TM3 has been disconnected this morning and  purged all HV water lines. I found the power plug for all turbo pump fans wasnt connected  during the last run. That maybe the one of the reason on that ITE TP3 failure.

The target was inspected by Chad and Anders in the Hot Cell. Electrical megger tests were done during the assembly. It was found that Insulators No 3 (ITD0311) and No 2 (ITD0310) failed to hold voltage after the run.

  558   Wednesday, November 27, 2013, 12:50 Bevan MossSouth Hot-CellStandard OperationTM3 Ground devices wiring check

Travis and I completed an electrical check on the wiring harness for the devices on the ground plane. All lines passed 500V with the megger except for PNG and the BTM steerer. Those devices had a short to ground. of ~1.4ohm.

559   Wednesday, November 27, 2013, 15:24 Bevan MossSouth Hot-CellMaintenanceTM3 Wiring Harness Electrical Test

Maico removed the containment box today allow Travis and I to further test the wiring harness. I disconnected the junction block and Travis and I repeated the test from yesterday. The all lines except the PNG tested OL. The module was then lowered and the twisted pair connected to the pin that corresponds to the steerer labeled BTM (it is likely this is not labeled correctly). This testing showed showed that the source of the short found yesterday is in the wiring harness or the source tray. The PNG gauge was then tested again. When beeping out the harness to find the location of the pin it was found that the short had gone away. This circuit was then tested with the megger at 500V and showed OL. Don Jackson has suggested looking at the SHV feed through. It is difficult to determine where the source of the problem is as it is intermittent. The source tray side wiring harness for the steerers was then disconnected from the steerers and tested to OL. Finally the connections on the source tray were tested. It was determined that the third socket down (see attached picture) has a short somewhere to ground. When Chad returns on Friday I will have him complete a visual inspection and if the source can be found we may be able to deflect the line. Failing that to repair this connection a new steerer cone assembly will need to be installed.

  560   Friday, November 29, 2013, 11:54 chad fisherSouth Hot-CellRepairTM3 Steerer short investegation

Using in cell camera and transit the suspect line on the steerers was inspected as best as possible. An existing photo of the complete steerers before installation was used for comparison. The wiring and beading inspected today showed no obvious problems, breaks or spots where there may be a short. In comparison to the photo from construction, what we could see of the steerers looked identical to the original installation.

The test was repeated to confirm that there was a short.

613   Thursday, March 06, 2014, 06:58 David WangITEMaintenanceTM3 ITE vacuum and leak check on ITE BL2A window flange.

ITE and TM3 Turbo pumps have been started successfully yesterday. The vacuum reading on all ITE high vacuum gauges are at low E-6 range after one night pumping down which are good so far. There is no any sign of leak on BL2A window and the flange seal on ITE side. Yesterday afternoon, Ron , Edi ,and I  did a leak check on the ITE BL2A window flange(2aTunnel side). The leak detector was hooked onto BL2A in tunnel. Ron and I supplied helium from TH  to the helium test line(located in  ITE pit) which  we have on ITE BL2A window flange.   The helium test line end nozzle is just located under  the bottom of the 2A window flange. Edi was in BL2A tunnel checking the leak detector. We supplies 10- 15 psi helium 3 times to the test line. Each time for 10 seconds. The helium flow was checked twice and they were good. The LD base LR was 2.2xE-5 atm.cc/sec, After 70 seconds , The leak rate on LD was increased to 5.3 xE-5 atm.cc/sec. The leak rate reading  recovered after 20seconds. There is no obviously conclusion where the leak is. At that moment, Ron said, he and Edi would like to do  some further leak check  in 2A tunnel, and I went back to my job.

616   Friday, March 07, 2014, 12:45 David WangITEStandard OperationTM3 TM3 and ITE air to vacuum leak check and TM3 water lines helium test.

With TM3 located in ITE, All air to vacuum seals  on ITE primary and secondary vacuum vessel have been leak  checked with leak detector hooked directly on the TM3 service cap.The base LR :00xE-9atm.cc/sec. The ITE IG1 was 1.6xE-6 torr which was good. No leak has been found during the checking. Also, the TM3 water lines(except HS) had been  pressurized with 70 psi helium on each for 2 minutes. There was no response during the test. The ITE and TM3 are good on leak checking.See attachment pictures
