Back to pilot beam status as of around 18:00 last night. A couple of sideshows through the evening. ICR made an elog entry about the IOS:MB field stability
program here. But the information shown
is inconclusive. As noted in a work permit, Magstab is in fact using our |

Beam continues to be reserved for E1147 pilot beam use. Beam was nice and stable overnight, as expected. Beam (blue) followed source (red), independently
of ambient temperature, roughly reflected in the nearby Supernanogan plasma chamber temperature (maroon).
Later... at 10:14 today there was a sitewide power bump due to an HPL test. It tripped the cyclotron and one isolated ISAC ion gauge. The ICR operators |

MWS continues to provide 22Ne2+ for pilot beam use. Beam quietly sitting on FC6. Stripchart attached. Also, Supernanogan plasma is on at low RF power
for conditioning. |

Last day of this pilot beam to TUDA-II. Expect a beam switch tomorrow for sake of TIGRESS.
Attached is Stripchart of weekend beam operation. Pretty nice indeed. Top trace (red) is Q3 skimmer, representative of total beam out of the source
Blue trace is 22Ne2+ on FC6 with magnet field stabilization program active. Brown trace is NA-LCW temperature as measured at exit of Supernanogan plasma |

Source started at 800W of microwave power and 2cc/min neon gas easily. New magnetron produces more power than the old one.
We should try to keep MW power under 500W during running and use only 800W for ignition. EE left off for the night. |

21Ne has been available from the MWS since mid-week. Here is roughly how last week unfolded to now:
Monday: MCIS -> MWS and remove MCIS cart
Tuesday: leakcheck MWS source gas manifold |
Tue Nov 17 09:18:37 2009, Damien Gallop, , , 21Ne4+ to DRAGON for charge distribution studies
|
After their EOB with 17O3+ yesterday, DRAGON switched to 21Ne4+ running for charge distribution studies. Keerthi changed over the source gases for that
around 08:30 yesterday. Things went well. Beam intensity dropped off and leveled off overnight. I tweaked up the source just now. Current at H2:4 moved
from xe-10 to ~1.5enA. A stripchart is attached. Orange trace is H2:4, and green is COL0, which reflects total beam from the source. |

Last night Keerthi resolved the sparking issue in MWS and started the source while I was present. There was a frozen interlock condition ion IOS:BIAS,
which Graham resolved today. HV was on by ~11:00. Beam on FC6 immediately. It looks like Sophia took the beam at that point. I noticed that the Kepco appears
not regulating, and in any event is close to a limit (0.3A). I have asked Sophia for five minutes to reset it. |
Mon Nov 30 16:53:31 2009, Damien Gallop, , , 20Ne1+ to 8pi planned for tomorrow

OLIS beam to 8pi is planned for tomorrow. A 20Ne1+ beam of ~3nA at 28keV is the agreement. The 8pi line diagnosis is likely to take a couple or three
days. |

Beam is on for 8pi diagnosis by special request.
We set up beam in IOS yesterday. However, beam blinked out last evening, likely due to insufficient source gas pressure. Source restarted with
just a little difficulty this morning. ICR adjusted downstream IOS optics to match into next section. Looking good, and they are tuning now, ~10:00 a.m. |

20Ne1+ set up from the MWS and handed over to Sophia & Marco for accelerator recommissioning. Strip to 5+ at M:5. First day of beam. Happy St. Patrick's
Day.
Later... a Stripchart of beam today: baby-blue trace is FC6. Also, here are screenshots of the source. |

Beam idling overnight. Yesterday ICR called me regarding an IOSIOC reboot and consequent fallout. In short, it turned off IOS:MB. Not good. While the
fix was easy enough, it took time to find it, which would translate to downtime during regular delivery. A lesson learned. I just noticed now that the
magnet stability program was out of range and obviously had been since the IOC reboot. I reset the power supply and field. This procedure will need to |

OLIS sprung a water leak last night. Problem was sparking through a coiled cooling line. I replaced the pair of cooling lines and rerouted them
somewhat. Source is up again now. |
