  42   Thursday, April 07, 2022, 12:21 Aaron SchmidtFixed Ar glove box roughing pump.

Thursday, April 07, 2022, 12:00: While preparing to remove LaC, the roughing pump (1) stopped operating. It didn't appear to seize, just no longer powered up. Multiple outlets attempted. Vacuum group contacted & they brought us a replacement.

Thursday, April 07, 2022, 12:21: Pump was replaced. (Pump 2).

Friday, April 22, 2022, 11:30: The roughing pump failed (Pump 2) & shut-off. Appears to have seized. Oil?

Was replaced by Vacuum Group in the afternoon with 3rd pump.

Monday, April 25, 2022, 09:13: Roughing pump failed & shut-off. (Pump 3). The oil was completely drawn out of it & into the ventilation line (To EF14).

Fault: 14843

Friday, June 01, 2022, 12:00: RP changed with a new IDP15 roughing pump. Fixed.

  41   Thursday, April 07, 2022, 12:00 Aaron SchmidtUnder Process Ar Glove box issue & LaC removal.

 Thursday, April 07, 2022, 11:55:

It was noticed on Wednesday that the glove box was not regulating pressure properly & the H2O sensor was reading (Very unstable) anywhere from 30 ppm to 0.25%. The box was isolated & checked for leaks. Unable to vent properly except manually.

One of the solenoid valves for venting the glove box fails to open. Will need replacement. The filter also appears to be saturated. Regeneration is required once the solenoid valve is replaced. Prior to replacing the valves, the LaC must be safely removed. This process is being initiated. (John W. & Darwin O.)

  40   Thursday, January 20, 2022, 13:38 Carla Babcock  Testing of spare FUG bias supply

Tomislav and John Chow tested the spare bias supply located in the rack of the electrical services room. This is a FUG HCN 1400 M-60000, serial 11590-01-01, PO TR131986 but when it was installed online we found it could not go above about 40kV. It was replaced but not tested until now. Tomislav says:

"We started testing the FuG this morning, in manual mode it is possible to reach 60 kV, 59.75 according to the display and with the load we have 1.6 mA. From the DC HV point of view, at least in manual mode no problem.

When we looked at the HV through a 1000:1 voltage divider in the oscilloscope there is a situation, the coupling in graphs 4 and 5, attached, is AC, and it was taken at 55 kV. The 200 mV scale represents 200 V because of the divider. There is a strong noise of 200 Vpp at 55 kV, it can be interpreted as ripple of 0.36%, we usually ask in FuGs 10-5 or 0.001%. Also there are random peaks of 1 V in the divider (1000V in the output) that indicate a possible failure of the PWM circuit that generates the high voltage.

Because of issues like these Friedhelm replaced the old ITW power supply, these instabilities caused problems in the experiments, so I am not sure if it is necessary to continue testing this PS. We can only do a remote test that I do not expect to give different results from what we have now, maybe we will find an issue and it does not go beyond 40 kV, and we can check long term stability, the DC value should remain very constant for at least 8 hrs."

  34   Wednesday, August 05, 2020, 19:50 Darwin Ortiz RosalesFixed1Hot Lab Glove Box Regeneration

Wednesday, August 05, 2020, 19:34

On Friday July 31 a regeneration of the glovebox was started.

Initial 02 = 130 ppm

Initial H20= 1.9 ppm

The Argon gas level was 1200 psi

The regeneration was finished on August 01, 2020.

The 02 level (not accurate as stated in the manual) was p 137 ppm.

The H20 level was 8.9 ppm and not considered accurate as the system needs time to reach equilibrium.

The final 02 level was 7.0 ppm and recorded on August 05, 2020.  The final moisture levels were recorded to be 1.9 ppm.

The regeneration was successful and it was concluded that the catalyst is active enough so that it does not need to be replaced.

 Thursday, August 06, 2020, 15:47

02 = 6.75 ppm

H20 = 1.9 ppm

 Monday, January 13, 2020, 10:30: Leak noted in HC area by Chad to ISAC Ops.

Monday, January 13, 2020, 13:32: The water leak was found to be coming from the sinks in the ISAC B1 Cold Lab. Target cleaning was occurring at the time as well. Soap / detergent smell was noted in the water that had dripped down to the area in front of the South Hot Cell in ISAC B2.

Fault: 12983

Rob Shanks entered a fault report.

Running the main cold lab tap or the fume hood tap did not yield a leak, however, dumping a large quantity of water into the 2 main sinks in the ISAC B1 cold lab causes the leak to become apparent. It's likely the large volume of water causes a brief back flow in the pipe in ISAC B2 which then leaks until the flow recovers.

The pipe joint with the leak has been circled in the attached photo.

Anders & I both witnessed the leak to confirm the source.
