Maico and I leak checked HS circuit after Chad installed the target. The circuit was a little bit difficult o pump down because of residue water moister inside. But once the moisture was pumped out, the pumping down was smooth and fast. The base leak rate 0.0xE-9 atm.cc/sec, base pressure 0.0xE-4 torr. Maico checked helium flow before the leak test. Then,He sprayed helium to all 3 VCR fiitings on target with 2 seconds on each one, He also flushed 10 seconds helium around the target. There were no any response during all these test time on leak detector. He checked the helium flow again after the test  and confirmed the helium flow.  The HS circuit is leak tight.

714   Thursday, July 24, 2014, 18:21 Grant MinorSouth Hot-CellRepairTM2No target / no source trayLeak check on TM2 ionizer tube cooling lines C and D - module side

Target Ionizer tube cooling lines "C" and "D" in Target Module 2 were both leak checked at the Hot Cell.  The lines were both blanked-off.

Bill Paley was present with David Wang in the Target Hall, operating the leak detector.  Grant Minor and Anders Mjos were present with Chad Fisher at the Hot Cell.

The "D" circuit was already blanked off with a copper blank containing silver brazed stainless steel inserts and indium plated inconel c-seals.

The "C" circuit was already blanked off with an aluminum blank and rubber o-rings.

The cooling lines are indicated in the attached screencapture from ITA6021 Rev .14, and are also labelled in the attached photo.

The "D" circuit was checked first, starting at around 12pm.

1.  The helium flow was tested by blowing dust on the work table.

2. The base leak rate on the Varian leak detector was confirmed in the "D" circuit to be stable at 10^-9 atm cc / sec and the pressure was 10^-4 Torr.

3. Each soldered joint on the "D" circuit was sprayed with a 2-second blast of helium - no response at the Varian.

4. The joint between the module-half of the water block and the copper blank-off was sprayed with a 2-second burst - no response.

5. A general area flood of helium sprayed for 10 seconds was applied all around both the "D" and "C" blocks - no response.

It was concluded that the "D" circuit had passed this leak check.  The "C" circuit was checked next.  The detector was changed to the "C" circuit and the circuit was pumped down.  At around 2pm the leak check resumed.

6. The base leak rate on the Varian leak detector was confirmed in the "C" circuit to be stable at 10^-9 atm cc / sec and the pressure was 10^-4 Torr.

7. The solder joint area on the "C" circuit was sprayed with an 8-second burst of helium - no response.

8. The joint between the two halves of the water blocks was sprayed with a 6-second helium burst - no response.

It was concluded that the "C" circuit had passed this leak check.

The electrical continuity of the "C" and "D" circuits were confirmed in the Target Hall at the service cap, and in the module at the Hot Cell, to double check that the correct lines has been pumped and leak checked - this was OK.

The ionizer tube heater lines appear to be leak tight at the Hot Cell.

I did a helium pressure test on TM2 HS line at TCS. At 70psi helium, the leak rate is 2.5 xE-7 atm.cc/sec. I think this is the number that close to result before which is 1.7xE-9 atm.cc/sec. WE know there is a small leak on this water block seal. Chad  and I did helium  spray check yesterday at SHC. It was good at bottom scale.  No much worry on this low E-7 range leak.

Chad and I leak checked TM2 tube heater+(D) circuit at SHC with water bypass loop and new seals installed on the water block. The LD base LR 0.0xE-9 atm.cc/sec,base pressure0.0xE-4 torr. Chad sprayed helium on the leak check area in SHC for 5 seconds. No any response has been found on LD during 1minutes waiting time. The test was repeated again and the result is same. NO LEAK at this stage!  After the TM2 is moved to CS , The D line will be pressured with 80 psi helium for helium pressure leak test before any hot water is circuited through it.

1161   Wednesday, March 02, 2016, 10:04 David WangITWStandard OperationTM2 Leak check on ITW and TM2.

Dan and I leak checked TM2 and ITW primary vacuum vessel. It was found a 1X E-7 atm.cc/sec leak on top T flange seal between TM2 and dump module in first time check. But it is not a repeatable leak. I checked the same spot and around area two more times with increased helium volume. It did not show up again. The first response could  be a helium drift to dry scroll pump. I will check it again later. The primar vacuum vessel on ITW and TM2 are leak free.

Dan and I found a small  leak on ITW dump module  top flange seal. The leak detector got a response  to 7xE-9 atm.cc/sec when I spray the helium to west side of dump module top flange. We tested again, and got same result. The o-ring which seals ITW dump module top flange is deteriorating. It need to be replaced at a proper time. This is the only air to vacuum leak we confirm so far on primary and secondary vacuum vessel on TM2 and ITW. The module and station no other air to vacuum leak.

The TM2 water lines helium pressure tested started in ITW. The helium pressure 70psi. The result so far is: Window: good, GE: huge leak directly shoot over E-7 atm.cc/sec( need to be confirmed tomorrow), HS: good, EE: good, MSP: tiny leak which is response to 3-4xE-9 atm.cc/sec. Coil 1 : small leak which is response to 1.3XE-8 atm.cc/sec. Tomorrow, We will test the rest water lines on TM2which are TA+, TA-, Tube+, Tube-, and coil 2. And We will confirm the GE huge leak at the last.

Finished the helium pressure test on TM2 water line.70 psi helium, The result of the rests 5 circuits: coil 1: leak 7.2xE-8atm.cc/sec,Ta(+): small leak 1.7XE-8 atm.cc/sec, Ta(-) small leak 8.7xE-9atm.cc/sec,Tube(-) 1.5 x E-8 atm.cc/sec. Tube(+)small leak 3.7xE-8 atm.cc/sec.    We repeated the helium pressure test on GE. There is a huge leak on TM2 GE circuit. The leak detector shoot up to E-7  atm.cc/sec right after the helium was applied. It went up to E-6 range in less than 1 minutes.

  251   Friday, March 01, 2013, 11:35 David WangITEMaintenanceTM4 Leak check on ITE and TM4.
The leak check on TM4 and ITE is done. All primary vacuum vessel , secondary vacuum vessel  on TM4 and ITE are leak tight. There is no any response had been found on leak detector(leak detector base LR 0.0xE-9 arm.cc/sec). All water lines had been pressurized to 70 psi helium for 3 minutes. They are all perfect leak tight( I cant find even a tiny response on leak detector) except GE water cooling line. On the GE water line, the leak detector got a instantaneous response once I applied the helium to the circuit. The leak rate climbed directly from 0.0xe-9 atm.cc/sec to 1.5 xe-5 atmcc/sec even if I stopped the helium pressurizing immediately. Once I purged the helium out of the line, the leak rate return to 0.0XE-9 atm.cc/sec quickly. I repeated the test on GE water line again and got exactly same result as the before. I would say the leak on the ITE GE water circuit isn't a small leak. The same test could be fulfilled once the TM4 is in CS later.

ITW Entrance Module was leak checked yesterday with the support of Vacuum Group (Dimo & Edi). The leak detector was connected to primary backing vacuum line. A leak response was found near the bellow for the beam profile monitor on top of the Entrance Module. It could be confirmed today by actuating the monitor, that the leak was indeed at that location. The plan is to move the TM and Entrance Module out for target exchange and repair, respectively. Drawings of the device available on ITA0200and ITA5128
