In the past few days, the ITS has been reconfigured for P2N operation:
- The two ATTS PS were moved to the ITS rack, one on top of the TGHT and the other instead of the COIL
- AC rewiring was necessary since the breakers were not connected to the wires. Marshall was on it and re-connected
- Ray has configured the ATTS PLC to be compatible with P2N operation in ITS
- The controls cables to the MASTER and SLAVE supplies have been configured: the cables come from the front of the PS rack, so we could close the back and top cage if we wanted. One control cable was connected to the relay to send the proper ENABLE signal only when the ITS vacuum and water flow are OK
- DC cables re-routed for P2N parallel operation:
MASTER+ = D
MASTER- = C
SLAVE+ = E,G
SLAVE- = F,H
TBHT+ = A
TBHT- = B

Disassemble, inspect.
Move bearing along screw. Acetone to break down old grease. Wiped clean. Move bearing back and forth, use pick to remove dirt. Re-grease.
Clean, and reassemble.
Test emittance scanner (outside of vacuum) . Draw in OK. Draw out OK.

Dave Morris increased the current from ~ 1 A to ~2.5 A. This seem to solve the problem with the in/out drive of the emittance meter |

It was noted yesterday during the TM2 Source HV tests that the E-rig was not running accordingly through the beam.
Upon turning on the PS, there a 45 second or so delay before the needle drops to the right at +500V and the PS no longer responds. (similar issue in August 2016)

- 2x spacers ITD0468 1/8" THK installed to shift the wire scanner screen closer to the wire scanner. (ITD0469 1/16" THK spacers not used).
- Emittance Rig installed. Manually actuated from out -> in -> out position. No interference observed.
- Replaced two insulators on wire scanner screens that broke in the installation process. New insulators kindly donated from ISIS.

Testing the HV bias I found that the einzel lens was behaving strangely. When I tried to put it higher than 1kV, the current would start spiking from 12uA to > 100uA. The voltage would jump around quite a bit as well (+/- 100V). Everything seems the way it was before, except the EZL power supply is still connected in parallel with the old bias power supply, which is no longer powered. Maybe one of the transorbs connecting line and neutral on the bias side is fried? I will unhook the connection to the old PSU and try again.

BIAS PS issues.
2.3kV on screen. Read back on PS 3kV. Direct measurement reads 5.8 kV
Readback does not increase with the controls. Stops at 2.4kV & the current climbs very quickly.
Tuesday, March 26, 2019, 11:00: EZL PS routed to TS BIAS, but still controlled via EZL controls. EZL line grounded.
Brought up to 20kV, no sparks.
New EZL PS confirmed ok. BIAS PS has issues. |
