The silicon carbide targets voltage was raised to 42 kV today before continuous current draw was observed. It took roughly 10 minutes to raise the module to this voltage with only the occasional spark. The ION gauge reading was 2.0 x 10^-6 T, The service cap IMG 3.6 x 10^-6 T, and the secondary vacuum was 4.5 x 10^-6 T. Setup check and conditioning was performed by Pierre.

TM1 was high voltage tested without a target on November 16, 2011 with Don Jackson, Pierre Bricault, and Bevan Moss. The module was able to hold up to 25 kV but between that and 32 kV there was lots of discharge which could be measured in the vacuum. See the attached plot for the voltage current and sparks.

The high active water resistivity took a long time to recover after the upgrade to the water cooling circuit. The system needed about a month (from end February to end March) to recover to nominal values. See attached plot of archiver data.

TM1 has now been connected in ITW and the water resistivity remains > 8 MOhm cm, which should allow normal operation. However, the resin is suspected to be approaching end of life. Work is ongoing to get a new replacement resin tank.

Entry  Thursday, August 25, 2016, 08:36, David Wang, Conditioning Station, Standard Operation, TM2, , Helium pressure test on TM2 HS water lline

I did a helium pressure test on TM2 HS water line at TCS. Leak detector base leak rate only could get to 1.8x e-8 atm.cc/sec at this moment. Applied 5 minutes 70psi helium on it. No leak has been found at this level. I connected water to this circuit after the test for weekend TM2 conditioning at TCS.

I will do another helium pressure test after the conditioning. The LD base leak rate should be 0.0Xe-9 atm.cc/sec at that time.

2016-08-29: LD Base leak rate 0.0xe-9atm.cc/sec.TM2 HS line helium pressure check again after conditioning. 70psi helium 5minutes. no response on LD. HS line is perfectly sealed.

These two lines are passed helium pressure test this morning. The LD base leak rate 0.0 X E-9 atm.cc/sec. The base pressure 0.0 X E-4 torr. Helium pressure 70 psi. applied helium to both line for 5minutes each. No response on LD during the test.

I did helium pressure test on TM2 containment box window and HS line at TCS. @ 70psi helium  for 3 minutes, HS:2.2XE-7 atm.cc/sec., Window:1.2XE-7 atm.cc/sec. There is no change on HS. But LR on window is bigger than before that was in E -9atm.cc/sec range.

There is a smallleak HS which we did not see before. The HS is checked in SHC  with helium spray yesterday. We did not see the leak . We checked this HS line every time when new target was installed. So mostly, this small leak is from VCRs connected to new target. But, we can not confirm it.  Still this line will be checked on next new target. We should have a better understanding when checking next time.  Other line are almost same as we checked in last year November. I did not see essential change.

The helium pressure test on HS line is done at TCS this morning. I got the same result as last time when we helium pressure it it with first target in April. The leak  rate on this line is 1.8 XE-7atm.cc/sec. So, we know this leak is mostly on the line, but not on the VCR joints connecting the target.  See attachment for last time(April) checking e-log. The leak could be from water block which is same as other lines. I do not think this leak rate will affect the operation.

The attachment can not be opened for some reasons. Please check TM2 leak check  2017-03-13 e- log for last time test result and comment.

All number are getting better comparing to last time check. All ITW vacuum readings are very good. ITW PNG4 was in low E-7 torr range also. At present, it is in low E-6 range due to ITW TP4 switching off.  The TM2  water line seals  are stable and reliable for 2017 beam run. The same check will be repeated  in 2017 mini shut down.
