The Target Assembly was inspected with Chad, Jens Henning and Anders today.
- The Target Container was broken.
- Material was deposited on the Heat Shield around the Target Center Block
- Material was deposited on the IG-LIS source.
- Electrical checks to ground (HS)
- The Extraction Electrode passed the electrical check at 1000V
- The Exit Electrode (c) held only 40V at 22 kOhm
- The IG Electrode 1 (f) held 250V at 390 MOhm
- The IG Electrode 2 (g) held only 40V at 22 kOhm
- IG 1 and IG 2 both held 250V at 450 MOhm to Exit Electorde (c)
- No spark marks were observed on the 9-pin connector

|
David W. has installed two SST Proteus flow meters, model OV7006FTA32, on ITW Heat Shield and Coil. The flow meters are connected to a power supply and a data logger in the electrical room.
The Heat Shield flow meter has SN 00278112 and is on the Black wire pairs and connected to CH3 & CH4 on the logger.
The Coil flow meter has SN 00278113 and is on the Green wire pairs and connected to CH1 & CH2 on the logger.
The first channel (CH1, CH3) is temperature in degrees Celcius and the second channel (CH2, CH4) is flow rate in liters per minute.
A camera has been placed on the logger.
Flow rates today (2014-04-04):
HS 8.2 - 8.3 lpm
COIL 8.0 - 8.1 lpm
Calibration sheets
UPDATE 2014-04-11: Corrected HS to CH3 & CH4. |

Tuesday, June 24, 2014, 15:14, Anders Mjos, South Hot-Cell, Standard Operation, TM3, TiC#4, Conductor insulator broken close to right TGHT terminal
|
When the Containment Box was opened today by Chad for a target change, we found the conductor insulator block B (ITD0054) to be broken close to the right TGHT terminal. Chad was nevertheless able to remove the target. See DocuShare and attached file for photos.
An attempt to replace the insulator will be made tomorrow with a spare.
A small sticky piece, likely off plastic material, was found next to the left main source tray insulator. The piece was removed from the Containment Box. See link above and attachment for photos. |

The BIAS voltage was brought up between 1:30pm and 5pm. Sparks tripped the BIAS power supply at voltages between 20 - 24 kV. Multiple attempts were made. The current was about 50-60 uA.

Temperature in the cooling circuit is too hight to do a HV test. The cooling circuit was started, but shuts off after ~10 m
Thursday, October 16, 2014
David and I found that the fans on the cooling unit on the roof did not run and that the compressors get hot and likely trip on over temperature protection (hot to the touch). We found the manual in the control panel of the unit.
10am: HV to 20kV before a spark tripped the PS. Current at 40 uA - resistivity at 11.9 Mohm
5pm: HV to 20kV before fluctuations in current, then a spark tripped the PS. Current around 40 uA. Resistivity 12.6 Mohm
Friday, October 17, 2014
8am: Staging did not start over night. TS5 temp is 31 deg C, which would have tripped power supplies. Reset and enabled staging.
The system increased staging until all 3 compressors were running.
9am: Cooling supply temperature reached ~3 deg C. Disabled staging and switched off all pumps
2pm: Switched off water circulation for the weekend.

Thursday, October 16, 2014, 15:40, Anders Mjos, Conditioning Station, Maintenance, , , Chiller unit
|
NOTE: If there is a problem with the chiller unit (ie Fault 1 or Fault 2), a power cycle may reset the VFDs for the fans and clear the problem. To do so it is necessary to wait long enough for the VFDs to power off completely. The display will first start to flash before going dark. Wait another few seconds before powering the system back up. The chiller unit is located on the ISAC I Penthouse Roof.
A service tech from Daikine was on site today and has cleaned the chiller unit. In the process he also cycled the power which returned the operation back to normal. The tech provided us with manuals for the VFDs. These can be consulted on DocuSharefor looking up error codes.
Fault 1 refers to unit 1 and Fault 2 to unit 2. |
