TM2 has been moved to CS. All turbo-pumps have been started. The pumping down is good so far. I connected the leak detector to service cap, and finished the leak check today. The LD base LR:0.0Xe-9atm.cc/sec. 80psi helium were applied to coil1, coil 2. HS and window circuits, each for 2minutes. No any response has been found on LD. So all water lines are leak tight now. I also sprayed helium to top service cap checking all air to vacuum seals. They are all good either. But, The new installed PGN1 does not work. Other thing need to mention is The TP2 is running at 2.45A which is 1A higher comparing to TP1. It need to be monitored to see if we have to replace it or not. The high current cables and water lines will be connected tomorrow morning. |
Friday, August 14, 2015, 10:00, David Wang, Conditioning Station, Repair, TM2, , Started CS water package for TM2
|
I finished the rest TM2 connections to CS, and started CS cooling package. Everything works fine so far. |
Wednesday, August 19, 2015, 14:52, David Wang, Conditioning Station, Repair, TM2, , TM2 at CS
|
During the TM2 HV test at CS, It failed. In order to confirm there is no any water leak inside the module after the heaters and beam extraction test, I disconnected all the water lines on the TM2, and purged the water lines with pressure air. Leak detector was reconnected back to the TM2 service cap, and all water lines are pressurized with 80psi helium again each for 2 minutes. No any leak had been found during the test. All the water lines are still perfectly sealed. Also, I checked all the vacuum to air seals on the top of the module. They are good either. Anders used the RGA tracking the helium during the test. No leak. |
Thursday, August 20, 2015, 09:38, David Wang, Conditioning Station, Repair, TM2, , TM2 was disconnected at CS
|
TM2 was disconnected at CS. Travis and I did electrical check before the venting. After,The module was vented and moved to SHC. The moving is smooth. |

Weekly update target hall schedule.See attachment 1,2
Spring and summer run is close to the end. This will be the last update on this old schedule. See attachment3,4. A new schedule for TH activities after mini shut down will be posted next time. |
Wednesday, August 26, 2015, 14:28, David Wang, Conditioning Station, Standard Operation, TM2, ZrC, Leak check on TM2 HS and windowwater line with new ZrC target at SHC
|
Chad and I leak checked TM2 HS and window circuit VCR joints with ZrC target and containment box installed at SHC. No leak has been found. They will be helium pressurized at CS later. |
Wednesday, August 26, 2015, 14:30, David Wang, Conditioning Station, Standard Operation, TM2, ZrC, TM2 and Cs vacuum sysyem has been connected at CS.

Turbo-pumps are started . The pumping down is good so far. |
Wednesday, August 26, 2015, 14:52, David Wang, Conditioning Station, Standard Operation, TM2, ZrC, Helium pressure test on TM2 HS and window lines at CS
|
LD base LR 0.0xE-9 atm.cc/sec , 80 psi helium 2 minutes on HS and window circuits. No leak. Also, the reinstalled(after rewiring job) TP2 and PNG1(steers) side panel have been leak checked. No leak. |

Tuesday, September 01, 2015, 10:38, David Wang, ITW, Maintenance, TM2, , ITW top tank flange clean up and r-ring replacement.
|
During last run, ITW dump circuit had a water leak on an adaptor below the pressure gauge. The top tank flange, slot, and O-ring were water contaminated by the leak. I removed the old o- ring, cleaned up the flange and o-ring slot, and put a new o-ring into the flange. Some pictures will be attached in this mail later. |
Tuesday, September 01, 2015, 14:54, David Wang, ITW, Standard Operation, TM2, , TM2 has been connectec in ITW.
|
TM2 has been connected in ITW. During the connection, Anders and I found the TM2 high current cables used in ITE and CS are short in ITW. Anders and Grant found the original TM2 ITE high current cables in target hall. We replaced them. They works fine. But, a little bit longer on cable length would be easy to connect them. All other connections and HV cover in ITW work for the TM2 so far. |
Wednesday, September 02, 2015, 09:26, David Wang, ITE, Standard Operation, , , Target Hall schedule from Sep 08th 2015 to Dec 25th 2015

Maico and Dan moved 5 shielding blocks from ITE to ITW. The ITW is configured to take proton beam. |
Tuesday, September 15, 2015, 08:24, David Wang, South Hot-Cell, Repair, TM1, UCx 13, Leak check on TM1 window circuit soldering stems in service cap.
|
I did a leak check on TM1 window circuit 2 soldering stems in service cap.The round side panel was opened for the job. I sprayed helium on the stems for 10 seconds. The leak detector got a tiny response(from 0.0xE-9 atm.cc/sec to 2.0xE-9 atm.cc/sec). The test repeated again. The second time, LD climbed to 1.2xE-9atm.cc/sec. It looks like there is a very tiny leak on the stems soldering spots. But , this is not the same leak we found from SHC helium spray which LD climbed to 1.4xE-8atm.cc/sec with only one click helium spray by Chad.
Because of the high air flow at SHC when the round panel is removed, The result is not conclusive. The same test is done at silo without airflow. We found a big leak on this soldering stems . See later e-log. |
Thursday, September 17, 2015, 11:50, David Wang, Spent Target Vault, Repair, TM1, , TM1 window circuit leak check
|
Leak check TM1 window circuit soldering stems inside service cap when module is located at NE silo. LD base LR 0.0xE-9atm.cc/sec. Only 1 second tiny amount helium sprayed on stems soldering joints . LD got a quick response to high E-7 atm.cc/sec.Test is repeated again with same result. See attachments |
Tuesday, September 22, 2015, 13:15, David Wang, South Hot-Cell, Standard Operation, , Ta#46, Leak check on TM4 HS water line with new Ta#46 target. at SHC
|
Chad and I leak checked the HS line at SHC. No leak. Leak rate 0.0xE-9atm.cc/sec. |
Wednesday, September 23, 2015, 14:32, David Wang, Conditioning Station, Standard Operation, TM4, Ta#45, Helium pressure test on TM4 HS line at CS
|
Helium pressure test HS line at CS with 70 psi for 2 minutes. Base leak rate 0.0xE-9atm.cc/sec. No response. The line is leak tight. |
Wednesday, September 23, 2015, 14:35, David Wang, Conditioning Station, Standard Operation, TM4, Ta#46, TM4 has been connected at CS
|
TM4 has been connected at CS. Turbo- pumps and water system are started and running . The HV cover has been installed on the module. Everything is good so far. |
Thursday, September 24, 2015, 07:00, David Wang, Conditioning Station, Maintenance, TM4, Ta#46, Turned off TCS all vacuum pumps and water pumps.
|
TCS:MP1 back up pressure went up too high (700mtorr).I turned off all the pumps. The TCS is under vacuum still. TCS water package cooling fans showed error on control page. The water pumps are stopped also.
Restarted the vacuum pumps 40 minutes after stopping. Everything is back to normal. The MP1 back up pressure need to be monitored frequently before we have a final solution on this issue.
Reset the CS cooling package on roof and restarted the water pumps. The system is running good so far. |
