Anders Mjos | South Hot-Cell | Development | | ITE-Ta-LP-FEBIAD | Test target examination | Chad and Anders inspected the test target in the hot cell today. The lid had been previously removed.
- The EE looked to have performed well.
- A piece of Ta foil was found inside the heat shield. It is not clear if this has been there during operation or if it entered the heat shield while in the hot cell. The foil has markings which indicate that it has seen heat.
- Travis measured 40 MOhm at 500V between heat shield and anode after the target was removed.

Pierre Bricault | Conditioning Station | Repair | TM1 | ITW-TM1-Ta#37-LP-SIS | Test high voltage on TM1 | TM1 has received the Ta#37-LP and has been pumping since thursday. This morning the pressure gauges read, IMG1: 1.6x10^-6 T and IG1: 7.4x10^-7 T.
The high voltage power supply has been connected to all high voltage feedthroughs and the voltage raise to 42 kV.
High voltage conditioning started around 20 kV and after few minutes we were able to go up to 40 kV.
The pressure increases on both locations, IG1 went up to 8.1x10^-7T and IMG1 went up to 1.8x10^-6T.
The module is good to go. |

Travis Cave | South Hot-Cell | Maintenance | | Ta#50, SiC#34, Ta#46, Ta#47, and Ta#45 | Target transfer from old pail to new pail. | Targets Ta#50 and SiC#34 have been transferred from their old pails to new ones. Ta#50 was done on April 12th 2019 it was moved from pail #148 to pail #200 and a new field measurement was done and found to be 3.57mSv/hr. SiC#34 was done on April 18th 2019 it was moved from pail #143 to pail # 206 and a new field measurement was done and found to be 2.20mSv/hr. Both measurements were done by the RAM that is mounted at the south hot cell.
April 24 2019
Target Ta#46 has now been transferred to a new pail with a number 207 from pail 143 it was 3.62 mSv/hr when removed from the south hot cell.
April 25 2019
Target Ta#47 has now been transferred to a new pail with a number 201 from pail 137 it was 2.25mSv/hr when removed from the south hot cell. The bag that the target was in has shown signs of degradation.
Target Ta#45 has now been transferred to a new pail with a number 202 from pail 124 it was 1.45mSv/hr when removed from the south hot cell. The bag that the target was in was destroyed. Also in the pail was a shutter, IMG Gauge, some altem parts, wire and bolts.
The extraction electrode from Ta#47 was added to this pail as it was left behind from last transfer. |

Anders Mjos | South Hot-Cell | Standard Operation | | SiC#29 | Target to Heat Shield electrical short | The SiC#29 CTL target has been taken apart with the help of Isaac and Chad. Electrical measurements were done between Target and Heat Shield as the target was disassembled. Work was done on October 2nd, 4th, 7th and 8th.
The megger showed about 30kOhm at 50V with the following changes
- Bolts for CTL block loosened
- Above bolts removed
- CTL block pulled away from Heat Shield
- CTL block removed
- Heat Shield lid removed
- Bolts for target removed
- Shims between target and insulators
The megger showed about 50kOhm at 100V with the following changes
- Target removed. Measured between cathode restraint and HS.
The megger showed OL at 540V with No 3 insulator removed. A measurement on No 3 insulator while it was sitting on the HS showed 70kOhm at 120V confirming that the insulator can no longer hold voltage.
While taking off the coil retainer plate, Chad noticed that all bolts were not tight.
