This afternoon, Darwin prepared in the hot lab fume hood the two UO2 slurries to be cut into P2N target discs. Later, I took over cutting both slurries. A total of 49 annular discs were cut and loaded into the P2N graphite container.

The discs thickness was measured by stacking 5 discs on each other, and measuring their thickness in two points.

#discs = 49

Average disc thickness = 0.453mm

Empty cartridge weight = 9.42 g

Full cartridge weight = 39.86 g

UO2+C weight = 30.44 g

The unused material plus the cutting scrap were left in a zip lock bag on a shelf in the right hand side of the fume hood. The center scraps and the loaded target were placed in a plastic tray on the top shelf. The used tools and scales were left on the right of the working area, the napkins on the bottom were put into the garbage bag (inside the fume hood) and replaced, while the only napkin left is the one with the target information (recorded in attached picture).

 While removing the SiC#42 it became apparent that the multipin guide pin had become loose again and was not allowing the target to dismount from the module.

The multipin shoulder bolts were removed and then the multipin was able to be pried off.

However the NHC manipulator were not able to reach the guide pin to remove it, which would be required before the SiC#43 could be installed.

The target module was then moved to the SHC where the guide pin could be removed and the installation of SiC#43 took place, along with the transfer of the parasitic attachment onto the SiC#43.

This problem seems to suggest that the multipin could use some redesign to ensure smoother target exchanges.

 On tuesday July we lower the cathode heater to swap the anode-cathode bias. While lowering the cathode heater a short on the anode developed. 

The polarity swap was not possible because the target/tube assembly has also a short to common. 

We return the configuration has it was and we added two 100 Ohms: 5 W resistor between the common and the heaters to prevent current to flow back to the common. 

The anode short disappear during the cathode and target heating.
