Some wires in PLC were not creating a good contact - could be problem re: IGP1 tripping off.
Wires replaced by Gelo.
Pumped down and turned on power supplies over weekend.
Everything remained on - IGP1 did not trip system off.
May proceed with regular use.

|
This morning, the vacuum responded to shutting of the water of the heat shield circuit (leak rate without pumping leveling out). The vacuum chamber was vented and the heat shield with flexible lines was replaced with another heat shield with fixed lines. The chamber was again pumped down and water opened at ~150 mTorr to test the leak up rate without pumping. No leaks apparent, so continued pumping down with turbo pump. At a vacuum of about 1E-6 Torr the water was again supplied to the heat shield circuit and an increase in vacuum could be observed. Stopped the turbo pump and prepared to vent. Two new heat shield lines were brazed in the machine shop and fitted by Maico after lunch. During this time one of the old lines (from heat shield to feedthrough in box) was leak tested and a leak found at a location just above the VCR. The line had been twisted and due to the twist developed a leak. With the two lines replaced, the vacuum was pumped down again and water could be supplied without any increase in vacuum pressure at 1E-6 Torr. To facilitate the new copper tubing, the restraining bracket for the heat shield VCRs was not mounted. It will have to be fitted later. Until then, please contact Anders for help in removing the heat shield to prevent any damage to the new lines. |

Tuesday, July 11, 2017, 11:24
Tapped TGHT up to 45A - pressure stabilized at around 3.0e-5 Torr.
Auto ramp 1.0A/min to reach 350A before tapping up further.
Wednesday, July 12, 2017, 10:59
TGHT reached to 350A/5.5V, temp @ 1270C - much lower than expected; could be a short between the target container and the heat shield. I actually had a had time adjusting the target legs to avoid shorting the cu-heat shield.
Tapped TGHT further up to 375A/6.07V, Omega Temp at 1340C. Holding current for about 50 mins, re-measured with pyrometer - temperature matches.
Wednesday, July 12, 2017, 14:49
TGHT set at 450A/7.7A. Temp at ~1550C. See attachment for temp plot
Holding at temp for 5 days before cooling down on Monday July 17.
Thursday, July 13, 2017, 17:52
TGHT tripped off due to bad IEVAP2:WFB1 water flow. Not sure what was the cause. Will leave the heater off for now and investigate this tomorrow.
Friday, July 14, 2017, 11:48
Investigated the bad water flow situation. It was due to a faulty water flow sensor. The paddle wheel stopped turning until I gave it a tab. We had a similar problem before with the water sensor, see elog ID 109. It is probably the time to replace all the water sensors.

Sounds like materials coming out from all the out-gassing during sintering processes has ruined the bearings.

Yesterday, Wednesday June 08, 2022 @ ~3.00 pm a "dummy" target container was installed in EVAP 2 after the heatshield assembly had been swapped.
The purpose is to test correct functioning of the system. Melting and evaporation on one of the bolts of the previous target container (eLog578) prompted the change in heatshield assembly and current testing.
TGHT was ramped up to 740A @ 4A/min, left to run at the final current for ~4.5 hours and then ramped down @-2A/min to 0A.
Will dismount dummy container this morning.
IGP1=2.5e-07 Torr
