TM#2 with C#3 has been moved from the north hot cell to ITW. Also for the up coming site wide power outage, the ISAC Target Hall crane has been turned off and powered down, also the remote crane console has also been power down as well so that mean no ISAC TV for a few days. |

Adam Newsome | Spent Target Vault | Development | | | Mini-Storage: Remote Capability |
Remote capability was added for the mini-storage door control. The control signals originate from the Opto 22 Module box that is used for the SMP remote control (this is located just above the storage vault).
The controls signal assignment document has been updated and can be found in C:\PDM Vault\PDM_Vault\_models\isac\isac1\wpn-3919 - safe module parking\Electrical
In order to operate remotely:
- Plug the mini-storage control box power cable into a wall outlet (adjacent main storage vault, under stairs)
- Plug the motor output cable into the mini-storage door motor
- Unplug the local pendant from the box
- Plug the cable that comes from the remote module box into the connector that the pendant was plugged into (M12, 5 pole Murr connector)
- Using the remote control program from the ISAC RH control room, click on the Mini-Storage option and then click buttons for open and close to operate the door (note: it is important to verify both opening and closing functions work before attempting any remote operation).
Remote and local functionality have been tested and verified working.
It is recommended to mount the mini-storage control box in a convenient area near the mini-storage (possibly on the wall adjacent the main storage vault).

Adam Newsome | Spent Target Vault | Development | | | Mini-Storage: Cable track for e-chain installed |
A cable track was installed between the mini-storage vault and the silos, for the purpose of implementing a retractable cable chain (e-chain). This will allow for cables to be managed during door opening/closing, so that remote control operation of the door will be possible in the future. See Work Permit I2021-08-11-2 (Aug 11)
Holes were drilled into the motor mounting plate (IRH2089) to allow for mounting a limit switch on the plate. See Work Permit I2021-08-17-7 (Aug 17)
Preliminary testing was completed in which the e-chain was fixed to the door with a C-clamp. Local and remote functionality were checked, and limit switch functionality was verified. Everything is working as expected. A final test will be conducted once the e-chain is fixed to the door and cabling routed through it. See Work Permit I2021-08-19-1 (Aug 19)
The e-chain has not yet been fixed to the vault door - holes will be drilled in-situ after preliminary testing is complete to confirm positioning.
Edit [2021-09-23]: the installation is complete and has been tested. |

Carla Babcock | ITE | Repair | TM4 | Ta#62 | Electrical issues on Ta62 |
TLDR: TBHT voltage too high and rising too quickly with TGHT current - voltage limited. TGHT power supply tripped breakers somehow. ITE:EL not outputting voltage.
A short between feedthroughs A and P developed at the end of the p2n run in this module, and was fixed by Chad prying apart the lines in the source tray with a long teflon bar. We did not take the containment box off to fix it properly for reasons of time and also potential damage to the containment box. This seemed to fix it and David measured around 13MOhms between A-P when the module was installed in ITE. To make sure we could recover if the short reappeared during the run, David did not connect the P/Q feedthrough to HV common on the module top as usual, but it was connected in the electrical room. I also unhooked the busbar from the coil power supply.
When trying to start the TGHT ramp up, it was discovered that ITE:TGHT had a fault in its readback circuit, which was showing negative voltages. Not sure how this happened, since the power supply was not used for the previous p2n run, maybe an HV spark? This supply was replaced with the spare (SN 1161-9894).
When TGHT and TBHT were able to be ramped up, we found that the tube heater voltage was increasing too much with the target current. Normally the rate of increase is about 0.0004 V per amp on TGHT. This time it was 0.004 V/A. This was causing the TBHT to be voltage limited, which I thought could be related to the AP short. So I re-wired it such that the P feedthrough (#7 in the electrical room) was disconnected from everything except it was tied to feedthrough A (#1) using a 100 Ohm resistor. This should prevent it from floating and also prevent current from going through. See documentation in the Target Records folder (https://documents.triumf.ca/docushare/dsweb/Get/Document-204373/July272021_ITETM4_electricalissues.pdf).
During the subsequent ramp up, the TGHT power supply tripped the breakers when it was at 500A, 8V. The cause of this is still uncertain, and the TBHT voltage issue persisted after the wiring change. In the interest of time we decided to stay conservative on the currents used and continue to run like this. It may also be possible that the copper block which is supposed to reference TBHT negative to HV common is not attached.
Finally ITE:EL is still not working. It shows a value on the front of the PSU but doesn't draw enough current and doesn't affect the beam. We are running without it and it will hopefully be fixed on the Aug. 4 maintenance day.
These electrical issues bear some resemblance to those with Ta61, but I don't think we ever determined the cause there. |
