- Started voltage ramp up. Using 250 V increments.
Tuesday, February 04, 2025, 12:07
- Current has got a bit noisy, starting at around 56.5 kV.
- Currently at 57 kV. Voltage is stable though.
- Current is about 151 uA on average, with spikes up to 164 uA.
- Held at 57 kV for about 5 minutes, no drops in voltage, so continuing ramp.
- 57.25 kV
- There is noise in the current each time the voltage is increased. It seems to calm down slowly, with the later noise/spikes being less frequent and lower magnitude.
- Average current is about 151 uA. Spikes at the start were as high as 169 uA, and after about 8 minutes they are about 160 uA.
- Held here for about 10 minutes before continuing ramp.
- I will try to get to 58 kV, and then back down to 57 kV to see if the current calms down and there is some sort of conditioning effect. If there is, I'm not sure of the mechanism since nothing is in vacuum.
Tuesday, February 04, 2025, 12:51
- Dropping down to 57 kV, the current was about 150 uA and there were no more noise spikes. Seems like conditioning. Going back to 58 kV and continuing ramp.
Tuesday, February 04, 2025, 13:09
- At 60 kV. Average current is about 187 uA initially, which could just be the average of the noise. It looks like it's dropping a few minutes later. About 10 minutes later, the current is 184 uA. 181 uA after 20 minutes.
- It's been stable for about 30 minutes now. No voltage fluctuations, noise in the current has been the same or decreasing.
- Current is about 177 uA after 80 minutes.
Tuesday, February 04, 2025, 14:36
- It's been 1.5 hours and the voltage has been stable the whole time. All is good. Ramping down.

David Wang | ITW | Repair | | | ITW HALCW 2" return line ball valve seals replacement. |
Leaking seals on ITW HALCW 2" return line ball valve have been replaced. 8 liter waters are drained out for this job. Water are drained into a thick plastic bag. The bag is tie strapped , labeled, and put into a yellow garbage bin in MAA. Water sample is given to RPG. After analyzing, RPG will give instruction on how to deal with it. Since we just refilled NALCW to system before this job, the active level on sample is very low. We may dump them into active sump. After seals change, The system is refilled . I started pump and set everything back to normal configuration. NO leak has been found on new seals. The HALCW system is operating good so far. |

David Wang | ITW | Repair | | | ITW EXIT1 tank to module o-ring replacement |
ITW EXIT1 o-ring replacement is fininshed today. The ITW EXIT 1 is back to ITW. The old o-ring lost most its elastic property and changed to stiff sqaure shape inside the slot. The flange surface around the o-ring slot was dirty. I cleaned the o-ring surface completely before putting the new o-ring . Everything should be fine now. There will be a leak check late on this new installed o-ring.

David Wang | ITE | Standard Operation | TM4 | UO#3 | ITM4 in ITE connected and pumping down |
TM4 has been moved to ITE and connected there today. I started six turbo pumps this afternoon. One of TP4 back valve (one in pairs) didn’t open .It caused the TP4 difficult to start. I disconnected that control cable that plug to solenoid valve and reconnected it. Then it works fine. After this, TP4 started to normal speed easily. The vacuum readings are OK so far. Tomorrow morning they all should be around 6-7 X E-6 torr range. Water interlock checks related to TM4 have been finished. NO water supply to ITE dump and entrance to keep the system pressure over 90psi. All TM4 water signals are good and strong by watching them from electrical panel. Gas line connected and valves opened. Control page set to fibiad . |

David Wang | ITE/ITW | Maintenance | | | ITH:MP1 is replaced due to its poor performance. |
ITH:MP1 is replaced this morning due to its poor performance started yesterday afternoon. The general field in pit is about 260usv/hr. the contact field on pump is 2.0 msv/hr. New pump works good. Lubricant in pump will be drained next week. then motor will be removed. The pump body will be bagged and stored in silo area. |

David Wang | ITW | Repair | | | ITH:MP1 |
ITH:MP1 inlet pressure showed 10torr after power outage during holiday. All ITE/W turbo-pumps were tripped because of it. Removed one shielding block above the vacuum station. Visually checked oil level and condition in pump. oil level is high. oil color is dark. no oil leak . Installed a local convectron gauge on pump inlet. After pumping down, It shows pump is good. Tightened all KF 25 and 50 clamps on pump inlet side. Reconnected pump to system. Everything works fine so far. All ITW / E turbo pumps are started now. |

David Wang | ITW | Maintenance | | | ITH MP1 replacement |
ITH MP1 is replaced today with a new style pump. The new pump is 0.75 inch higher than old pump on inlet and exhaust so a new solid inlet adapter (KF50-25) has to been used. For future secondary pump ITH MP1S replacement, we need a new adapter 0.75 inches shorter as well. The new pumps is started . Everything works fine. Old pumps is drained , bagged, and stored in TH B2 level. All radioactive garbage produced during the job are bagged , tagged, and stored in TH as well. |

David Wang | ITW | Repair | | | ITH MP1 is replaced. |
Edi and I replaced the broken ITH MP1 in target hall with a new pump. The old pump was leak on oil. There were no oil had been left in the old pump by checking the sight glass.Thats the reason of the pump failure. The tray which the old pump sat on was full of leaking oil ( highly contaminated ). The old pump was bagged in 3 thick plastic bags ,and the tray was cleaned before the new pump was installed. The working area had been cleaned up and surveyed couple of times after the job. Everything is good. The new pump had been tested after the installation. It works fine. |

Carla Babcock | ITE | Repair | | | ITE:ANODE swapped with TCS:ANODE |
ITE:ANODE supply reading strange currents - 17mA with the power supply on and no voltage. Checked anode circuit from electrical room:
Anode wire in electrical room shows 0L at 250V
Circuit with 50kOhm resistor mostly looks good (49-52kOhms) but a couple times read 28kOhms, no idea why. Tried jiggling all cables, unplugging and replugging and everything looks fine.
But power supply still seems to be giving out signal for 17mA readback. Decided fastest to swap with TCS power supply and troubleshoot this one on the bench. |
