MCIS-
cleaning out source to remove potassium and calcium.
Areas cleaned with scotch-brite and then wiped with methanol: plasma chamber, tuning chamber (ports opened for access), TP3 tube. The inside of the ground electrode tip has been removed and sand blasted clean. The inside of the ground electrode has been wiped as much as possible (very limited access).
The ALGA amplifier has been unplugged and moved. |

Service of MCIS. Plasma chamber cleaned. Repaired shorted, Right steering plate. Added shields to help prevent coating of wires. Beam is off centre on first collimator of steering assembly.
Moved Ground electrode away from PE approximately 0.10".
Note: the plasma chamber and ground electrode tip are clean.
2015-05-19 Repaired shorted MWS PE. Internal short was found. The source chamber was vented and cleaned. The beaker was replaced with a new one (it was coated with carbon). WPI2015-05-19-2

Damien Gallop | | | 116Sn+18 & 118Sn+19 from MCIS for Development |
On Friday there was a request to repeat some of the findings with tin beams. An agreement was made to use OLIS for development in lieu of Shutdown MRO as scheduled. MRO is planned for November 2nd &ff. HE development took place over the weekend with 116Sn+18, A/q=6.44.
Next up: 33S source development. Setup this evening. |

Damien Gallop | | | 116Sn+18 & 118Sn+19 from MCIS to TIGRESS |
Delivery continued over the weekend with some interruptions here and there. A source intervention was made late last night and into the wee hours, and again this morning. Tuning to TIGRESS has resumed.
Note that ICR was using a 12C+2 beam for setup purposes. Their procedure was to turn off MCIS when beam not in use to minimize carbon contamination in the source. 12C+2 -> 116Sn+18 last evening around 21:00 with source expert present. |

Source switchover began last night after 22:00. There are some 200epA of A/q=6.46 (116Sn+18) on FC6 presently. Setup and tuning continue.
Natural abundances of Sn:
Sn-116 ( 14.54% )
Sn-117 ( 7.68% )
Sn-118 ( 24.22% )
Sn-119 ( 8.58% )
Sn-120 ( 32.59% )
Sn-122 ( 4.63% )
Sn-124 ( 5.79% )
Later... ~70epA at FC6 after some conditioning and fiddling. |

Accelerator development continues. Save: 101201_2157.snaiosvault. Today's agenda: emittance scans. Attached: overnight beam plus a preliminary horizontal emittance scan 101202_0951ILTEMIT.txt.
Later... First good scan 101202_1016ILTEMIT.txt.
Next... Second scan 101202_1016ILTEMIT.txt with FC at lower gain, due to lots of red in the first scan. Too noisy.
Next... Third scan 101202_1041ILTEMIT.txt, first the raw pic, then filtered a couple of ways.
Scanner parked, and beam on FC6 again. There is interest in doing a vertical scan. This will require physically moving the emittance rig to the perpendicular face of its diagnostics box. Awaiting decision. |

Last moments of beam development for SEBT commissioning. Attached is an FC6 plot and the present optics and 1mm slits. Decision was to not do a vertical emittance scan at this time, but proceed with 15Kr development, up next. Before we shut off, one last emittance scan coming up.
Later... Emittance scan with 2.5mm slits (default position setting used) in progress... Done. 101203_1017ILTEMIT.txt. Looks a little boxy... Both raw and cleaned-up versions attached.
Next: Emittance scan with 5mm slits... Done. 101203_1039ILTEMIT.txt. Looks a little more boxy... Both raw and cleaned-up versions attached.
Next: Repeat scan with original 1mm slits and scanner settings... Done. 101203_1104ILTEMIT.txt. It reproduced. Both raw and cleaned-up versions plus scanner panel attached.
Next: Quick look at 16O beams before shutting off... |

The 85/87Rb run from the MWS ended last evening as scheduled. The Supernanogan source was brought online (~21:30 Sunday?) and a 12C2+ beam established, first for ICR training then for DRAGON setup. |

A good 12C2+ beam was established yesterday from the Supernanogan source, driven by background pressure only; no source gas actively injected. Beam intensity was not sufficient, so we switched to the MWS. 12C2+ from the MWS sat on FC6 for the night, and grew over the time. Plan today: increase the intensity one way or another.
Later... We're going with the Supernanogan for this one. CO source gas set up via MWS gas manifold. Differential pressure over variable leak provides low enough flow. RF scan in progress presently ~15:00. |

12C2+ beam established yesterday from the Supernanogan. Tuning to DRAGON began last evening and is continuing presently.
We noticed that MCOL0 no longer has a valid reading. A quick trar suggests it stopped reading at around 17:00 yesterday, right around the beam hand-off time. Also, after working fine since Controls adjusted it a couple of weeks back, the MCIS:RFS water flow meter began toggling its state again around the same time, and a defeat was required to run the RF. |
