Did another mass scan today at 5:40. Saved as: plotdump-local-clean.txt Sept 20 11 11-51-20.txt

Started target cool-down. Tomorrow the target would be ready to be removed from the Test Stand.

Wednesday, September 21, 2011:

Turned off the HV & optics.

Target is ready to be removed. Currently, it's under vacuum and the water is still on.

Tuesday, December 12, 2023, 16:07  - Pumping down test stand overnight for testing tomorrow. vacuum good, turbos starting now. Four thermocouples attached inside. tc1: high on (+) TGHT leg, pins 1+2. tc2: at target terminal (+), pins 4+5. tc3: at target terminal (-), pins 6+7. tc4: low on (+) TGHT leg, pins 8+9.

Wednesday, December 13, 2023, 09:32 : Vacuum at 8.2e-7 T.  Electrical team is finishing connecting the cables. Claim it will be complete at 11am.

Wednesday, December 13, 2023, 11:41Started both tc loggers at 11:40 - important for offset time. Beginning ramp as well on ATTS TGHT. set vacuum values high at 1e3 1e4 to bypass ATTS interlock, which does not apply here. ramping to 600A with step increment 10A and wait interval 10s.

ATTS TGHT claims ramping in progress, but increased voltage is reported only on the autoramp window, which reports increasing the target amperage by 10A each 10s. However, no increased voltage reading is reported there, nor is there any increased current. ATTS:TGHT:RDCUR and ATTS:TGHT:RDVOL are ~0 as well. No increased temperature on any of 6 tc channels.

Wednesday, December 13, 2023, 11:57 ATTS TGHT power supplies appear to be under local control. It also appears (low current right now) that the value reported in EPICS is 1/3 of the value reported on the master power supply. It may be that the epics value is per output of the individual 3 supplies, while the total output is reported on the PS display. Planning to now increase to 300A and reach steady state.

Wednesday, December 13, 2023, 12:13 : 1/3 ratio idea confirmed at 33A EPICS reading / 100A master reading and again at 100A EPICS reading / 300A master reading. 300A now reached. Waiting for 20min. Temps inside ~ 21°C. Temps on feed through terminals ~22°C

The system was vented to  make clearance on the waterlines as a very small continuous discharge was observed.

The inspection revealed some marks on the HS water line (sideview photo). From the the bottom and from real close (zoom and backview photo) the marks are quite noticeable with shinny copper in the middle and dark circles around.

The GND line is routed in such a way that sits on top of the ion gauge chamber (gnd-ig1) this could explain why the vacuum had small oscillation during the current limited events.

Moreover, the GND line has the steerer cables tied to it, this could explain why one of the steerers got affected after the sparks.

Also, the GND line is in contact with a dark grime that goes all the way into the first skimmer (gnd-quad). I think the grime observed inside the test stand might have become conductive, or if this is trace from a previous flashover, this  is good path to flash again.

The EE and the plasma electrode were removed and they show signs of buildup. Cleaned and reinstalled

Thursday, October 10, 2024, 11:07    TGHT TBHT at 120/120A  .   increasing TGHT TBHT to 580/230 at 1A/10s

Thursday, October 10, 2024, 12:29   during the current increase, when TBHT was at 230 and TGHT reached ~460, the TBHT current began decreasing. Upon inspection, the TBHT voltage is higher than normal and hitting its limit. It may be that there is another current path. that is, it may be shorted.

as TGHT increases, TBHT voltage continues to increase.   TGHT voltage is similarly higher than usual, at 6V to deliver 500A.

on another note, the vacuum value has been increasing slowly throughout heating, possibly due to the presence of indium within the mass marker reservoir, or simply because this target has not been hot for some time. Leaving TGHT at 502A for the time being.

Friday, September 23, 2011, 16:3: The connection on the 9-pin connector for FEBIAD targets showed burn marks from the previous FEBIAD tests. Corresponding mark was found on the connector on the target side. Because of this the upper and lower 9-pin connectors were swapped to have a clean connector for the next FEBIAD target.

The gas system has been checked. The variable valve opens at about 7.55 very fast. Please be careful when using it. Stepsize for opening around this value should be 0.01. Gas lines have been pumped with pump in the high voltage rack. Ne leak was opened to release pressure.
