Field measurements have been taken to determine the level before entry for repair of manipulators.

Field on contact at manipulator is 560 uSv/h, and at approximately 1/2 meter at table surface 920 uSv\h.

Entry  Monday, June 25, 2018, 11:31, chad fisher, South Hot-Cell, Standard Operation, , , Fields at Al cover

The shield door has been opened and fields measured at 77 uSv/h on contact at the AL. panel.

hot items have been moved and shielded as much as possible. Field at left manipulator has been reduced from 560 uSv/h to 85 uSv/h.

On Thursday, June 29th the containment box of TM2 was removed and the optics tray re-installed and reconnected. The box was then re-installed.

Friday the window waterlines were leak checked, Nb target installed (with new fasteners, high current torqued to 130 in*lbs) target leak and electrical checked and containment box cover installed with new fasteners.

At the end of manipulator repair Thursday the ventilation pre-filter in the hot cell was changed. Old filter remains in the hot cell until such time as it can be removed.

Ta#56 has been installed onto TM4 with new fasteners. High current fasteners torqued to 130 in lbs.

RIB "shield" has been removed in  preparation for insertion of new optics tray.

On September 18th installation of nSiC#1 was attempted on TM2. As usual, new fasteners were tested previous to insertion into hot cell and employed during installation. the last fastener to be installed was for the circuit D block. The fastener/air ratchet stalled immediately indicating a problem. The fastener was removed and a an attempt was made trying a new spare fastener. That fastener also jammed right away but could not be removed or installed any further.

A breaker bar was employed to achieve more torque and the fastener was able to be loosened, although it would not come completely out, dangling and wobbling like it was free. A claw type bar was used to add slight pressure to the fastener while it was loosened allowing the fastener to undo the rest of the way.

Target was removed and discovered that that insulator supporting circuit c and d blocks was quite broken and that a few chunks had fallen off. It was also notice that boefore the breaker bar had been employed that a piece of ceramic was on the table suggesting that the ceramic had been at least partially broken at the time of removal of the previous target. Also, the threads of the insert for circuit d showed damage an swarf.

Swarf was vacuum claned out of the circuit d thread insert and a machine tap ran through the insert twice.

nSiC#1 was reinstalled with new waterline gaskets and new c and d circuit fasteners with a little bit of the first 2-3 threads lightly coated with vacuum grease.

High current fasteners torqued to 130 in lbs.

The south hot cell window has been found to be leaking oil. Upon inspection yesterday I found that the bolts compressing the gasket on the cold side were "loose". I have re-torqued them to the specification provided by the manufacturer in the attached procedure.

Cover 1 was removed from the exit module. Confirmed with David that the actuator rod that needed to be disconnected was the far left )as viewed by the hot cell operator). The fastener for this rod was un-accessible from this side. Cover 1 was re-installed (two bolts left loose) and cover 2 was removed. fastener holding the actuator together was removed and luckily it does have a remote start.

The handle cable on the east manipulator of the south hot cell has been replaced. Old cable showed signs of wear but had no broken strands. Manipulator is back together but still needs to be re-tensioned.

In preparation for removing the slave for replacement I discovered that the timing screw in the handle cable drum (master side) had been left threaded into the pulley...it should have been completely removed. It was bent from hitting on a casting inside the mater arm which most likely contributed to the hopped pulleys on the slave side. After removing this timing screw I entered the north hot cell and replaced the hopped cable back onto its pulley and Isaac tested the motions that previous caused the hopped cables. These tasks were repeated 4 times without any issues. Also of note is a missing setscrew in the tong cable pulley pin and a somewhat loose tape on the slave, also the tape shows signs of a crimp/bend. Upon further inspection and comparison with the other slaves I also found that one of the "lock-down" fittings tying the Z motion tape drum to the corresponding gear is completely missing. See pictures attached.
