184   Monday, August 27, 2012, 15:21 Aurelia Laxdal      In progressXantrex PS 10-600 for TSH:TGHT is not working

When turned ON it was not going higher than 3.6A (EPICS/front panel). Kazuya checked the connections at the back and also the EPICS/PLC/PS input/output signals. He compared these values with the similar once of the TSH:TBHT PS (which is also a Xantrex PS 10-600). E-Fault 6275

It turned out to be the connections on the top of the ion source box: the target heater was not connected and the power supply was not seeing the load. Tomorrow we'll check all the top connections, with the corresponding power supplies.

Did HV conditioning up to TSG:BIAS=30kV, TSH=EE=-600V

Turned off the HV for Kazuya to check the connection/output of the TSG:TGHT Xantrex power supply.

181   Thursday, August 23, 2012, 11:59 Anders Mjos      Problems/SolutionsRoughing blows the fuse for both roughing pumps.

The fuse for both roughing pumps blows when roughing the chamber. With the help from Edi: disconnect the exhaust port on the roughing pump for the first few hundred torrs of roughing. Reconnect and continue.

Seems the roughing pump RP1  pushes air towards the exhaust of RP2 which blows the fuse

176   Friday, August 17, 2012, 10:09 Pierre Bricault      In progressFEBIAD test cathode bias

Backing pressure on the bender section is quite large. TMSIG6 reads 5.09E-7 T and TMS:CG2B reads 0.249 T!

175   Friday, August 17, 2012, 08:30 Pierre Bricault      In progressFEBIAD test with cathode biased

Yesterday Ray Dube has changed the configuration in order to run the FEBIAD with the cathode on negative bias.

There were a short between the gas line and the common. The box has been opened and the short removed.

This morning I am turning on the cathode heater to 290 A.

As per Ray Dube for the FEBIAD anode bias test. The PS will need to be reconnected before a target is run.

172   Thursday, August 16, 2012, 16:54 Anders Mjos      Problems/SolutionsShort between gas line and heat shield

There was a short between the gas line and the heat shield - as the gas line insulator was not tied to the heat shield. A Ta-wire was used to tie the gas line and keep it from touching the heat shield.

170   Thursday, August 16, 2012, 10:41 Pierre Bricault      In progressTest FEBIAD

Ray is finishing the electrical modifications for the FEBIAD with the biased cathode.

We found the source of the sparks. The disconnected target heater cables were resting on the Einzel lens cap.

169   Monday, August 13, 2012, 14:56 Pierre Bricault      In progressFEBIAD test

One thing that seems to be strange regarding this FEBIAD is the best results are without any current in the coil.

Normally for the neon ionization the on-line source wanted to be at around 50 to 80 Amp. Not this one.

Is there anything special about this coil?

168   Monday, August 13, 2012, 14:26 Pierre Bricault      In progressFEBIAD test

I am done with the FEBIAD test (anode biased)

We will swap the bias now to the cathode and change the polarity to negative.

  167   Monday, August 13, 2012, 10:59 Pierre Bricault      Problems/SolutionsTest FEBIAD

This morning I try to contact PS group no one answer. Dan Louie is in vacation.

I went into the can diagnostics panel and reconfigure MB1 power supply.

This worked.

Archivers not running this morning. Started both ISACT and SOURCES

165   Sunday, August 12, 2012, 22:07 Pierre Bricault      In progressFBIAD test

The reset restored the control.

But magnet supply does not put any amperage out.

Try turning it off and on. No chance.

I gave up. See tomorrow.
