Target boat has a layer of niobium foil on the bottom of the boat.
A niobium foil has been made with slots to hold samples [similar to when sintering endcaps] *See attached photos
Larger niobium samples are placed in the slots, holding in place, to avoid warping; smaller niobium sample sitting inside the boat by itself.
Smaller sample closest to OMEGA IR reading [right side]
Boat is wrapped with 1 large layer of Ta foil, wrapped around the boat 3x, careful to avoid touching samples.
Loaded into evap2 yesterday.
Vacuum pump bearings gone - pump replaced this morning by vacuum group.
Pumping down now...
Friday, May 06, 2016, 13:36

Laura Lambert | | | | Maintenance | NEW PUMP FOR GLOVE BOX | Wednesday, August 03, 2016, 16:16
Tues July 26th had some problems with the transfer chamber
Transfer chamber was not going below -20in pressure, when usually it will drop all the way to -30in
To by pass and put the uranium target into the glove box, the transfer chamber was flushed 10x - when opened, no change in H2O and O2 in glove box; therefore, 'bypass' worked.
Pump removed and tested by vacuum group - showed no reading on gauge when being tested, how was it even pumping?
New pump installed July 27th.
New pump = bigger/ faster/ quieter

Laura Lambert | | | | Maintenance | New Ion Gauge for IGP2 | Thursday, May 11, 2017, 11:25
IGP2 has been having problems where sometimes it turns off and requires simply unplugging and plugging back in.
Ion gauge has been replaced.
At first the vacuum box appeared red on epics and when attempting to reset everything nothing would work and the backing pump would try and turn on then timeout.
Apparently this new ion gauge draws slightly more than the old one and this blew a fuse in the PLC.
Old fuse was 2A, so a new 3A fuse has been replaced - seems to be working fine now.

Problems occured with TGHT water supply paddle wheel stopped and therefore tripped off evap2 last week.
All paddle wheels were replaced today for evap2 [other than the chiller].
A build up of dirt was found on all wheels replaced.
Evap2 good to go.
Will test flow meters before heating up to higher setpoints to confirm everything is working.

Discs previously casted by Marla and Pauline and weighed.
Discs are placed inside a small graphite container.
Graphite container with discs loaded with 30 discs was loaded into Ta-boat previously coated with TaC.
Ta-boat is wrapped with 3 Ta heat shields.
Loaded in evaporator 2.
Chamber currently pumping down.
Thursday, July 20, 2017, 16:07
HS water valves were opened in the morning, no leaks were detected.
Perform water test to confirm paddle wheels are working well.
Current was tapped manually to 40 A.
Read out on meter confirmed paddle wheels are registering
Tap back down to 20 A, tripped off system on purpose by closing HS water valves.
TGHT tripped off as expected.
Water flow test was good, initiating ramp up of samples.
Taped manually to 40 A.
After the stabilization of the vacuum auto ramping was set up to 0.2 A/min.
Up to a final set up point of 250 A.
Final desired temperature ~1800 C.
Friday, July 21, 2017, 10:20
Final set up from July 20 was reached.
Current reading: 244.6 A.
Voltage reading: 3.82 V.
Temperature reached: 1105 C.
Final set up was change to 1500 A.
The temperature reached at 6 pm was 1936 C so the current was decreased to 488 A.
The final temperature after 30 min was 1800 C.
The set up stayed the same for the weekend.
Monday, July 24, 2017, 13:06
Temperature reading in the morning was 1856 C.

Laura Lambert | | | | Problems | IGP1 mis-communicating with EPICS - PLC problem? | Monday, July 31, 2017, 15:24
Turned on BV and TP this afternoon.
Started ramping down, ~1min after turned on both tripped off.
Vacuum box turned red.
IGP1 appears yellow but still registering a vacuum.
TP interlocks: requires IEVAP2:IGP1 < 500mTorr but IGP1 = 6mTorr when tripped off.
Should have been satisfied and therefore not tripped but IGP1 not communicating?
Nothing wrong with ion gauge in person, vacuum good on direct read out.
When attempting 'Global Reset', nothing would reset - vacuum box remained red etc.
See screenshot attached of errors.
Tuesday, August 01, 2017, 15:31
Had kept BP, PV and RV overnight.
This morning vacuum fine, everything had reset except "IEVAP2:TP on" under device notes for IEVAP2:TP remained red.
Turned on BV and TP, once turbo pump registered on, red wording went away.
Currently pumping down - everything looks fine now.
Still unsure of reason for these errors...
Friday, August 04, 2017, 10:55
Happened again last night at ~5:45 while evaps at ~420A - see elog i.d. 383 for photos and details.

evap2 tripped twice yesterday.
1st trip) there was a power bump which caused a trip at ~4:20pm, this can be seen in the striptool image attached.
-TGHT spiked to zero, but immediately went back to the ~420A it was sitting at at the time.
-This did not initiate a full trip of everything, but a visual spike in the system can be seen
-Oddly this was not picked up in archives - happened so fast and must have been in the small time frame it was not picking up information
-Did TGHT actually drop to zero followed by then applying an immediate 420A?
-Or did it simple not register a reading due to power bump?
2nd trip) IGP1 stopped communicating at ~5:45pm, this can be seen in both the archives, striptool and evap2 control screenshot images attached
-IGP1 was fine, vacuum was good
-Registering good vacuum in epics - can see in screen shot vacuum was still good but IGP1 turned yellow as if turned off
-This resulted in TP followed by BV tripping off due to no longer getting a vacuum reading making the TP think there was a bad vacuum.
-Possible miscommunication with PLC?
-This is the same scenario that happened on mon - see elog i.d. 381
Will follow up when more information acquired...
