Monday, January 18, 2021, 12:29, David Wang, ITW, Standard Operation, TM2, Nb#9, ITW vacuum and TM2 water lines leak check .
|
ITW primary and secondary vacuum vessel leak check are done. There is a 5XE-8 atm.cc/sec leak on Exit service cap NW side square panel. The leak is small. And, it is close to ITW TP3 so it is not affect ion beam line vacuum during operation. We will replace the seal on the panel later. The rest leak check on air to vacuum seals are good. TM2 water lines are pressurized with 70 psi helium. We did it 3 hours after water lines are purged. No leak was showed during the check.
2021-02-24th: The o-ring on exit 1 NW side square panel is replaced by David Wang and Frank Song. |
Friday, January 22, 2021, 12:34, David Wang, ITE, Standard Operation, , , ITE HV test.
|
ITE annual HV test is done. No module in station. The bias power supply has been ramped up to 49KV on control page. We still have voltage limit issue on this PS at 48KV so it only can go to 47.7 KV on PS panel. No major spark during test.. The test result is same as last year test which was did in March 2020. |
Monday, January 25, 2021, 10:57, David Wang, South Hot-Cell, Repair, TM4, , TM4 steers short investigation.
|
Cables were disconnected for steers in containment box. The Megga measurement (500V) result from the top of the module:
Left to right: OL, left to top OL, left to bottom OL, right to top OL, right to bottom OL, Top to bottom OL. And all of them to ground are OL. No short on cables from module top to steers itself. The short should be inside the steers. It will be confirmed with directly test on steers. |
Monday, January 25, 2021, 12:33, David Wang, ITW, Standard Operation, , , ITW bias HV test
|
Ramp up ITW bias to 57KV. no spark. 200uA leaking current at 57KV. The test is done without target module in station. ITW water circuits are looped in pit. EE , EL are switched off during the test. |

Wednesday, February 10, 2021, 11:34, David Wang, Assembly/Bench Test, Standard Operation, , , Old resin can and 2A window RH clamp field measurement at silo.
|
Old resin can: 0.5 meter 360 degree rotation above silo area, 350u sv/hr. On contact 3.0 to 3.5 msv/hr. It was replaced during 2017 winter shut down, and stored in silo since then.
2a window RH clamp: 0.5 meter, 160 usv/hr. On contact, hottest spot 3.5msv/hr, general,1.8 msv/hr.
Both of them were raise out of storage silo with TH crane. Pole monitor was used for field check. |
Wednesday, February 10, 2021, 13:30, David Wang, Safe Module Parking, Standard Operation, , , TM2 and TM4 electrical check without targets.
|
TM2 at SMP under vacuum. TM4 at silo. Frank and I did the tests. Everything is fine on TM4 check. On TM2, all mega test at 500V are around 200K ohms which is so abnormal. We will move TM2 to TCS and start investigation there. |

Thursday, February 18, 2021, 12:59, David Wang, Assembly/Bench Test, Maintenance, , , TM3 source tray and old resin can storage in lower cyclotron basement
|
TM3 old source tray, old target hall high active water resin tank, and old 2A window RH clamp are transferred from TH to cyclotron lower vault basement 10 and 10A location for storage. They are placed beside and in front of old TM1 and TM2 source tray boxes which stored there in 2018. |
Tuesday, February 23, 2021, 09:00, David Wang, Assembly/Bench Test, Maintenance, , , target staion vacuum pumps inspection.
|
Edi and I inspected roughing pump ITM MP1, primary backup pump ITHMP1, and secondary backup pump ITHMP2. We checked oil level and color on all pumps. Refilled lubricant to ITMMP1. ITHMP1 and MP2 oil level is fine. ITH MP1 oil color is darker than MP2. But, both them are ok still. Shielding block has been restored after the job. |
Tuesday, March 02, 2021, 08:12, David Wang, Conditioning Station, Standard Operation, , , TCS leak check.
|
TCS leak check: TCS IG1S1.6 XE- 6 torr. LD 0.0XE-9atm.cc/sec.We used a long pole to spray helium to TCS vacuum seals on diagnostic box and vessel body. Lots helium have been sprayed around the check area. no leak has been found. |
Thursday, March 04, 2021, 11:20, David Wang, ITW, Maintenance, , , ITW water flow wheels and coils replacement.

Wednesday, April 21, 2021, 11:18, David Wang, Cooling, Maintenance, , , Refilling high active wtaer system and starting HA water pumps.
|
High active water system is refilled. Air are drained out of system before pump to be started. Following sequence are used to bring the whole system back to operation:
1. close ITE , open ITW. Switch on the pump. Only 2A beam line related 5 water circuits are in loop in ITW. Switch off pump when system pressure is stable above 100 psi.
2. Close ITW, open ITE. Switch on the pump. Only 2A beam line related 5 water circuits are in loop in ITE. Switch off pump when system pressure is stable above 100psi.
3. Open ITW, Open ITE. Switch on pump. both ITW and ITE beam line related water circuits are in loop. Switch off pump when system pressure is stable above 100psi.
4. Close ITE open ITW. Bring ITW target module water circuits back to loop by connecting bypass fittings on to circuits. Only bring one circuit back to system at first. Switch on pump. Wait for system pressure stabilized. Then Close ITW. bring next circuit back to system. Open ITW . wait for pressure stabilized. repeat the process until all water circuit and connected with bypass fittings in ITW.
5. Check possible leak on valves, fittings, and flow sensors in ITW pit.
6. Go to electrical room, check all ITW water signal status.
7. Close ITW, Open ITE. Repeat same procedure as step 4 on ITE target module water circuits.
8. Check possible leak on valves, fittings and flow sensors in ITE pit.
9. Go to electrical room, check all ITE water signal status.
10. Open ITW. At this stage, full ITE station and half of ITW station water circuits are in operation. Check possible leak on pumps, valves, fittings, gauges on water station at TH west end.
11. Keep system in operation. Watch on - tank level , system pressure, and conductivity on resin circuit and whole system. |
