A short in the anode has developed during the heater ramp up. Increasing the current limit did not cure it. Start heater ramp down to investigate.

Wednesday, July 04, 2012: short found between anode and target. probably caused by the target tube coming in contact with the anode due to bending of the tube caused by heating and deformation of the grid retaining ring. see attachements

Replaced grid containing ring (target side) with new ring. No contact between target and anode measured in lab.

NOTE: While closing up the VCR fittings the tube rotated causing the tube to flatten in a bend. This may reduce water flow on the heat shield circuit. (see attachment)

Wednesday, July 04, 2012, 15:33: Started roughing.

Wednesday, July 04, 2012, 15:57 : Started turbos

Thursday, July 05, 2012, 08:39: Water supply open. Vacuum stable at 5.9E-7. Due to the kink in the heat shield cooling line, flow in the heat shield line is lower than other lines (visually inspecting speed of paddle wheels).

A new turbo has been installed. Eddie said the other one had crashed but not catastrophically. He recommends the test stand be wiped clean before pumping because there is a fine layer of Aluminum dust on the chamber base.

Entry  Tuesday, July 17, 2012, 10:10, Anders Mjos, , , , , , , Problems/Solutions, Gas lines leak checked - air supply leak on manifold

Leak found on the Ne supply line. 1E-4 - 1E-5 range. Replaced fittings. Had to use one brass piece. Leak rate 6E-9 (probably due to Ne response). No response to He.

Leak rate around low E-8 with regulation valve open.

When closing the HV rack, an air supply leak developed on the manifold for the valves. Shut off air supply. Valves still operational, but requires opening up air supply to actuate.

With the help of Rick, the leak was fixed.

The vacuum pump for the gas lines was removed for repairing the leaking hose.

Due to high vacuum a leak check will be done on the system.

Thursday, July 19, 2012, 09:00 : Base leak rate 4E-9 atm-cc/sec

Thursday, July 19, 2012, 09:07: Leak detected on side door. Mid 1E-8 range.

Thursday, July 19, 2012, 09:08: Leak detected on front door. Mid 1E-6 range. Main leak left or bottom side.

Thursday, July 19, 2012, 09:20: Leak on side door could not be reproduced. Previous response possibly due to  "cross-talk" with front door.
