM3.

Planned activities:

Inspection

Water line blank off

Started 1:00pm

  • Video inspection before containment box removed - noticed discoloration on top right (if looking from h/c window) 4" insulator
  • Containment box cover removed
  • Containment box removed

As I am much older, wiser and handsomer then last time I removed this style of box, I realised there was a better, safer procedure for the removal...I will be updating the doc. accordingly.

End 2:25 pm

  133   Monday, June 25, 2012, 07:53 chad fisherSouth Hot-CellRepairTM3N/ATM3 Refurb. Work

On Friday, June 22 the following work was carried out.

  • Further inspection of the source tray.
  • Testing of existing tray removal and installation tool...it works fine, there was just a specific method for proper coupling to the target module. There was no documentation for this tool, so it took a little bit of insight with the drawings and a little trial and error. A document should be written for this tool so its proper use is documented...I will do this.
  • Blank-offs installed on heat shield water lines.
  • New gaskets installed on window water lines.
  • Containment box re-installed.

135   Tuesday, June 26, 2012, 14:10 David WangSouth Hot-CellRepairTM3 TM3 heat shield and window circuits leak check is done.

Chad and i did a leak check on TM3 heat shield and window circuits. Both circuits are pumped easily down to the bottom leak rate and base pressure on the leak detector. There are two VCR caps on heat shield circuit. Chad sprayed helium on both of them   ( tested individually,2 seconds every time ) . There is no response on leakdetecor during 45 seconds waiting time. On window circuit there are 2 VCR joints. Chad sprayed helim on these joints(2seconds for each), and no response on leak detector. All joints  are double checked(sprayed twice on each of them). The result is they are leak tight.

  301   Wednesday, April 17, 2013, 09:26 Travis CaveSouth Hot-CellStandard OperationTM3no targetElectrical check

Electrical check was performed on TM#3 with no target nothing was wrong was found, but our megger does not go above 1000 volts so any problems above this value would not be seen, see attached pdf for details.

Also the 55 pin(top) double 9 pin (bottom) connector was tested as well. When it was meggered to 60kV common more then 50% of the lines failed, when those line were identified with a resistance package two were unable to be indentified. The wiring for this double 9 pin connector should be removed to prevent HV problems. New wiring is not physically possible to re-install in its place, see the PDF for the wiring details.

Both Turbo pumps on TM3 have failed. They were both attempted to start in soft mode. TP2 could only achieve ~19kpm and TP1 ~10kpm. I have turned off the scroll pump and vented through the turbo pumps.

TM3 leak check at conditioning station without target: TM3 all air to vacuum seals have been leak checked . They are all good. Water lines TAR(+-), TUBE(+-), GAS, MSP , COIL2(+-), EE, HS(1,2) , GE,and WINDOW have been helium pressurized to 70 psi for 2 minutes each . No response had been found on leak detector. They are leak tight.. Leak detector BR 0.0xE-9atm.cc/sec, BP 0.0xE-4 torr. TM3 and CS vacuum: PNG15.2xE-6 torr, IG1 8.8xE-7 torr,IG2 2.8xE-6torr, IG1S 1.3xE-6 torr.

The flow meter on the primary side (TCS:DIF2) of the conditioning station is broken. I investigated and there is flow, the gauge is not fouled, and the PLC does read back when current supplied. The gauge is also reciving 24V but the output is 0V and 0mA. I will contact ESC and the supplier.
