 Tuesday, July 18, 2017, 15:26

Problems occured with TGHT water supply paddle wheel stopped and therefore tripped off evap2 last week.

All paddle wheels were replaced today for evap2 [other than the chiller].

A build up of dirt was found on all wheels replaced.

Evap2 good to go.

Will test flow meters before heating up to higher setpoints to confirm everything is working.

Wednesday, March 04, 2020, 14:31: Water supplies opened. All ok except Chiller (Disconnected from PS, but not the supply/return, do not open Chiller lines)

Controls work ongoing.

Thursday, March 05, 2020 (Darwin)

Gelo finished installation of the other power supply S:_____________________.

It was tested and proved to be operational and epics controlled.  Tested up to 60A

Chiller interlock was removed as it is no longer needed.

Will wait for Aaron to swap FEBIAD assembly in EVAP 2.

OMEGA-IR laser had a dark patch on it [see picture]

Cleaned window, still dark patch

When tested by itself, through air, not through window, patch still visible - cleaned lens of OMEGA-IR, still no change.

Conclusion: assuming laser used to be able to focus the OMEGA-IR to a specific area - so visual only, but the measurements itself will not be affected.

Wednesday, November 26, 2014, 13:53

Backing pump trips off every time roughing valve turned on through epics.

Requested further investigation...

Friday, November 28, 2014, 12:09

Backing Pump has been replaced, waiting on a reply from OMEGA re: dark patch on laser

Pancake monitor was also acting funny. Background was reading 100cpm and jumping up to as high as 400cpm by simply moving the probe piece.

The wire connecting the probe to the monitor was replaced and works fine now.

 Tuesday, December 09, 2014, 15:55

Finally got a reply from the OMEGA people:

"That [ dark patch] would happen because of sharp bends in the fiber, or simply defective fiber cable.

As manufacturer we allow 2% of broken fibers, out of 870 in the bundle.

As far as measurements is concerned, if IR2 is used in dual colour mode,

the field of view can be obstructed as much as 50%,

without changing the readings accuracy. This laser issure should not affect readings."

-Quote from Brian Newport from OMEGA

2 samples of np-TiO2/C fibres were produced using the e-spinner.  Each sample was wrapped with a piece of graphite sheet, and then loaded into a target container.

Sample will be heated to 1700 C.

TGHT will be autoramped to 450 A; this should be close to 1600 C. (see elog#596)

Good vacuum: 3e-5 Torr

Bad vacuum: 5e-5 Torr

Omega slope: 0.99

Initiate autoramp: 1 A/min

Chamber has been pumped down below 4.2e-6 Torr.

 Tuesday, November 01, 2022, 22:46

 Pressure currently at 6.4e-7 Torr.

Initiated auto-ramping

 Wednesday, November 02, 2022, 09:37

TGHT was ramped up to 448A (readback 445-452A / 8.05V - 8.11V).  The voltage is much higher than the last process, see elog #596.

Temperature is much higher at this current, reading at 1870 - 1872 C.

Will keep at this setting for now and continue to monitor.

See attachment#1 for the TGHT-Pressure plot.

 Wednesday, November 02, 2022, 21:35

Samples have been heated for over 16 hours; temp has been stabilized at 1875 C, vacuum at 7.3 e-7 Torr.

Initiated cooling at 1A/min.

Chamber will be vented tomorrow morning.

Vacuum has come down to 7e-7 as TGHT is being ramped up at 0.2A/min. (see attachment#1).

Increase TGHT rate to 2A/min.

 Thursday, June 21, 2012, 17:37

The NiO discs were heated up to 1500C at 560A.  The target heater was lowered in steps and the temperature was measured.  At 320A, the target container was ~1110C.  (see attachment #1)

There was a sign of resistant on the target container as the p/s voltage started to go up at a higher rate.  (see attachment#2, 3, 4 for the archived striptool).

Unfortunately, the target container was broken; it was most likely reacted with the Ni.  (see attachment#5)

So.... the possible solution?!  TRY coating the container with Ta2O5.  Will discuss more in the Friday Jun 22 meeting.

IGP2 has been having problems where sometimes it turns off and requires simply unplugging and plugging back in.

Ion gauge has been replaced.

At first the vacuum box appeared red on epics and when attempting to reset everything nothing would work and the backing pump would try and turn on then timeout.

Apparently this new ion gauge draws slightly more than the old one and this blew a fuse in the PLC.

Old fuse was 2A, so a new 3A fuse has been replaced - seems to be working fine now.
