Anders Mjos | Conditioning Station | Maintenance | | | TCS:Chil staging not operational |
NOTE: If cooling is required, the compressors will have to be run manually. Make sure to switch it off again when the water has reached an acceptable temperature.
The staging did not work properly this morning. Dave Morris have been contacted and will look into it. |

Anders Mjos | Conditioning Station | Maintenance | | | Chiller unit |
NOTE: If there is a problem with the chiller unit (ie Fault 1 or Fault 2), a power cycle may reset the VFDs for the fans and clear the problem. To do so it is necessary to wait long enough for the VFDs to power off completely. The display will first start to flash before going dark. Wait another few seconds before powering the system back up. The chiller unit is located on the ISAC I Penthouse Roof.
A service tech from Daikine was on site today and has cleaned the chiller unit. In the process he also cycled the power which returned the operation back to normal. The tech provided us with manuals for the VFDs. These can be consulted on DocuSharefor looking up error codes.
Fault 1 refers to unit 1 and Fault 2 to unit 2. |

Wednesday, October 14, 2014
The BIAS voltage was brought up between 1:30pm and 5pm. Sparks tripped the BIAS power supply at voltages between 20 - 24 kV. Multiple attempts were made. The current was about 50-60 uA.

Temperature in the cooling circuit is too hight to do a HV test. The cooling circuit was started, but shuts off after ~10 m
Thursday, October 16, 2014
David and I found that the fans on the cooling unit on the roof did not run and that the compressors get hot and likely trip on over temperature protection (hot to the touch). We found the manual in the control panel of the unit.
10am: HV to 20kV before a spark tripped the PS. Current at 40 uA - resistivity at 11.9 Mohm
5pm: HV to 20kV before fluctuations in current, then a spark tripped the PS. Current around 40 uA. Resistivity 12.6 Mohm

8am: Staging did not start over night. TS5 temp is 31 deg C, which would have tripped power supplies. Reset and enabled staging.
The system increased staging until all 3 compressors were running.
9am: Cooling supply temperature reached ~3 deg C. Disabled staging and switched off all pumps
2pm: Switched off water circulation for the weekend.

David Wang | ITE | Standard Operation | TM4 | Ta#44 | Reconnected TM4 in ITE. |
TM4 has been reconnected back to ITE. I started all turbo pumps on ITE and TM4. The ITE TP4s was extremely difficult to start. This pump is new, and was replaced before the last ITE beam time on July. After several times try and starting mode switch, it is started. Its temperature and current draw showed on controller and very good after the start. The current draw on ITE TP1s is s a little bit high and unstable. I will keep watching on ITE TP1s. I think the ITE TP1s is close to the end of the pump life. Other pumps are good so far. |

David Wang | South Hot-Cell | Standard Operation | TM4 | Ta#44 | Leak check on TM4 HS water line with new Ta#44 target. at SHC |
This morning Chad and I leak checked TM4 HS line with new Ta#44 target installed. I calibrated LD before the check. Before check, the LD base LR 0.0xE-9 atm.cc/sec, base LP 0.0xE-4 torr. Chad sprayed helium on both VCR fittings and did a flush around the target. There is no any response had been found on LD,. The line is good on leak tight. with spray method. No helium pressure test on the HS line at CS since TM4 was moved back to ITE directly. |
