147   Monday, July 16, 2012, 11:55 Bevan MossCraneRepair  Crane has stopped working

Bevan Moss wrote:

In the AM today David and I used the crane to raise the ground plate sheet metal into place. This afternoon when I attempted to return the crane to its usual place I discovered that the crane no longer worked. Upon further inspection it appears that the PLC has lost power. I will follow up on this Monday morning. The crane is not supporting any load at this point.

Turns out I am just not very observant. David had turned the main break to the crane off as a result when he turned it back on this morning the crane magically started working again.

Today, I checked TH crane main hoist  when shielding plug is installed into ITE pit. I did  some jogging actions on main hoist during the operation. Everything looks fine. No burning smell, no strange noise. An outside crane expert suggest that jogging is the worst working situation for crane. We have to use jogging actions during our crane operation. But, we could try to use less jogging when operate the crane.

2173   Monday, December 21, 2020, 11:22 Adam NewsomeCraneStandard Operation  Crane Shutdown for Power Outage

The Target Hall Crane has been shut down in preparation for the power outage tomorrow (Dec 22). Power will be restored on Dec 23.

Dec 23 update: power has been restored. The crane appears to be in working condition as there is no fault indicator on the PLC.

1667   Tuesday, December 19, 2017, 10:40 Don JacksonCraneMaintenance  Crane Power during winter break

The power to the crane and controls were turned off using the power switch in the Crane Control room.  The main disconnect switch in the target hall was not touched.

All site power will be off for a period of time during the Christmas break and this removes the crane from any issues when power is restored.

  2272   Monday, November 22, 2021, 12:44 Adam NewsomeCraneRepair  Crane PLC Fault: 0004h

An issue was observed in which the target hall crane was not functioning: the N-E-S-W and up/down motions did not work, however the rotation motion did work. These symptoms were similar to what was observed in the past under https://elog.triumf.ca/TIS/RH-ISAC/2039 and https://elog.triumf.ca/TIS/RH-ISAC/1845

The crane control console was not powered (i.e. pressing the ON/OFF buttons when the selector switch was set to remote mode, even when safety conditions were met, did not enable/disable remote functionality). The power supplies were checked and everything appeared to be powered as would be expected, except for items which depended on the main contactor (O-K1) being energized. This contactor needs the PLC to be in an operational state, fault-free. The PLC was checked and the red fault light was flashing. The battery light was not on (i.e. battery was OK).

The program was re-downloaded to the PLC. During an attempt to go online with the PLC, error code 0004h appeared (see attached image for description). This is an unfamiliar error code - typically the aforementioned symptoms arise due to a battery failure and the program being lost. In this case it is uncertain at this time what the cause of this fault is. It will be monitored in the future to determine if it occurs again, and further investigation will be performed.

After re-downloading the program and placing the PLC in RUN mode, the crane was fully restored to its operating state - the main contactor was able to be energized once again. The crane was put into remote mode and a brief functionality test on the motion axes was performed: OK.

The conductivity of the cooling package is above 5Mohm which is the minimum limit for the PS. This was achieved at 11:55. See attached picture.

First thing I entered into the NHC to install to the target kart mounting clip, and remove excess tools and materials from the hotcell

After the TM3 without a target was lowered into the NHC.

Once inside, with the use of the manipulators, I was able to remove the containment box door, place it on the swivel arm, move the arm out of the way, after the door was return to the containment box and reattached.
