Entry  Wednesday, May 04, 2016, 11:14, Isaac Earle, North Hot-Cell, Development, , , North Hot Cell Scope Decision

A meeting was held on May 4, 2016 to determine the scope of the North Hot Cell project.  The following was agreed upon by those in attendance:

The NHC will be a designated target change hot cell.  It will be capable of performing all routine target operations (target removal/installation, leak check, electrical check, video inspection, post irradiation examination, target waste packaging and removal) using the same method currently used in the south hot cell.  Provisions will be included for the ability to perform target waste separation in the future unless a significant obstacle is encountered in which case the meeting attendees will be consulted.  Target waste separation involves separating the internal target heater from the target heat shield, then combining multiple target heaters in a single F-308 shipment.  Neither an inert gas atmosphere nor a double-door waste transfer system will be part of the NHC scope.

The following people were in attendance:  Bob Laxdal, Anders Mjos, Don Jackson, Joe Mildenberger, Friedhelm Ames, Alex Gottberg, Grant Minor, Yasmine Saboui, Peter Kunz

The following people were invited, but were unable to attend:  Chad Fisher, Pierre Bricault

The project will begin immediately, with Isaac Earle as the project leader.  The first steps will be to submit a Project Initiation Sheet, then to write and release the Requirements Specification document.

Entry  Monday, May 09, 2016, 08:43, David Wang, Conditioning Station, Repair, TM3, , I reinstalled all the side panel on TM3 service cap.

They were moved for TM3 inspection job last week. All the bolts on the panel are hand tight only now since they will be removed out for camera installation during next stage inspection.

Entry  Tuesday, May 10, 2016, 13:54, David Wang, South Hot-Cell, Standard Operation, TM2, , SHC, TM2 leak check on window line and HS line.

Chad and I leak checked the TM2 HS and window lines after new target installation.  The window line was very easy pumped down on LD. But, The HS line only could pumped to 2-3 torr at first. Chad changed the VCR gaskets on HS line(target). It solved the problem. The LD could pumped  both of Window and HS lines to the bottom scale. Chad sprayed lots helium around the VCR joints.  No leak has been found. WE will do helium pressurizing test on them at TCS.

PLEASE NOTE: the resistance values for A and B on David's attachment are not correct since these measurements were done after Chad removed the target and the heat-shield bracket was moved, so consequently the water lines were not at their nominal locations. Once they were back in plac,e David took another measurement and the resistance values for A and B showed also 3,000 MOhm (as it was for most of the lines). The only lines that still showed a low resistance were the Coil lines.

Entry  Tuesday, June 21, 2016, 13:47, Travis Cave/ Dan McDonald, Spent Target Vault, Repair, , , Spent Target Vault Door

The spent target vault door does not open or close. The emergency door closing did have to be used to close the door as it was locked in an open position, the door stopped just off the open override limit. The door was closed and the spent target that was being assayed was placed into the mini storage. The problem with the door appears to be related to the motor itself, as all the controls to the motor appear to be in working order. Also it was noticed on the emergency door closing winch the wire rope has a kink in it from sitting in open position for so long this can cause the wire rope to jump from the pulleys.

6/27/2016  Dan McDonald. Replacement motor was ordered from Beaver Industries Friday the 24th received this morning the 27th. Once received Travis wired the motor to its proper operating orientation. Once the motor was wired  it was  set it up and plugged it in to test rotation and control function, at this point we disconnected the motor and re installed it to the gear box. Ran three open close sequences to ensure all was well. In the case of the emergency cable system a plan is being developed to correct the cable slack and kinking problem. We went ahead and ordered a spare  vault motor which is located in the RH Machine Shop
