Tuesday, March 02, 2021, 11:03: System tripped

Tuesday, March 02, 2021, 11:06: Vacuum started to increase when coil was set to 80 A.

Tuesday, March 02, 2021, 11:08: IG1 started to drop as soon as the system tripped, this indicates that this was not a vacuum incursion from the gas or water but rather something related to heat.  Maybe some copper from the coil melted.

AS  checked thing were OK (see elog 860)

Tuesday, March 02, 2021, 12:35: Auto-ramp up TGHT/TBHT to 580/290 @ 4 A/min.

Tuesday, March 02, 2021, 15:25: IG1 @ 1.66e-7 T.

Tuesday, March 02, 2021, 15:26: Increasing coil current, response in vacuum. RGA increases mass 44 ( CO2).

* The coil jacket is made of fiberglass, that Si with mass 28. Hence,  the CO/N2  signal will increase if the jacket starts sublimating.

**from the future SiO with a mass of 44 will show an increase in "CO2" signal

Tuesday, March 02, 2021, 15:34: Coil @ 30 A IG1 @ 2.15e-6 T.

max IG1 = 2.25e-6T

Will remain at this current until vacuum  starts decreasing.

Wednesday, March 03, 2021, 07:28: Coil @ 110 A.

Voltage limited. Increasing from 1.1 A to 1.2 A.

Wednesday summary: tght remained at 400 A. Several tbht, anode, and coil scans. Went up to 345 on the TBHT, the current on the cathode was above 250 mA for a voltage of around 300 V. I stopped there as the large electron current could melt the grid.

Thursday, March 04, 2021, 08:43: Re taking some points from yesterday

Took several mass scans and emittance scans

Friday, March 05, 2021,

Investigated beam composition at different temperatures, I couldn't find a peak that is affected by argon injection. species with m/1 above 50 u only appear with tght>580 and tbht>295. These values are a bit tricky to work on as the FEBIAD has melted before near these values.

I will continue mass scans, emittance, and efficiency measurements.  On the last day I will push towards higher temperatures.

Saturday, March 06, 2021,

Investigating beam composition. Mass scans and the parameter sweep on the dominant peaks both with and without gases.  THBT is at 315 A.

Sunday, March 07, 2021:

Investigating  Ar++ both with and without gas.

Investigating  Ta++

Sunday, March 07, 2021, 11:15: TBHT to 320 A @ 2A/min

Sunday, March 07, 2021, 11:45: During a parameter scan, epics cut communication with my notebook. It seems like the HLA server might be down :/

Sunday, March 07, 2021, 12:32: Discussed with  Spencer, he was upgrading jaya. Now things are up and running gain.

Sunday, March 07, 2021, 13:36:  Ar+++ observed now at mass ~13.33 u, with a current of 3e-10A.

Sunday, March 07, 2021, 16:32: TBHT to 325 A @ 1A/min

Sunday, March 07, 2021, 20:06: Emittance measurements for same efficiency parameters of anode, coil. The tail of the emittance gets larger on some combinations.

Sunday, March 07, 2021, 20:07: TBHT to 330 A @ 1A/min

Sunday, March 07, 2021, 20:22: After increasing the TBHT to 330 A, the anode leakage current started to drop, this hasn't happened before. The TBHT  voltage look stable so I don't think the cathode is failing ...yet

systematic measurement of emittance: fixed anode sweeping coild, and also fixed coil sweeping anode

Monday, March 08, 2021, 01:55: Investigating 39K at very low voltages. Taking emittance measurements and RPMs.

Monday, March 08, 2021, 02:25: Anode@ 0V Coil @ 50A. FC0 in

Monday, March 08, 2021, 07:22:  TBHT to 335 A @ 1A/min

Monday, March 08, 2021, 09:48: Water cooling values. The temperature on the HS are likely higher because of the high temperature we are running the ion source. The flow on TBHT seems lower compared to what was registered on elog 856

Monday, March 08, 2021, 10:44: At anode voltgae aroun 400 the system got unstable in high voltage, likely due to almost 600 mA being sink on the anode PS.

Monday, March 08, 2021, 10:45 : TBHT to 331 A @ -1A/min

Tuesday, March 09, 2021:

Investigating doubly charged species, increase tbht in steps of 1A. Anode voltage gets limited at around 300 V due to the high electron current

Tuesday, March 09, 2021, 08:30: TBHT to 340 A.

Tuesday, March 09, 2021, 10:27: TBHT to 341 A.

Tuesday, March 09, 2021, 11:26:  TBHT to 345 @ 1A/min

Tuesday, March 09, 2021, 15:50:  TBHT to 350 @ 1A/min. I think above this value there will be an anode-cathode short, or the transfer line will melt.

 Tuesday, March 09, 2021, 17:1: TBHT to 360 @ 1A/min.

Tuesday, March 09, 2021, 19:26: TBHT to 370 @ 1A/min.

Tuesday, March 09, 2021, 19:32: TBHT voltage increasing but not the current. Increasing the TBHT voltage from 3.5 to 4 V.

Tuesday, March 09, 2021, 20:17:  358 A is stable, 359 A is a bit jumpy, but 360 A is quite jumpy.

Tuesday, March 09, 2021, 20:29: CG1A reached 1 T, tapping down from 363 to 361.

Wednesday, March 10, 2021, 00:20: It has been quite challenging to reach 370 A on the TBHT, the highest current reached is 368 A. At this current, it seems that an efficiency flattening has definitely started.

Wednesday, March 10, 2021, 00:21: Bringing TBHT to 325 A @ 2A/min

After a spark and during the last bit of the scan, it seems the anode shorted. The source is dead :/

 Wednesday, March 10, 2021, 02:43: Auto-cooling TGHT/TBHT to 0 A  @ 2A/min

Wednesday, March 10, 2021, 02:49: IV4 closed

Wednesday, March 10, 2021, 02:49: IV4 timed out.

Wednesday, March 10, 2021, 02:51: Cooling aborted.

 Wednesday, March 10, 2021, 02:51:  Auto-cooling TGHT/TBHT to 0 A  @ 4A/min

Wednesday, March 10, 2021, 02:55: Biases to 0 kV.

Wednesday, March 10, 2021, 03:1:  Cooling aborted.

Wednesday, March 10, 2021, 03:11   Auto-cooling TGHT/TBHT to 0 A  @ 10A/min

Wednesday, March 10, 2021, 03:20: Short is not present anymore. Anode can hold voltage.
