ITW EXIT1 o-ring replacement is fininshed today. The ITW EXIT 1 is back to ITW. The old o-ring lost most its elastic property and changed to stiff sqaure shape inside the slot. The flange surface around the o-ring slot was dirty. I cleaned the o-ring surface completely before putting the new o-ring . Everything should be fine now. There will be a leak check late on this new installed o-ring.

Dave Morris and I investigated the Faraday Cup today. It was found to be plumed in the wrong direction (fails in). This is not an issue for the conditioning station as there is nothing down stream from the cup. Dave will change the controls to reflect this.

Entry  Wednesday, April 24, 2013, 09:00, Bevan Moss, Conditioning Station, Development, , , New user testing

Controls has created a new user group that can operate the conditioning station but cannot use any of the bypasses or forces. The cooling package will be used to test this new profile. The main loop bypass has been opened to allow this testing to happen without the risk of over pressure.

The source tray for the mock-up has been setup for waterline bending and soldering/brazing.

Thanks to Travis for finding the photos for the TM3 rebuild that took place in the anteroom in 09' and Maico and Dan for the support in ironing the issues with the source tray side soldering issues.

Entry  Wednesday, May 15, 2013, 10:20, Bevan Moss, Conditioning Station, Repair, , , Roof top chiller failed

I have been getting a fault on the roof top chiller for the 2 tandem 7.5 ton chillers. I have checked and we have water flow and the temperatures are nowhere near freezing. I believe they are over heating as the fans on that side are not coming on. The blades are free to turn by hand but the VFD controller keeps saying off. I have tried turning it on and off and that also did nothing. I have contacted ESC for further advice.

Entry  Wednesday, May 15, 2013, 10:25, Bevan Moss, Conditioning Station, Repair, , , ONICON flow meter

Scott Adair from Riada sales came to site to complete diagnostics on the ONICON flow meter. He could not determine the problem and believes that there was a short in the head. He has taken the flow meter for what should be warranty repair. The flow meter is for diagnostics only, the conditioning station can still operate without it.

A special thanks to Kazuya, Jane and Ray who jumped on this issue right away! The limit of the BIAS PS was set as 20000uA when in reality it is 4000uA. The issue has now been corrected. Please remember to divide the current by 5 for any elogs older than this one.

ESC came today and "repaired" the chiller. There was something wrong with the VFD controller. The were able to get it to start and run correctly again but were not able to recreate the problem. At this point it appears that it has magically disappeared.

Entry  Thursday, May 23, 2013, 14:12, Bevan Moss, Conditioning Station, Maintenance, , , Primary Circuit Drained and Flushed

Rob Walker has drained the primary side of the conditioning station. It will be flushed, filled  and chemically treated. It was desired to chemically treat the primary side before before but it took so long that sediment was found (things started to grow).

The special tool made for the RFQ target autopsy has been inserted into the hot cell.

4-40 button head screws have been successfully lossened.

Entry  Monday, May 27, 2013, 15:59, Bevan Moss, Conditioning Station, Repair, , , Compressor fault

Once again the 7.5 compressors are tripping due to faults. I believe it is due to over pressure as a result of the chiller fans not coming on. I have contacted ESC.

Entry  Monday, May 27, 2013, 16:01, Bevan Moss, Conditioning Station, Repair, , , CanBUS card

During HV conditioning of TM4 with Ta#40 there was a spark at ~43 kV that caused the Bias card to "fry". Dave Morris has been contacted and has said he will replace it tomorrow.

Major portions of the RFQ target have now been sucessfully dismantled. More minor dismantling with conclude this afternoon.

Spent target SiC#28 (RFQ Target) has been moved from the south hot to the storage vault. The target was placed in pail #105 in spot 2C of  the spent target vault. The target had a field of 24.8mSv/hr at about a meter upon removal from the south hot cell. See attached PDF for the status of the vault. It currently only has six free spots left.

Entry  Tuesday, June 04, 2013, 15:34, Bevan Moss, Conditioning Station, Repair, , , Relay replaced

ESC was called out again to inspect the chiller as it was showing the same problem as before. This time when started one fan came on (this is not what happened last time) but the fan controlled by the VFD did not. It was eventually traced to a relay that has been replaced. The system was tested as best it could without a load and appears to be working. It will be difficult to tell until a heat load is in place if the fix has solved everything.

Entry  Wednesday, June 12, 2013, 10:39, Travis Cave, South Hot-Cell, Standard Operation, , , spent source tray removal

The spent source tray for TM#3 has been removed from the south hot cell and well be placed in the the hot cell ante room. To sit till maintenance day to be moved over to the vault storage tunnels.

Entry  Thursday, June 20, 2013, 13:47, Travis Cave, Spent Target Vault, Standard Operation, , , Spent Target Assay Vault_Storage_June_20_2013.pdf

Ten targets have been assayed or had field measurements(they were too hot to ship but were assayed the last time an assay was done) done on them  over the past two days. Of those that have been assayed we have total of ten shippable targets. See the attached PDF for the latest details of the storage vault.
