This morning I try to contact PS group no one answer. Dan Louie is in vacation.
I went into the can diagnostics panel and reconfigure MB1 power supply.
This worked.

I am done with the FEBIAD test (anode biased)
We will swap the bias now to the cathode and change the polarity to negative. |

One thing that seems to be strange regarding this FEBIAD is the best results are without any current in the coil.
Normally for the neon ionization the on-line source wanted to be at around 50 to 80 Amp. Not this one.
Is there anything special about this coil?

Ray is finishing the electrical modifications for the FEBIAD with the biased cathode.
We found the source of the sparks. The disconnected target heater cables were resting on the Einzel lens cap.

Anders Mjos | | | | | | | Problems/Solutions | Short between gas line and heat shield |
There was a short between the gas line and the heat shield - as the gas line insulator was not tied to the heat shield. A Ta-wire was used to tie the gas line and keep it from touching the heat shield. |

As per Ray Dube for the FEBIAD anode bias test. The PS will need to be reconnected before a target is run. |

Yesterday Ray Dube has changed the configuration in order to run the FEBIAD with the cathode on negative bias.
There were a short between the gas line and the common. The box has been opened and the short removed.
This morning I am turning on the cathode heater to 290 A. |

Anders Mjos | | | | | | | Problems/Solutions | Roughing blows the fuse for both roughing pumps. |
The fuse for both roughing pumps blows when roughing the chamber. With the help from Edi: disconnect the exhaust port on the roughing pump for the first few hundred torrs of roughing. Reconnect and continue.
Seems the roughing pump RP1 pushes air towards the exhaust of RP2 which blows the fuse |

Aurelia Laxdal | | | | | | | In progress | Xantrex PS 10-600 for TSH:TGHT is not working |
When turned ON it was not going higher than 3.6A (EPICS/front panel). Kazuya checked the connections at the back and also the EPICS/PLC/PS input/output signals. He compared these values with the similar once of the TSH:TBHT PS (which is also a Xantrex PS 10-600). E-Fault 6275
It turned out to be the connections on the top of the ion source box: the target heater was not connected and the power supply was not seeing the load. Tomorrow we'll check all the top connections, with the corresponding power supplies. |

Turned on the HV: 30kV.
Tomorrow we'll start up the heaters: 580A for the target and 280-300A for the tube. |

Aurelia Laxdal | | HP-FEBIAD | ITE | TM4 | | | In progress | NiO#1 heating startup & few checks |
Friedhelm checked the voltage across R4 from ISK4563D-rev2.pdf. It shows 50 kOhms with the power supplies off and everything connected according to the drawing. With the Anode PS On and set at 20V, we could see the same readback on EPICS and on the meter.
Then started the heater ramping: auto ramp 2A/min.
We'd be watching the vacuum carefully during this process. Also the setup is such that:
- the target and tube heaters are only incremented if the vacuum is less than 5e-6Torr
- and if the vacuum exceeds 2e-5Torr the last increment of the target and tube heater is backed off.
Pierre asked for the 2e-5Torr limit to be changed to 8e-6Torr.
Anders asked to stop the heating at 500A to take a temperature measurement.
Raising the target heater from 500A to 580A.

Edi will replace TMSRP2 again as it became noisy since yesterday morning. Vacuum should not be affected by the work. |
