ISAC Storage Vault Door Re-alignment (April-May 2024)

Issue

  • Rollers gouging and marking on roller supports, testing shows door shifts at least 185 thou on structural beam when fully open vs. fully closed
  • door misaligned: 1/4" laterally, slight rotation (~1/16" difference across closed door gap).

Repair

  • Moved left structural beam (facing front of door) inward 1/4" at post.
  • Loosened drive system to shift door over via crane to average laterally (1/8" shift) towards center,
  • Attempted to fix door rotation with crane, door would not settle down perfectly flush, but got slight improvement
  • Adjusted limit switches for fully open and closed (due to the adjustments made previously, needed to realign limit switches) - adjusted flag for final close back by ~1/4"; adjusted limit switch at back of vault forward ~1/4"

Verification

  • Unloaded vault door actuation tested multiple times with no issues, door returned to same position every cycle, no interferences during travel
  • Vault Door actuation tested with trays 4 and 6 engaged, no issues
  • All pails accessible when open
  • Tested open and closed limit switches: the open limit switches are working properly; the closing soft and hard limit switches are slightly close together, causing the door to just "bump" the vault when closing, The scale of this is OK for current operation, will be adjusted when the ISAC Target Hall Controls Overhaul is done
  • Tested and reset Emergency override mechanism - works properly

Outstanding Tasks

  • Will paint marks on structural supports to track if problem reoccurs - update ELog when complete

System State: Operational

The ISAC active sump in the Active Service Room (#002 on B2 level) was pumped out yesterday using the standard procedure (Section 5.5.2 of the ISAC Operators' Manual, V1.0).  The procedure makes use of the auto stop feature of the pump-out system which stops when a low level float switch is triggered.  The water level was measured after pumping stopped, and was found to be approximately 21" above the base of the sump.  A new section of pipe will be added to the 4" drain line in the sump to move the drain opening below the low level water line so that air in the sump is not pulled into the drain network (which could end up in the NHC or TCS space).

Hi Remote Handling,

The guage on the IMC circuit in the Target Hall is reading atmosphere, and the bellows is currently relaxed (i.e. expanded), whereas it should be reading about -20inHg and the bellows should be contracted (i.e. compressed).

I've attached a photo of what the guage and fittings should look like when pumped down to -30inHg.

Either the IMC circuit has been vented, disturbed, or it has some kind of leak.  When I was in the Target Hall this morning, I saw the gauge bent around the railing at an awkward angle with a pretty severe bend in the copper line, it appeared to have been disturbed by the temporary glove box sitting at that level used by Rob Walker for nuclear ventilation work.

I will co-ordinate pump-down and leak check of the circuit, but the Conditioning Station cannot be used until this is repaired.

Cheers,

Grant

Entry  Monday, June 17, 2024, 07:36, David Wang, ITE, Repair, , , IG1S elbow oring seal and a blabk off cap oring seal beside the elbow were replaced on ITE entrance module top..

IG1S elbow o ring seal and a blank off cap o-ring seal beside the elbow were replaced on ITE entrance module top last Friday. IG1s has a higher than normal reading so i leak checked entrance module top last Thursday and found leaks to 5x E-8 atm.cc/sec leak on one of (or both of )these two o-rings seals. they are too close to identify exactly on which one was leaking so both o rings were replaced.  other air to vacuum seal on entrance module are leak free.

Entry  Thursday, January 02, 2020, 09:55, David Wang, Cooling, Standard Operation, , , I turned on HALC water pump MP2.

HALCW MP2 is switched onnow. There is a small amount of air trapped in system. The pump works fine.  Water level and system resistivity will be monitored for a while.

LALCW P5 and P6 are switched on  for cooling HALCW.  HALCW MP2 is in operation now.

Entry  Friday, May 20, 2016, 08:13, David Wang, Conditioning Station, Standard Operation, TM2, Ta#48, I switched off TCS and TM2 water system

Disconnected  TM2 at TCS(vacuum system still on). Purged all TM2 water lines for helium pressure test.

Entry  Friday, April 29, 2016, 10:06, David Wang, Conditioning Station, Standard Operation, TM2, , I switched off TCS and TM2 vacuum pumps.

I switched off TCS and TM2 vacuum pumps. The TM2 will be disconnected at TCS today and moved to silo on next Monday.

Entry  Monday, April 11, 2016, 13:44, David Wang, Conditioning Station, Standard Operation, TM4, , I stopped TCS and TM4 vacuum pumps.

The TM4 is still under vacuum at TCS. It will be vented tomorrow morning.

I disconnected TM4 vacuum system at TCS.

Entry  Tuesday, April 05, 2016, 12:40, David Wang, ITE, Standard Operation, TM4, , I stopped ITE turbo pumps this morning

The ITE and TM4 have been vented with Argon . TM4 vacuum system is disconnected in ITE.

Entry  Tuesday, February 18, 2014, 11:26, David Wang, Conditioning Station, Repair, TM2, , I stopped turbo pumps and disconnected vacuum system on TM 2 and CS

I stopped turbo pumps and disconnected vacuum system on TM2 and CS. The TM2 will be moved to SHC for C seal installation on "D" water block.

Entry  Thursday, November 13, 2014, 14:01, David Wang, ITW, Repair, TM1, , I replaced flow wheel and coil on ITW MSP water flow sensor.

I replaced flow wheel and coil on ITW MSP water flow sensor which is located in ITW pit. Before replacement, I checked the signal strength and frequency form e-board on this circuit. The signal was good in 10minutes watching. Still, I replaced them. The flow sensor works fine after replacement. I made a comment  on Isac e-fault system about this issue.

Entry  Monday, May 09, 2016, 08:43, David Wang, Conditioning Station, Repair, TM3, , I reinstalled all the side panel on TM3 service cap.

They were moved for TM3 inspection job last week. All the bolts on the panel are hand tight only now since they will be removed out for camera installation during next stage inspection.
