chad fisher | South Hot-Cell | Repair | | | Compressible waste sorting. | Residual fields from the remaining compressible waste were still too high (as far as I'm concerned) so I have unpacked all compressible waste looking for a "hot" item that has snuck into these items.
I have a hand full of small bolts (possible target components), a hand full of target material/dust (including an entire target disc), and some cloths that had clearly been used to wipe the table (they are black with target dust).
These items will be disposed of with the next spent target. |

Aurelia Laxdal | Conditioning Station | Development | TM4 | FEBIAD HP with Dummy Target | Commissioning TCS - Part 2 Completed | After few hickups the TCS was successfuly commissioned.
In the morning, in the middle of the heaters conditioning: 360A/250A for the TGHT/TBHT, the target heater PS tripped and it didn't recover immediately. I cannot tell if the card is still OK. Before this even, there were few bias current sparks created when the ionized tube was raised above 250A; this also tripped the Einzel lens. Re-started the Heaters, and did the conditioning with the rest (HV, Optics) Off. After the heaters were at nominal values, raised the rest: HV to 30kV and the Optics. And everything held fine. The current on the FC was 3micro-Amperes. The water temperature levels stayed below 25 deg Celsius.
The problems that need to be fixed:
1. The biggest problem was created by the target power supply: the new card is not calibrated, the voltage is not regulating, but the main problem is the grounding of the output of power supply. Friedhelm measured 0.2V across the return and the cage (200mili-ohms resistance) . This was probably overlooked.
2. The Auto-ramping routine didn't work. Controls would need to fix this.
3. The RGA didn't want to connect from the account Don created for me. So, we have only a RGA scan taken on Friday by Don, when the target was cold.

Response to item 1.
This morning I investigated the output of the TGHT power supply. The negative output of the power supply is tied to common as per ISK4574D Rev 7 (attached) and the released drawing IRH1511 Rev A (PDF attached but officially located in the SW vault). If this is not the intent of the IRH1511 should be released to Rev C reflecting the desired configuration.
In regards to the calibration of the card I will inform the PS group. |

The heat shield circuit was also tested for flow and it passed. |

Jason Zhang | Crane | Development | | | Cleanup of camera installation on target hall crane, installation of replacement laser | The cleanup of the ISAC Target Hall crane and installation of the new SICK laser which replaced the IBEO laser for the EW crane position was completed on Aug 03 2023.
The clean up tasks which were completed: (Removal of tape viewing camera, Removal of tape, Installation of extension cord, Consolidation of power supplies for the lasers and removal of old laser)
Currently power bar is still present to act as an extension cable. This will be removed when 2m extension cord is made and put in next target exchange cycle.
The installation and testing of new SICK Laser:
1. Calibration points were taken at the 4 corner limits of the crane. North South and East West positions were recorded.
2. Crane was parked at the ladder access position and mounting bracket was machined and installed.
3. A new cable was made and installed for the SICK laser. Continuity test was performed from the control room and crane to ensure pinout of the laser worked with existing serial communication setup in the control room PC.
4. The feedback values from the new SICK laser and old IBEO laser were compared to determine that a calibration offset of 0.06m was needed in the Laser Position Feedback program.
5. Laser Position Feedback program was re-compiled to communicate with 2x SICK lasers with the calibration offset value included in the EW feedback position. (Laser Crane PositionDlg.cpp)
6. Calibration points were taken at the 4 corner limits of the crane again with the new Laser. North South and East West positions were recorded.

There was less than 0.1% variance between the new laser and old laser which is well within the tolerance of the lasers themselves. It can be determined that it was properly calibrated.

Anders Mjos | Conditioning Station | Maintenance | | | Chiller unit | NOTE: If there is a problem with the chiller unit (ie Fault 1 or Fault 2), a power cycle may reset the VFDs for the fans and clear the problem. To do so it is necessary to wait long enough for the VFDs to power off completely. The display will first start to flash before going dark. Wait another few seconds before powering the system back up. The chiller unit is located on the ISAC I Penthouse Roof.
A service tech from Daikine was on site today and has cleaned the chiller unit. In the process he also cycled the power which returned the operation back to normal. The tech provided us with manuals for the VFDs. These can be consulted on DocuSharefor looking up error codes.
Fault 1 refers to unit 1 and Fault 2 to unit 2. |
