Entry  Wednesday, March 16, 2016, 09:20, Travis Cave, ITE, Standard Operation, TM2, SiC#32, module moved

TM#2 with SiC#32 has been moved from the west station to the south hot cell.

Entry  Wednesday, March 16, 2016, 14:23, chad fisher, South Hot-Cell, Standard Operation, TM2, SiC#32, SiC#32 removal Target Module Inspection 20160316_141127.jpg20160316_141146.jpg

SiC#32 has been removed from TM2. Quick inspection shows some troubling discoloration on the water cooled connection blocks of C and D as well as the left target heater A.

As for the target, both legs are broken and is has the normal "charge up" marks on the 9 pin connector.

Entry  Thursday, March 17, 2016, 14:57, David Wang, South Hot-Cell, Repair, TM2, , TM2 first round leak check in SHC

Chad and I finished the first round check on Tm2 water lines. The lines and spots checked are: Target oven + and - (front side braze joints) , Tube heater+and -(front side braze joints and water blocks), coil2 and coil 1(front side braze joints and area close to water blocks),. No leak has been found on all above of them.  The last, we checked   the GE which has the biggest leak so far. The leak detector base leak rate only can get to 4XE-9 atm.cc/sec. Chad sprayed helium very close to GE water block, and I got a quick response on leak detector. The leak rate climbed from 4Xe-9 atm.cc/sec to 1.4 atm.cc/sec. We confirmed the GE is leaking now. The exact location need to be pinpointed later once the containment box is out after the module is back to SHC. The module will be moved to TCS tomorrow morning and pressurized again there. Anders will use RGA to monitor the helium response during the check.

TM2 has been helium pressure tested in ITW and TCS. They are both tested with 70psi helium, each circuit for 3minutes.

The leak detector base leak rate: 0.0X E-9 atm.cc/sec, base pressure 0.0 xE-4 torr  for both ITW and TCS. The test results are:

TM#2 was moved into the south hot cell by 08:30.

Entry  Wednesday, March 23, 2016, 11:32, David Wang, South Hot-Cell, Repair, TM2, , TM2 Helium spray leak check on GE and MSP lines at SHC

Chad and I did the helium spray leak check on TM2 GE and MSP water lines at SHC this morning. We confirmed the GE leak on water blocks. We can not found the MSP leak by using the helium spray since its leak rate in TCS is much smaller than GE leak.  The leak check process are as below:
Leak detector are calibrated before the check.
GE lines : Base leak rate 0.0 X E-9 atm.cc/sec, base pressure 0.0 XE-4 torr.
Chad sprayed 5 psi helium to GE lines soldering joints  for 5 second, no response on leak detector.
Chad sprayed 5 psi helium to GE lines water blocks( between blocks seal surface) for 5 seconds, Leak detector response to 8 XE-9 atm.cc/sec right away.
Chad sprayed  5 psi helium to GE lines soldering joints for 5 seconds again, No response on leak detector.
Chad sprayed 5 psi helium around the source tray and to vacuum duct for 5 seconds more, No response on leak detector.
MSP lines: Base leak rate 0.0X E-9 atm.cc/sec, base pressure 0.0 X E-4 torr.  Chad did same thing as he did on GE lines. no response on LD. Chad repeated the test and prolonged the spray time to 10 seconds, No response.
The conclusion: It is pretty clear we have a leak on GE line water blocks seal.  MSP lines leak could not be found by helium spray in SHC since it is a small leak.

Entry  Wednesday, March 30, 2016, 15:49, David Wang, Assembly/Bench Test, Repair, TM2, , TM2 Helium spray leak check on solder stems inside service cap on the top of SW silo. 7x

On each water circuit in side the service cap, there are 4 soldering stems which two of them are inside blue nylon insulator and other two are connected to service tray. Each stem has two soldering spots. See attachment pictures for detail location. I sprayed 15 psi helium on each soldering spots on stems  for 20second on each circuit. I sprayed tons of helium inside each blue nylon. No any leak has been found during the check. The leak detector base leak rate:0.0 XE-9 atm.cc/sec, base pressure:0.0X E-4 torr. The circuit which I checked are :TA+, Ta-, Tube+, Tube-, PQ (coil 2), RU( coil1), EE, MSP, GE. The HS and window circuit are opened at this moment so they can not be checked.

 Thursday, April 14, 2016, 07:50: RGA on

Friday, April 15, 2016, 08:09 : Ratio between water and air is higher than normal (indicating possible air leak). See attachment. 3.5 more H2O than N2.  (Ratio in TM3 Nov 2015 was 82:1)

A leak was found on the o-ring between the module flange and TCS. This could be fixed by cleaning the o-ring and sealing surface. The Window line is not closed and was accidentally pressurized with He on April 25

Tuesday, April 26, 2016, 08:47: David started the water package.

Wednesday, April 27, 2016, 08:15: Switched off chiller / water cooling.

Wednesday, April 27, 2016, 14:41: Switched chiller / water cooling back on.

Entry  Monday, April 18, 2016, 09:07, David Wang, Conditioning Station, Repair, TM2, , venting TCS with argon.

Anders reported a possible air leak on TM2 and TCS by watching RGA  this morning. I found the quick connector on F terminal on the top of the module is leaking air. It is only used as "X" terminal for Febiad without  water. So, it should be blind capped instead of installing a quick connector. It was installed with a  blind cap before. I borrowed it for leak check on coil lines at SHC, but forgot to put it back right away. Instead, I put a quick connector on it later. This caused the problem. Anyway The TCS need to be vented , and a blind cap  will be installed on the F terminal.

2014-04-18, 9:24AM, I changed the quick connector with a blind cap on F terminal. the rough pump is started now.
