The pump failed to pump down below 2 Torr. on Friday 15th E-fault 8680 submitted. Vacuum group will replace the pump today

Edi Dalla Valle from vacuum group replaced the roughing pump TSG:RP1 in the morning. However, the pumping curve showed a leak: see attachment. It was suspected the VCR water line connection between the lid and the base of the target Heat Shield. After venting the chamber found the VCR connection between the lid and the base forgotten finger tight. Tighten it with wrenches and restarted pumping.

Turned ON the water for the heat shield cooling circuit. Put a lockout padlock on the transformer breaker since Controls work still seems to be underway.

Turned ON the TGHT and ramping it up at a rate of 1A/30sec. Currently it's at 108A.

Temperature measurements in progress for Ta46clone HP-SIS target, wrapped with 3 Ta foil heat-shields . Stopped for today at 360A for the TGHT and TBHT kept OFF.

Temperature measurements in progress for Ta46clone HP-SIS target, wrapped with 3 Ta foil heat-shields. currently at 496A and the window is OK.

Temperature measurements ended on Thursday, January 21, followed by cool down over night.

Pumping down: TS loaded with a LP-SIS container for spectrometer test.

Started heating up the target container: up to 300A.

Last week: the LP container was heated up to TGHT 580A and TBHT 230A, and cooled down before the weekend.

Pumping again (LP container in) for one more check. Last check was completed on July 26: up to 400A.

Vented the chamber today (July 27).

Did another test over the weekend. Currently the PSs are off and the chamber under vacuum.

Friday, September 23, 2011, 16:3: The connection on the 9-pin connector for FEBIAD targets showed burn marks from the previous FEBIAD tests. Corresponding mark was found on the connector on the target side. Because of this the upper and lower 9-pin connectors were swapped to have a clean connector for the next FEBIAD target.

  • While testing SiC#26 a leak was discovered on the water line to the heat shield. The leak was in the right joint (see attachment). The heat shield water lines were removed from the test stand and repaired in the Machine Shop.
  • Kapton was added to the FEBIAD coil line to prevent it from shorting to the target heater line (see attachment).

The leak valve has been tested with He and a leak detector. The leak valve could regulate in the complete range of the leak detector. 10^-11 to 10^-4 atm cc/s
