1093   Tuesday, October 06, 2015, 13:00 David WangITERepairTM4  spark on top of TM4 in ITE

During the weekend condition The TM4 spark at 30KV without vacuum response. It is confirmed the spark is from the top TM4 this morning. The flexible cables in a  black wire sleeve which is used for febiad X pin connection drooped too close to the TM4 surface plate, and caused the sparking. The problem is fixed by Anders and David. The cables is put back where it should stay.  After test, no sparking on the top.

David Wang and I did the service cap inspection in target hall: see WP I2015-10-06-10.<br>

Signs of sparking were seen underneath 3 insulators: E ("Cavity"), A ("Oven+") and B ("Oven -") at the pair water lines coming out of the  feed-through and going to the HV chase. Specifically one water line of E is very close to the feed-through insulator (2-3mm gap) and here the sparking sings are more prominent: see picture.

The TM2 containment box was removed this morning for installation of the 9 pin connector...connection.

The 9 pin connector copper tube connection was made and Anders advised on routing of the cable to the banana plug water block connection.

Short was diagnosed (short disappeared when water block was pushed slightly towards center of module) and thicker Ultem spacer installed and tested again. All good.

  1109   Tuesday, October 20, 2015, 13:52 chad fisherSouth Hot-CellMaintenance  TM4 Febiad coil line disposal

The febiad coil line removed from TM4 has been cut into pieces small enough to be disposed of in a 5 gal pal. The line was cut with a Ridgid Model 104 manual pipe cutter (using the manipulators of course).

This pieces constitute the bulk of the field in the hot cell and will be disposed of with the next spent target.

Six F-308's where received from Nordion #6,#15,#13,#16 all contained contamination. Loose contamination was removed with some fixed contamination remaining levels are low enough to allow the transport of spent targets. flasks where serviced as per Nordion Document IS/PP 0009 F308, IS/PP 0981 F308. Flasks are now located in the north hot cell area.

1120   Tuesday, November 10, 2015, 10:23 Anders MjosConditioning StationMaintenanceTM3 Air to vacuum leak on service cap

Conducted a more thorough leak check this morning with Edi. He found a leak on the base of the  blue F/T insulator for the multi-pin connector (see attachment). I discovered that all the bolts could rotate freely in the threads as they were too small. The bolts were replaced. The leak rate was reduced but still significant. The o-ring will likely need to be replaced.

Tuesday, November 10, 2015, 17:00: Could not find new o-ring. Cleaned groove and o-ring and applied o-ring grease. Re-attached F/T.

  1129   Tuesday, November 24, 2015, 13:54 chad fisherSouth Hot-CellRepair  Cell Decon

Decon/removal of large solid waste was performed on Wednesday November 18th."Hot" activated items included containment box cover from TM2, Febiad coil line remnants from TM4 (the hottest ends were previously cut off and disposed of), some target conductor bolts, steerer plugs from TM2, target material remn.

Drum containing these solid items is 2.5mSv/hr at 1/2m.

Drum is stored in the north hot cell temp.

Compressible waste will require another drum.

Swipes were taken of the window... 170k counts per minute of cont.

  1130   Tuesday, November 24, 2015, 14:00 chad fisherSouth Hot-CellRepair  Compressible waste sorting.

Residual fields from the remaining compressible waste were still too high (as far as I'm concerned) so I have unpacked all compressible waste looking for a "hot" item that has snuck into these items.

I have a hand full of small bolts (possible target components), a hand full of target material/dust (including an entire target disc), and some cloths that had clearly been used to wipe the table (they are black with target dust).

These items will be disposed of with the next spent target.
