Disassembled the master side of the right manipulator this morning to check the wrist cable. The cable on the master side shows no sign of wear or fraying suggesting that the slave side cable may be the item that is wearing. during disassembly of the master I did notice some loose parts that could have been the source of the audible concern but should not have contributed to the slippage felt in the gripper. I will try and schedule Tuesday for entry into the hot cell to address the slave cable. |

Field readings have been taken at the south hot cell in preparation for entry into the cell to fix manipulator.
Field on contact at aluminum cover is 66 uSv/h, and a pole monitor into the cell through the tool port read 297 uSv/h. |

South hot cell was entered to check to replace cable if needed. Wrist cable showed no signs of fraying or broken strands.
A tong with new cable pre-installed is now in the hot cell for next time this job needs to be done. There is also another spare tong cable not installed in a tong located in the box of manipulator repair equipment located inside the hot cell.
Both manipulator slave ends were lubricated whilst inside. |

Plastic has been removed from the floor and any known active items in the hot cell moved to the south east corner in an attempt to shield the anteroom. Fields at the aluminum panel were reduced from 66 uSv/h to 58.8uSv\h. No contamination found on walls, floor, tacky mats, or standard aluminum cover. The aluminum cover with breathable air line hole did have 400 counts on 44-2, 1200 on ludlum.

Friday, October 21, 2016, 15:10, Anders Mjos, South Hot-Cell, Repair, TM2, Ta#49, Stuck TGHT clamp bolt removal
|
During target removal on Wednesday October 12th, the left target heater conductor bolt (ITD0058) could not be removed. The bolt was found to be stuck in the threads (keensert) of the TGHT conductor block (ITA0583). In the process of attempting to remove the bolt, the conductor insulator (ITD0054) cracked (ref assy ITD0052). To allow increased torque to be applied and support the conductor block, a clamping jig (ITD0612) was designed and fabricated. The jig was assembled and it's function tested on the ISAC Test Stand on Friday 14th. On Monday 17th the bolt could be removed using the clamping jig and a socket wrench with an extended handle.
The threads on the removed bolt was damaged. A new set of bolts were therefore prepared and a tap was run through the keensert to restore the threads. The threads in the conductor block was tested and found to be OK using a new bolt.
The spent target could now be removed. Unfortunately the right manipulator failed during installation of a new conductor insulator, which forced the repair of the insulator and installation of the new target (SiC#35) to be postponed until the manipulator can be repaired.
