David Wang | ITW | Standard Operation | | | ITW entrance module and exit 1 module leak check after module move and tank flange orings replacement. |
ITW entrance module and exit 1 module leak check on module service cap/top air to vacuum seals and module to tank flange o-rings have been done. all seals and o rings are leak free to 0.0 xE-9atm.cc/sec except one leak ( to low E-6 atm.cc/sec) on ITW RV4 KF50 o-ring was found. It caused by a cross o ring surface scratch on KF 50 flange. the scratch was sanded and polished out. on second time leak check, it is leak free. |

David Wang | ITW | Maintenance | | | ITW clean up |
ITW has been cleaned up today. All station are vacuum cleaned. I wiped all HV cover and HV area including conductors and insulators. The black foams which are used to wrap around TP back up line are degrading now. I removed most of these foams. Also, Some obsolete water lines are moved our of station. All waste are bagged . they will be surveyed and stored(or disposed) according to radio-active level. |

ITW gas lines pumped down to 2e-3Torr on leak detector with leak rate in the low e-7 atm-cc/s. Gas bottles opened at 3psi and labels in epics changed to reflect correct setup. switch box set to cathode mode, checked that anode wire was at HV common.
note ballast is removed from ITW now to be used in ITE so that line is blanked off. |

Keith C Ng | ITW | Repair | | | ITW beam tube repair job |
2A2 window has been removed from ITW and beamlines has removed the beamtube from the penetration. The penetration has been sealed with plastic sheeting and duct tape to maintain the ventilation depression between the 2A tunnel and the Target Pit.
Window is currently stored in a lead flask in the target hall. Window fields are 26 mSv/h OC, 1.2 mSv/h at .5m. There is a 10 uSv/h field outside the flask with the window inside it.
Clamp is currently sitting bagged in ITW Station Pit, it is quite corroded.
Tank flange was video inspected but still needs to be cleaned, currently there is a slip on dust cover over the flange to protect it.
Work will resume after the nuclear ventilation comissioning is completed.

Keith C Ng | ITW | Repair | | | ITW beam tube repair |
Vacuumed out remainder of debris from the wall penetration, removed cradle and checked condition. Down stream support bracket sees advanced stages of material loss (OBO 20-30% loss). See attached photos.
RPG reports that the removed beam tube has 15k CPM on the interior of the beam tube.
Tank flange was cleaned as per 2009 repair report, looks OK. Video capture of flange inspection attached as .zip file.
.03" shim was inserted into the clamp indexing block.

David Wang | ITW | Repair | TM4 | | ITW bad vacuum issue and trouble shoot. |
ITW secondary vacuum was bad in last two days after TM4 was connected in ITW. Today when check the exit 2 module, I found a small needle valve on exit 2 module top was slightly opened for some reason in past months. The valve is closed . ITW vacuum is returned to normal status. |

Carla Babcock | ITW | Maintenance | | | ITW annual HV testing |
ITW was set up for HV testing - water is running and at a high resistivity due to injected N. Einzel lens is attached to ground. Everything else is as normal. The module plug is in so no vacuum bypasses were needed. Very easy to ramp to 60kV. Sat at 60 for about 1.5hrs with maybe 1 spark (hard to say from the strip tool data). Current draw was about 176uA. Data dumped as isac/data/ITW_HVtesting_shutdown2024 |

David Wang | ITW | Maintenance | TM1 | | ITW and TM1 winter shut down vacuum leak check |
ITW and TM1 winter shut down vacuum leak check had been finished yesterday. All ITW primary vacuum vessel, secondary vacuum vessel, and TM1water lines had been leak checked. No any leak has been found .The ITW and TM1 are both leak tight. Some detail information below:
TM1 and ITW primary vacuum vessel and water lines: The leak detector was hooked on BV2 after TP2. Calibrate leak detector.leak detector BL 0.0xe-9atm.cc/sec,BP0.0xe-4 torr.
Sprayed helium to all primary vacuum vessel seals, flanges, turbo pumps, gauges, blank offs, bellows, and insulation blocks on TM1 and ITW. No any response had been found on leak detector. Also applied 60 psi helium to all water lines in TM1 for 5minutes each,no any response on leak detector. The leak rate stayed at 0.0xe-9 to 0.3 xe-9 atm.cc/sec all the time. All waterlines in TM1 are leak tight.
ITW secondary vacuum vessel:the leak detector was hooked on BV4s after TP4.Leak detector BL 0.0xe-9 atm.cc/sec ,BP 0.00xe-4 torr. Sprayed helium to all secondary vacuum seals which include all bellows, tank to tank flange seals, tank flange to modules seals, beam diagnostics, gauges, turbo pumps, and EXIT 2 top service cap seals. No any response had been found on leak detector during the check. The secondary vacuum vessel is leak tight on ITW.
All high vacuum gauges were read at 2-3xe -7 torr range during the test time and no change during the test. |

o 2A2COL-TC2 - does not work inside module
o 2A2COL-TC3 - does not work inside module
· ITE - 2A3
o 2A3COL-TC3 - works, but plug needs repair in ITE pit
Anders and I checked ITW and ITE thermocouple status. See result above. Frank and I will fix the 2A3COL-TC3 loose cable to plug issue.

ITW is argon venting now.
Argon venting of ITW is done. It took about 4.0 to 4.5 hours to vent the ITW with 2-3 psi argon. The CG4 and CG4S showed 35 to 36 torr on epic page when mechanical gauge is 760torr in electrical. Argon gas bottle is closed in electrical room. |

David Wang | ITW | Standard Operation | | | ITW HV test without mdoule. |
Carla did the test. and reported the result as following: HV testing of ITW is complete. It was pretty well behaved up to 59.5kV, and sat at 59kV for 30mins with no sparks (that EPICS caught). There was some strange behaviour of the current between 51kV and 53kV - it was jumping by 20uA or more - but there didn't seem to be any voltage response, and it went away after 53kV (though it returned on the way back down). The test was done in Feb 02. |
