100 liters of high active water from HALCW system( mostly from s-tank and pipe lines closing to pumps) are transferred to holding tank in 2A tunnel. Transfer is smooth.  it is a preparation job for ITC:MP1/MP2 refurbishment.  water sample is passed to RPG for assay.

Entry  Thursday, April 04, 2024, 13:10, David Wang, Cooling, Maintenance, , , high active water refurbishment, reinstallation, and test operation.

both high active pumps ITC:MP1 and MP2 are refurbished by RH group Maico and Peter. Pumps have been installed back to system with new inlet/outlet flange gaskets. high active water surging tank is refilled with water and pumps were primed. I asked operator to switch on pumps separately. Both pumps work fine. They are quiet and pumps discharging pressure is a little bit better comparing to before refurbishment. Nitrogen gas is injecting into system. O2 level is decreasing and R is going up.

2024-04-09: Joel.S checked pumps phase current draw: MP1 16.8 to 17.1A on each phase. MP2 17.0 to 17.2 A on each phase. They are normal. Pump body temperature are below 45C which is fine.

Entry  Tuesday, May 22, 2012, 10:00, David Wang, Conditioning Station, Standard Operation, TM4, sic 27, helium pressure test on heat shield circuit

I did a helium pressure test on heat shield circuit. The leak detector is concected to the TM4 primary vacuum system. The IG1 is 1.1xe-6 torr,PNG4 is 1.5 x E-6torr,and IG4 is 2.1 XE-6torr.leak detector base leak rate:0.0xE-9 atm.cc/sec, base pressure is 0.0x E-4 torr.Applied 80psi helium to heat shield circuit for 4 mins .There is no any response on leak detector during 4mins time. There is no pressure change during the test time. The heat shield circuit is leak tight.

Entry  Thursday, January 06, 2022, 13:54, David Wang, ITE, Standard Operation, TM4, , helium pressure test on TM4 internal cooloing lsine at ITE.

Helium pressure 70 psi. 3 minutes on each circle untill LR on LD is balanced. Base leak rate on LD:0.0xE-9 atm.cc/sec.   The result:

A:   slowly to1.8Xe-8atm.cc/sec after 2 minutes and balanced there.

B:   slowly to 2.0XE-8 atm.cc/sec after 2 minutes and balanced there.

C:  quickly response  to 3.1XE-8 atm.cc/sec and balance there.

D : slowly to 3.0X E-9 atm.cc/sec and balanced there.

All others including coil1, coil 2 ,MSP, EE, HS, window are perfectly leak tight. No response on LD.

The leak rate on A,B,C,D are in low E-8 or E-9 atm.cc/sec range.  They should seal cooling water without leak.    No concern.

Helium pressure test on TM4 HS water line at CS is finished. 80psi helium no leak.

Entry  Thursday, June 23, 2022, 13:04, David Wang, Conditioning Station, Standard Operation, TM4, Ta#64, helium pressure test on TM4 HS line.

With Ta#64 installed , TM4 HS line was helium pressure tested at TCS. base leak rate is 0.0XE-9 atm.cc/sec. HS line tested leak rate is 3x E-7 atm.cc/sec on 5 minutes 50 psi helium testing. Leak check result wasgood at NHC by helium spray method. We decided to apply water to HS and all other water lines still. The vacuum status is closely being watched. So far, TCS pumping down trend is still good. HS line supply water valve was switched on and off couple of times at TCS IG1 1.15 XE-6 range, and no vacuum spike was observed. More information will be logged in during the TM4 and target conditioning stage at TCS.

  • TM2 installed in Conditioning Station
  • Varian Leak detector connected directly to Target Module 2 Service cap.
  • Vacuum draw in Target Station with both module turbo pumps
  • Leak detector baseline normal (10^-4 Torr, 10^-9 Std cc/s He)
  • Since no Source tray is installed, and tube heater supply conductor is blanked off in target enclosure, it was necessary to test both supply and return points.
  • For each line tested, 80 psi He was connected, and waited ~2 min to for a response on the leak detector.
  • Lines tested:
    • conductor D (tube heater), Supply -> no He response
    • conductor D (tube heater), Return -> no He response
    • conductor C (tube heater), Supply -> no He response
    • conductor C (tube heater), Return -> no He response
  • Based on this leak testing, both supply and return lines of conductors C & D are leak tight under 95 psi He (80 psig He supply to vacuum)

Entry  Monday, February 17, 2014, 09:32, David Wang, Conditioning Station, Repair, TM2, , helium pressure test on TM2 tube heater +(D) water line. 6x

I did the helium pressure test on Tube heater+ line this morning. The vacuum on CS and TM2 are very good. The base lake rate on leak detector was 1.7xE-7 atm.cc/sec. Base pressure was 0.0xE-4torr.  I applied helium to the "D"line .The test started from 30psi up to 80psi on both side "D" line. The base leak rate slightly changed to 1.9xE-7 atm.cc/sec during the test, but not base pressure. At this base leak rate level, No obvious leak had been found . See attachment pictures. The test will be repeated later when the base leak rate could be pumped into E -8 or E-9(the best) range.

Entry  Friday, December 05, 2014, 11:58, David Wang, Conditioning Station, Development, TM2, , helium pressure test on TM2 tube heater +(D) water lines. 6x

At CS, The leak detector is hooked directly to the TM2 top service cap. The base LR 0.0xE-9 atm.cc/sec, base pressure 0.0xE-4torr. Applied 80 psi helium to TM2 tube heater +(D) line . During 3 minutes applying time , I did  not see any tiny change on LD readings. The line is perfectly vacuum sealed.  See attachment pictures.

Entry  Tuesday, February 25, 2014, 10:00, David Wang, Conditioning Station, Repair, TM2, , helium pressure test on TM2 tube heater (+) water line with blank off(C-seal) installed on WB. 10x

I did the helium pressure  test  on TM2 tube heater (+) water line  with blank off(C-seal) installed on  water block at CS.The leak detector was hooked directly to the top of the module this time. So base leak rate and base pressure were at the bottom scale on LD. 30 -80 psi helium was applied to the D lines(both side)  with10 psi   increasing each time. There is no any tiny response hasbeen found during the test. The lines are perfectly sealed. Also i sprayed the helium on the top of the service cap .All  air to vacuum seals on the top are good either. See attachment pictures.

Entry  Wednesday, November 29, 2023, 12:45, Carla Babcock, ITE, Standard Operation, , , gas lines pumped down

Pumped down the gas lines in ITE on Tuesday Nov. 28 2023 and opened the CF4 bottle valves. Missed the small section between the regulator and SV2 though, so will probably redo it.

Pumped down again on Dec. 12 2023. Was taking a long time so might not be as good as earlier. Maybe there is a leak in there...
