Ta#37-LP-SIS (w.o#38634-5)
Filled with 400 Ta foils (25/pk), 4.0 cm in length. Total mass + Ta wire = 42.32g. The heat shield was assembled and tested, and the standard salts were added. Target was installed in the test stand on Jun 1, 2011.
Fri Jun 17 09:19:46 2011: The following salts have been added: Li, Na, Rb @ 10uL, K @ 5uL, Cs @ 15uL, and Be @ 10uL.
Wednesday, July 06, 2011, 14:08: TM1 is still under repairing. It was tested at the test-stand. Target is on the shelve and ready to be used.
Tuesday, July 26, 2011, 15:58: Salt added before going into the hotcell: Li,Na,Rb,K,Cs. Target is ready to be used for TM1 test.
Wednesday, July 27, 2011, 10:48: It was found that the extraction electrode had some arc marking on it (see attachment: EE). Investigating...
Wednesday, July 27, 2011, 12:51: After further investigation on the extraction electrode, we found some black and blue(or green) deposit on the outside surface and inside of the EE. This deposit is most likely copper oxide, which formed during the HV test. The EE was removed, and wiped clean with methanol. (see attachment: EE_CuO). This target will be used in TM1.
Friday, August 26, 2011, 09:48: As per Friday Aug 26 TIS meeting, bNMR is very satisfied with the beam; the count rate is very stable.

Target came out from the glovebox and transported to the cold lab for assembly. During the assembly, one of the screw-heads for the heat-shield broke (see attachment#1: broken_screwhead).
The target was leak checked and fine.
Target is going back to the glovebox to be kept under Ar until RH is ready (see attachment #2: UCx#2).

Target was moved from ITW to south hot cell, and stored in a bucket under argon feed.

The target is now in the test-stand, and by next week Tuesday, it should go in the Hotcell.

The target was tested in the Test-stand. The EE was inspected and a small amount of deposit was discovered after the test (the same stuff was found on Ta#36), see attachment #1. The samples were collected and will be analyzed through SEM/EDX/XRD.
The EE and the common plate were cleaned with methanol and were assembled back.
The target is ready to go in the Hotcell tomorrow, June 05.

The deposits on the EE and CC were analyzed using XRD
On the EE, it was mainly copper hydroxide nitrate, Cu2(OH)3(NO3). (see attachment #2)
On the CE, it was mainly tantalum, Ta. (see attachment #3)

The target is currently undergoing the final conditioning in the Evaporator #1.

This target was broken right before the end of the final run. The target was inspected today inside the Hotcell and the pictures can be found here: http://documents.triumf.ca/docushare/dsweb/View/Collection-9357
Looks like the protective layer (TaC coating) was worn out over the course of the run time.
We need to improve the target coating so this can be prevented in the future.

This target did not pass the test-stand and will not be used for online (unless if it gets approved). The target container is deformed. An increase of voltage was observed during the test; perhaps it's a sign of the container being cracked?! See Test-stand e-log#450 for more details.
Another target is already prepared and being tested. (Target Oven WO# 41177-2).

Total no. discs = 422
Total packed length = 13.2 cm (measured after the sintering process)
Note: The theoretical length (ZrC + graphite foils) is 10.52cm After the sintering process, the stack of discs expanded in length. To avoid crushing the materials while inserting the endcaps, the discs are gentally packed to 13.2cm.
