Beam reserved for continuing accelerator development, but there are some ISAC-I RF phase troubles. However, maintenance was not permitted today... until just now. Too late for today. |

Development on Friday; idle over the weekend. Stripchart attached.
Meanwhile, there was a power bump at around 09:30, and the source went out. Restarted OK. |

Beam up as of last evening. Controls performed some network upgrades today, which impacted beam operations. One glitch on our side: OLIS:MB drive bit was lost. Fault report. Otherwise, all's right with the world, and Sophia has resumed accelerator development. |

Accelerator development continued this morning. Beam from source was reported to be "good". ICR showed me their long-term Stripchart of our beam. There is a clear daily correlation of beam intensity with weather. Interesting. Beam idle on FC6 since ~lunchtime. I took the opportunity to do a little magstab development. The server now runs Konstantin's ser2net patch which fixes the USB port name assignments at boot time. This is a common issue in linuxland, it turns out. |

Marco and experimenters are busy at it, tuning the DTL. Regarding the source, he is "happy as always!" Well, that makes at least two of us. After this segment of tuning is complete, then he will move on to setup for the upcoming S1151 run at SEBT2 on Sunday. |

Source drifted overnight. Operators made a slight correction to silence an alarm. I have tweaked this up. Shown below are before and after. Marco believes present beam is unstable. I will see if I can tweak up the intensity, and perhaps that will satisfy all requirements.
Later... ~13:00 this is just about as good as it gets. Stripchart of the last couple of hours plus current excellent source parameters appended below. |

Beam used sporadically over the weekend. Note temperature response in beam. A power bump occurred at about 10:00, knocking out OLIS. It was challenging to come back to where it was before. |

Damien Gallop | | | 16O1+ at 32.64keV to SEBT2 |
Our first experiment of the year started right around midnight last night, after extensive tuning. As I understand it, S1151 will confirm the age of the universe. The MWS source performed flawlessly over the weekend. |

Nominal beam operation to SEBT2 overnight. A chart of beam over the last few days is attached. There is a step change in the separator field right around midnight. Although the archive does not show it, in fact this was adjusted at 23:54 last night.
Later...MCISRFIOC PC up again, with many thanks to Shawn @ Controls. The black MCISRFIOC computer, atop of the IOS racks, was found to be dead a few days ago. We originally thought that this was a consequence of last Monday's power bump. However, the attached archive plot suggests that it in fact failed on April 21st. Controls confirmed extensive hardware damage, and rebuilt the machine. It is up again now, and operational as it was before. I ran the MCIS RF and did an RF scan for good measure. It all works. |

Delivery to S1151 went quietly overnight for their last few hours. The run ended at ~08:30 as scheduled. Marco and ICR did some EOB checks. Also, a quick EOB emittance scan is attached. There were problems with the beam tune save files, since resolved. Among the last ones are 100430_0918.snapiossebt2 (missing SEBT optics) and 100429_2023.snapiossebt2.

Damien Gallop | | | 16O1+ for SCC Commissioning |
A 16O1+ beam from the MWS is being used for SCC development and commissioning by agreement. Some sideshows getting there.
Later... At approximately 13:15, some event, a bias spark, it appears, took out a number of devices, most of which IOPS reset. The FUG blew a fuse on startup. Replacement OK. However, there remains an interlock light on the IOS:BIAS panel with no apparently unsatisfied interlocks showing. Controls is checking now (~15:00). Cause appeared to be an old version of a startup script on IOSIOC. The script has been updated so that this particular fault should not recur. Source restarted okay, but it took some doing to get the separator magnet back. It is still not optimized, but Marco can take it from here. |

Damien Gallop | Routine | General | 16O2+ emittance scans |
The first emittance scan sort of got interrupted; it auto-restarted just before the previous scan had finished. I thought the resulting plot was somewhat interesting. The emittance isn't half-bad either. A better scan follows. TACTIC took beam again for a while this afternoon to shake down a timing discrepancy. We got it back around 4pm. One more emittance scan for good measure. |
