Theses endcaps (4) were previously sinterred in Evap#2 but some surfaces were not fully sinterred. (See Evaporator2 E-log ID119: https://elog.triumf.ca/TIS/Evaporator_2/119)

The endcaps are inserted in a target boat wrapped with 3 heat-shields.

Chamber is currently being pumped down.

TGHT will be rampped up to 580A and heat for >4hrs.

IGP1 = 9.2e-7 Torr.

TGHT was stepped up to 35A and stabilized after half an hour.

Auto-ramp initiated at 2.0A/min, max setpoint = 580A.

Vacuum started to climb too fast, auto-ramp aborted.

Will step up manually...

 Wednesday, March 05, 2014, 12:18

Slowly stepped up to 100A manually.

Vacuum stable.

Initiating auto-ramp at 1.0A/min

 Wednesday, March 05, 2014, 13:17

IGP1 = 9.8e-6 Torr.

Current = 200A

Vacuum stable.

Stepping ramping rate up to 2.0A/min.

 Wednesday, March 05, 2014, 16:12

IGP1 = 4.6e-5 Torr, TGHT = 548A

Stopped auto-ramp to allow vacuum to settle back down.

Waited ~10min

IGP1 = 3.6e-5 Torr

Re-initiating auto-ramp at 2.0/min

Entry  Monday, September 12, 2016, 17:41, John Wong, , , TARGET BOAT, In progress, RUSH. Sintering end-caps

Monday, September 12, 2016, 17:30

A bunch of end caps (12?) and a long Ta-wire in spring sharp  were coated with TaC coating and wrapped in a small sheet of graphite foil.

Container is then wrapped with a sheet of Ta heat shield.

These caps and wires will be sintered in Evap 1, so they may be prompted to contamination from the uranium processes.

I have no choice but to use Evap1 to do this work since we are falling behind with the schedule.

In the future, please have all the materials (targets, end caps, binder, etc) well prepared.

I do not know what is the required current to sinter the caps since there is no temp measurement.  So, the best is to go with how the container was sintered, 580A.

Monday, September 12, 2016, 17:36

Chamber has been pumped down to mid 10-6 Torr.

Auto ramp to 580A at 2A/min.

vented in air and removed from evap1

managed to remove carefully using napkins and not touching boat directly with gloves as to avoid contamination.

endcaps and springs look good, fully sintered

one endcap looks like coating has started to peel off, possibly due to too thick of a TaC coating pre-sintering. see photos attached.

 Wednesday, May 24, 2017, 09:31

Last week the vacuum trip off point was changed to 8e-4 Torr when previously it was set to 8e-5 Torr.

Vacuum limits were set to stop at 5e-5 Torr and back-off at 6e-5 Torr

Now vacuum limits will be changed by an order of magnitude in an attempt to speed up the processes in the evaporator.

NOTE: hot lab reached 27degrees every day this week and went up to 28C today!

This is with the small portable fan running.

27C was reached even with both evaporators off.

When at 28C: evap2 = ~1500C and evap1 = 35A

 Thursday, July 20, 2017, 15:58

Hot lab reached 30C today.

Small fan off - unsure if able to run due to contamination spread...

Both evap1 and evap2 were under vacuum but had not initiated ramping up yet.

There was a broken valve motor affecting all ISAC rooms - temporary fix in place.

Ventilation in ISAC hot lab has been increased.

Temperature back to a reasonable level - currently sitting at 22C!

The roughing pump was disconnected from Evaporator 1, along with the exhaust/ventilation. No contamination was found on swipes.

The oil was refilled.

The roughing pump was then moved away from the PLC to allow access for Dave Morris. The RP can be reconnected and tested after the PLC work is complete.

-A new ion gauge was installed yesterday afternoon and the old one removed. The old IG was found to be contaminated (300 cpm) and as of 20/09/2017, it is double bagged and stashed underneath the evaporator for the time being.

Completed under work permit: I2017-09-19-9

-The roughing pump was reconnected this morning without issue.
